Naw, I hear you Anthony. When it comes to sport hey, it's all over. I probably would of had an ear piece radio on my hip in between takes. The distance from the set to your pc would have meant crucial seconds in a game such as baseball.

I LOVE YOU ANTHONY!!!!!!!!! No, seriously, I think you are the cutest guy to ever walk to face of the planet! I am happy to hear that you're a baseball fan because, well, it's the best sport of all time! However, the Cubs? BOSTON RED SOX ROCK MY WORLD! However, I like the Cubs too, they've also had that whole inability to win thing going on for forever! I'm sorry the wrong Chicago team won this year, but oh well.
Taye, you're so funny. I would expound about your gorgeousness as well but I know you're "very married." Isn't that what you told Ashlee Simpson? Oh, the things you learn in People Magazine...
I love you guys,
B

Anthony,
I hope that wasn't while you were in Frisco...or if it was, that you weren't too open about being a cubs fan. You could've been hurt!
I've noticed that being from SoCal all these bay area people are WAY into the Giants...I wore a dodgers hat to a game once (even tho I'm from san diego, it's SoCal vs NorCal) and almose got mugged - me, a tiny 19 year old woman (but I'm old for my age...)
And this other time...at a Giants game, my friend was rooting for the Cubs and this drunk guy bought him a girlie Giants shirt and made him put it on, because he was "cheering for the wrong team!"
Hahaaha ok..I just thought you might enjoy those antics about the bay area...

That is hilarious! Sad to say I probably would have done the same thing as Taye! I'm famous for doing things like that to my friends! Taye you're the greatest!

Oh NO! Poor Anthony! At least it was all in fun and it was a good joke, nothing too mean. Thanks for giving us these little blogs about the behind the scenes and what's your favorites, because to me, that is the best part. The movie is awesome and tonight will be my 5th time seeing it, and I also know for a fact that sometimes, what happens off camera is sometimes, better than what happens on camera, so it's cool to get a little look into what that was like for you guys. I hope that we get these interviews on the DVD and a bloopers section or gag reel as well, because to me, that's the best part. Having done stage productions in high school, I remember more about the making of than actually performing it. Anyway, awesome movie and all my wishes of continued success to all of you!
Love,
Alexandra

Evil Taye! Bad, bad Taye! Ok, just kidding! That was a great update! It really brightened my day! Anthony, you must really be a baseball fan. My attention spam if I sat alone and watched baseball is about 10 minutes. Then I have to do something else...but it's MUCH different being at a game. It's really fun. :D
Posted by: Heather on 12/02/05 at 11:35 AM
I love you guys! It looked like so much fun taping the movie. You rock Anthony! and Taye!
Posted by: Vill on 12/02/05 at 11:39 AM
I just wanted to say... I'm sooo happy that you're still keeping the blogs going! :) I love coming on this site after school and watching the new updates! You have no idea! :)
Posted by: Katie on 12/02/05 at 11:45 AM
Anthony, I would have fallen for it, too. I'd say something about how important the Cubs are to sustain human life, but I'm not a baseball fan. Sorrypleasedon'thateme.
And Taye, you make me laugh so hard. I'm horrible at pulling pranks off, but I find them thoroughly amusing. And, side note: Idina... such a lucky woman.

Well, I'm glad that the Nov. 30th blog wasn't the last video, I would have died!!! I mean, since I can't exactly see the movie EVERY DAY (although I have tried) this is the best way to get a RENThead through the day...
Anyways, since I haven't commented yet to any other entries, I just wanted to say that the movie completely made my life. This is coming from a girl who has never been able to see the show on stage, but has known the entire soundtrack by heart for years. Just finally being able to see it all play out was just wonderful, a dream come true. Everybody in the movie was just wonderful, more amazing that I would have ever thought.
Thank you so much for creating this movie, something that I can have to watch whenever I need a RENT-fix.
I love all of you guys, thank you so much for making this movie so wonderful and for thinking of your fans.
Oh, and the movie soundtrack is AMAZING!!!

Anthony, you never fail to make me smile.

I would like to nominate Taye for an Oscar for his
performance in lying to Anthony! That was a bit cruel, but all in good fun I'm sure. Bravo! Bravo!

