i just saw the thankyou video from the cast.. that was wonderful. it made me cry, just as the movie did. The music in Rent is so raw, deep and meaningful. You guys all did a wonderful job bringing Rent alive in the movie version. It helps to inspire the artist within me to know others exist out there who create such beautiful pieces of art. Whether it be the acting, directing, set design, etc.... Thanks again for everything....

I am totally excited about this DVD! The movie doesn't come out in South Africa in the theaters until March or April, but I told my relatives they MUST go see it! In the mean time, I can watch it all I want at home, hours and hours of enjoyment! I can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh! by the way, I wish you guys had gotten some kind of Oscar nod but that's ok! Totally cannot wait for the DVD, but don't forget Anthony Rapp's book is suppose to come out on Feb. 7th, next Tuesday! I read an excerpt from it on Amazon.com and it was amazing! I just bought Anthony's book. And rushed home to start reading it. I'm only on Chapter One but it is so great and it will tide me over until Feb. 21! Only 18 More Days! At least here in Pittsburgh, SuperBowl Mania has also caused me to take my mind off of how many more days. I can party for the Steelers Victory and then party for the RENT DVD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I really hope that the people involved with this movie tune into the blog for a few more comments! You know, usually, I would post a comment just like everyone else. Screaming, and jumping up and down, and waiting for Rent to come out on DVD.

I'm 16 years old, when the original cast first performed the play I was only 7. (not to make you feel old or anything) My friend taught me the song 'Seasons of Love', and we used to make our own little 'music video' singing it in the backyard. She moved, and I didn't hear the song again until I saw a trailer for the movie, a few weeks before it came to theatres.

I know you've heard this part before, your own Tracie says it again and again (by the way, SO COOL she's from Baltimore, I live a half hour away in Laurel :D) I instantly fell in love with the movie. I have seen it four times, and I literally cried when it went out of theatres. Everyday I think about it. I daydream, and I put myself into the characters. Usually Mimi. I feel so connected to her, and I want a Roger in my life. (after the first time I saw the movie I instantly went home and decided to find out about Adam, since he was so hot playing Roger... I thought I had a crush on him, which I would prefer actually, because instead, it's on Roger, who DOESN'T EXIST!)

Actor's are the greatest people. They're so vibrant, and outgoing, and just... alive I guess. Watching the clips, I saw that you are people, beautiful AMAZING people, who would be alot of fun to know. I'm no actress, and I'm no singer (I can barely reach a high c... and by that, I mean, the c an octave above middle c on a piano...) I almost feel like Mark, on the outside looking in. I try to become closer to these groups of people who are just... so so amazing (because it's 3 am, and I'm not creative with adjectives at the moment) I do it by working tech for our school musicals.. which, even during hell week, and the actors angry with us, and we're ripping 6 foot holes in the curtains (the set pieces were a little TOO big)... they're the best weeks of my life.

I stumbled over this site by accident. I was just passing the time as I listened the Rent soundtrack before I went to sleep. Five hours later... I'm really glad you made this. I feel like I got to know you. I've only known the musical for about a month and a half, but I am SO drawn to it. I lost a friend last year. To leukemia. She died 22 hours after she was diagnosed-none of us saw it coming. And she was only 15. She was the kind of person I want to be, the kind of person I guess you are advocating... she was SO comfortable in her own skin, and so youthful, and full of life. She lived each day for the day, never thinking what would happen if she wasn't here.

This is getting long. I'm sorry. I dream, of one day, either in this lifetime, or the here-after, of meeting you. Any of you, and being able to thank you in person. You've heard it before... so what makes me different? This movie really has made an impact on my life. Now it's been over a year and a month since my friend died, and I think this movie was what I needed to help me get over the depression that consumed me so much last year. You know? I'm happy, and getting better grades, and motivated to do things. Alot of that is credited to this wonderful script that Jonathon wrote... and the one that you portrayed SO beautifully.

Again... thank you SO much!!

I was wondering if you might feel like comin' up to albany, or basically anywhere in upstate new york or southern vt, and doing a concert? :) Just thought I'd mention it- you know, start sending out those concert vibes! hehe, because yeah, the world could use a WHOLE lot more idina concerts!! aaand if taye feels like coming along, or any of the other cast members, or if any other of you guys feel like doin' a solo concert or just basically any appearance in the upstate ny area, that's just make my life all the more sweeter :D

However, Feb 21 is in the middle of my spring break, so I have booked that day as RENT day and my mom and I are going to watch it first thing! I got her addicted to the soundtrack, and she is almost as excited as I am!

I better start warning people that I'm going to be *just a little* hyper that day =P I'm very excited not only for the extras and deleted scenes and things (who isn't waiting for "Halloween" and "Goodbye Love?") but also just to have RENT in my hands, as you said, immortalized forever.

Btw, I started reading Anthony's book "Without You" today (who cares about home work, honestly?)and it's just completely, completely awesome, and beautiful, and very very moving. Some parts are so intense and emotional that it's overwhelming. When I got to the end of the "Jonathan" chapter, I was just completely exhausted emotionally and even physically - to be honest, I started crying on page 4, that's how moving it was. Anyways, just wanted to let you know that it's really touched me.

I know that the chances of Adam himself reading this are pretty slim, but if there is any chance of it, I need to thank him.

I am going to see Rent, for the 11th time, tonight. and everytime I am moved to tears by his performance.

When I found out I was ill, and tragically lost my boyfriend, I never thought I'd be able to leave my house again. I really want to thank Adam Pascal for portraying these emotions so well. I've seen a lot of actors attempt those feelings and never have I seen them be given such amazing justice.