Awwwwww! Anthony and Taye, you guys are soooo adorable and funny. Anthony, I am so thrilled to know that you are a big Cubs fan. I can just picture you in between takes running to your computer to watch the game. Baseball is my favorite sport. You rock! Taye, you are so cute how you like to play around on set. I wonder what other pranks you pulled. I love you guys. RENT ROCKS!!
Please continue posting these wonderful clips. They are the highlight of my day!

Anthony, you're my favorite.

Anthony -
you are such a nerd, haha. That's such a cute story! I hope all of these stories are on the DVD! Anyway, thanks for that story. We hope we hear more stories about the set life.
I honestly don't watch baseball, but it seems like me when I watch LOST. It's my favorite show, and it's not the same to watch it recorded, so I sit there and just stare at the screen, even during commercial... just in case, so I don't miss any part of the movie. Anyway, I 'm sure that was pointless to read, but your story reminded me of it... I can understand why you would run back and forth, is waht I'm trying to say. I loved how Taye was sitting right there, laughing at you for being gullible. I'm usually the sarcastic one, but I also sometimes have problems reading people because I'm used to giving out the sarcasm, haha. It made me laugh, thanks for the story! Taye you're hilarious!
Happy December!

Hi Anthony,
I am almost 100% certain that Mark Cohen is a true blue, die hard NY Yankee fan. Knowing how important it is to you to stay true to your character, don't you think it's basically your responsibility to be a Yankees fan?
Posted by: Lynn on 12/02/05 at 01:51 PM
Anthony...I have never been more impressed or had so much respect for a performer as I have for you. I know you must here this constantly, but you are so talented and you are also sensitive of our needs; as fans of your work and the production or RENT. I so appreciated you keeping us updated along the way of this amazing journey. Please keep the information coming...we are hungry for it.
Taye...you are hilarious! Thank you for the keeping us smiling.
I love RENT and you guys so much.
Really, I do.

[didn't watch the video yet but wanted to comment on the store]
aright.. melanie loves the idea of the RENT scarf being sold, however..... the stripes are too narrow and the colours are different. Please make it closer to how it should be if thats even possible to do at this point, I'd definitely buy one if it looked like it, but I could probably make my own better. (btw i love the idea of the rent store, and you should definitely put up more stuff..i'm putting some of the stuff on my xmas list hehe).

Anthony- Where can we find details of your book signing tour?
Posted by: Caroli on 12/02/05 at 03:33 PM
Hey everyone, the word is that Rent needs to make MUCH BETTER box office this weekend in order to stay in wide release. If you can, please try to tell everyone you know to see it this weekend, or it will disappear from most theatres right away. Take anyone and everyone you know!!!!
Posted by: ariadne on 12/02/05 at 04:15 PM
Shame on you Taye. But seriously I'm sure Anthony took it all in stride. I just have to say how much I love you both. Anthony- you are one of the most amazing performers to have ever walked this planet. I'm going to see Rent on stage for the very first time at the Nederlander in NY on sunday. I know I'll love it, but no one could ever play Mark as good. Anthony-you are definitive Mark Cohen for me.
Posted by: Jessica on 12/02/05 at 04:15 PM

So on one of the older blogs you guys mention something about a ten year celebration in 2006...sometime in April, I take it?
Will you be able to update on this site with the specs, cause I assume it's going to be a publicity thing...
Hmmm maybe you guys could do another US tour for like three months or something. Yeah, that would be awesome.

Greetings all!
I just have a quick note I wanted to add. First, very funny, I love pranks and people who can take a joke, so kudos to you.
Secondly, I just wanted to say that a lot of the time the midwest is forgotten, but I wanted to let everyone know that here in the midwest the film is going over extremely well. I have seen the movie more then a couple of times and have talked to many people that went to other showings and we all commented on how the theatre was always sold out. So, just wanted to let people know that the message is reaching the masses even here in South Dakota. We are not so in the dark like many may believe. The midwest is really changing and I love it. SO, kudos to all involved. Just thought curious minds might like to know what is happening in no mans land.
Wishing everyone well!