I know that Roger is just a character, but thank you so much Adam for really doing an amazing job. I really felt understood and heard after watching your performance. I don't know if this makes any sense at all but, thank you, from the bottom of my heart, thank you.

You solo music has inspired me greatly as well, I have both Civilian and Model Prisoner and its all I listen to...(besides, of course, my Rent soundtracks). I can't say thank you enough.

I've seen RENT three time this week. I really can't wait until the 22nd.

I am way more than excited.

Sadly, this is my first visit to the blog, so I missed out on everything, but I guess I should just say that the RENT movie...the musical...the fan base is just inspiring and incredible. I've always been a Broadway fan, but never seeing anything of RENT apart from a local performance of "Seasons of Love," I was just totally in the dark. Somehow (and I don't know how) this masterpiece had slipped past me.

But my best friend and I were out, hoping to catch a good movie, and RENT was out. We both love musicals, so bit. And we weren't disappointed in the least. Since that day back in November we've been drunk on soundtracks, video clips of the OBC, bidding on the RENT Bible on eBay, knitting scarves and trying to piece together a sweater like Mark's.

We've meticulously rehearsed lines to get every harmony just right...we've read histories and biographies and scoured the internet for any information on all the past cast members. We're hoping to see it in NYC soon.

We've gone crazy.

It's changed us and permeated our lives with its addictive nature. It's blown me away.

What's more, it's helped us through a lot of bad situations with family, loves, drugs, and death that we've encountered recently by giving us a creative (if obsessive) output for our energy.

So, I know that most of you have been rentheads from wayyyyy back and loved RENT before it's big debut on the silver screen, but better late than never, right?

Thank you to everyone who's had a hand in creating and supporting RENT in anyway.

I'm forever changed.

Hello to everyone!

-This is my first post on this blog. I truthfully can't say that I've been with Rent from the beginning. I had heard a lot about it, but never went out and bought the OBC recording. However, when the movie came out, all I kept hearing was how great it was. I was told that the acting is amazing, the music is beautiful, and the show is just a masterpiece. Now, I'm a drummer, and to some of you, that may instill the thought that I'm not a true musician (insert drummer/percussionist joke here), but I went on the word of many other musicians I know, and saw the movie. Now, for me, "everything is Rent!" I absolutely love the music, and the vocal talent of everyone is amazing, not to mention the brilliant work Jonathan Larson did on the show itself. I got the soundtrack the day after seeing the movie, and have been listening to it every day since then. I only wish I had discovered this musical earlier, but I'm so glad that I know about it now. I'm afraid I won't be able to make it to Broadway for the 10th Anniversary performances (I live in the Midwest), but I will, however, be seeing the show in Chicago at the Cadillac Palace Theatre in April. I can't wait, and I know the show is going to be amazing. To keep this post up-to-date, I am counting down the days until the DVD comes out, and if my math serves me right, then that count is down to 9!!! Only 9 days...for now, I'll continue listening to the the soundtrack...currently, I'm on What You Own (One of the best songs, in my opinion)

I'm a newbie to the whole RENT experiance, and I love it! I loved the movie (saw it twice... sorry didn't have the money to see it 10 times) and wish I could see the broadway production. Sadly however... you seem intent in staying in America leaving us little Canadians go *sniff sniff* "I want to see the brodway show of RENT."

I LOVE ANTHONY RAPP'S BOOK!!!! I'm only halfway through, cuz i'm super busy, but I WAS SOBBING! It is sooo amazing, I love love love it. I need to find time to read more...hmmm maybe i'll procrastinate on that calculus homework a little longer...senioritis here i come!!!!!!!!

ahhhhhhhhhhhh i cant wait. feb 21st is like now the best day ever. i will never be able to sleep that night i will watch the movie over and over and over again untill i memorize every line in the movie. i already know every word to every song on the cd. hahah ADAM and ANTHONY you two are like the sexiest guys who ever walked this earth! O MY GOSH i just can't wait. it will be the best day of my life. all you guys are the best! i am in love with the movie. i can't go a single day with out at least thinking about rent. every body at school knows im a renthead and half thoese people have never even heard of rent. i don't even have the inside of a locker door any more i just have like a million pics of rent. even on my binder i have pics of rent. it's the best movie ever i have to see it where ever i go thats why i keep a pic of rent in my purse. i am obsesed with the movie and i admit that. it is better then any other movie in the world. i love it and all of you amazing people! i am way too excited about rent coming out i just cant wait. 3 hours of extras it just keeps getting better and better!

After watching the documentary on the "extras" disc, I have become utterly obsessed with and jealous of Jonathan Larson's life. He strived for a dream and ended up making this enormous impact on the world. He really left his mark. All I can say is, there had better be a heaven because I NEED to have a conversation with this man someday. He truly inspires me. I never knew if I could live my dream of doing something that will be important to a lot of people. Jonathan Larson has given me hope of someday making my own mark on the world (even if it's not as huge as RENT).

For so many reasons, thank you Jonathan Larson.

Oh My God ... I come all the way from Scotland and couldnt simply wait for the UK Release of Rent So My Friend From New York Bought Me The DvD and Sent Me It WOW!!!!!! Its amazing I've only managed to watch it 30 times so far!!! i absolutely love "Take Me Or Leave Me" infact I love it all "Rent Rent Rent Rent!!!"

It's not everyday you see the Original Broadway Cast do a movie. And as for Rosario Dawson and Tracie Thoms-they were perfect additions to the cast.