This is off the topic of your blog entry, i just want to make sure you get to read this. I want to tell you how much this movie has effected my life. The first play that I remember going to was Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream at a local theater in Tacoma, WA. I was only six years old, so I didn't understand a word that was being said. All that I remember was Puck and how the actor would repeatedly say his name whenever he was moving. Being six, I thought that it was the funniest thing in the world and since then I have been interested in theater. When I got into high school, I worked on the first show that I could. It was the play "When Ya Comin' Back, Red Ryder?" and I was the stage manager. It was kinda scary casue there has never been a freshman who has stage managed before BUT... I have to say those two months were some of the best I have had. I can't explain it, but I am sure you know the feeling that I felt on opening night... and then the relief after the hearing the applause at the end of the show. THIS brings me to why I am asking you to read this. I got the same feeling from watching Rent as I did when the house lights went out on opening night. Since watching Rent, I know that I have to work in theater. That feeling that it gave me was the best feeling that I have ever felt. So thank you for helping put together this film. I only hope that I can someday work on a show that is so amazing as this one.
I was reading the quotes from people who have worked on Rent and found one (well, more than one) from you
"Rent creates this little world that, although it has AIDS and drug addiction, is sort of a social ideal. None of the characters are prejudiced; they're all friends, and everybody loves each other. It's a fantasy world I think everybody wishes could be true."
I though wow how true is that. I was think how much I would do to live the life of any of these characters but I couldn't figure out why and you pin pointed it. I just can't get this story out of my head and I only wish that I could see the play. I hope that you tell all of those who worked on this show with you that I am eternally greatful and, I just can't explain how much this show has messed up my head... But I wouldn't have it any other way.
Thank you so much! I appreciate what you do.
Love,
Katie
P.S. I can't wait for your book to come out!
Posted by: Katie Young on 12/03/05 at 05:50 PM
Wow,
My initial reason for seeing rent, was because my favorite actor (Taye Diggs) was in it. I had no clue what it was about, but I knew it had to be good, really good and funny.
I just finished my first big musical "Annie Get Your Gun" as Chief Sitting Bull, and the entire cast had (and still is) been talkinb about "Rent" and how great is was going to be. I had all the songs memorized before I knew what it was about. So curious took over and I finally watched it last night.
There were so many moments when tears were close. And I don't cry to often, but Angel dying was worst thing ever. Sorry Taye, but that was my favorite character. I can definitely say that this is what I want to do for a living. This is a show everyone should see, and I hope we are able to do it sometime.
Peace Love & God Bless

Posted by: Barbara on 12/04/05 at 07:10 AM
Let me just tell you guys Rent has been my life since I was 7. I long to be one of the 8 Bohemians and I know that I have to do something with the play for the rest of my life or I will explode. The problem is I dont have the right racial background to be an Bohmeian, which leaves the onsomble, the slight problem being I cant dance. . . Ah well. As long is Rent is on the stage I will be happy. The feeling I get when I see it can not be replicated by anything in this world. Thank you for bringing that to me whenever I want it in movie theaters.

Mindy

Hahahahaha Taye and Anthony...I love you guys. Taye, I would definitely do something like that! But Anthony, I feel your pain with sports...I'm more into Football though ;). If the Pittsburgh Steelers are on I drop everything I'm doing, put on a Steeler shirt and SPRINT to the couch to watch the game...and let's just say I'm not a runner! Hmm...wonder if the Cubs ever won that game? Lol.

And once again I come off this blog laughing my head off like crazy...Taye, you're funny. Anthony, you're gullible. =P Well, for that one time, anyways. Hey, no worries, I'm gullible too...lol. I'm not a Cubs fan tho...*cringes* BTW, Taye, if acting ever starts to go down the drain, there's always the need of a good stand-up comedian...
Giggles and hugs,

Hey Anthony, I saw you on IMDB and that you're from Joliet, IL. So am I. I hope that I make it all the way to movies and broadway like you did. Total inspiration you are. My partner of 7 years is HIV+ so we tend to live every day to the fullest. even if we just sit home and cuddle.

Hey Anthony! I have a quick question. Is the scarf you wear dark blue and grey, or dark blue and white? By the way I am a friend of David. He told me that you were friends with him. I thought that was cool!

That's a good one! It makes me wonder how much stuff got pulled onstage, I mean, you can't do live theatre without practical joking.
