Tracie: Good thing you did this! Lucky you got that coach.

Wilson: Ahaha. Wilson wearing tight undies. Your voice really is amazing. I just start the Rent soundtrack at night and I fall asleep while listening. I alwyas stay up for "I'll Cover You" ;-)

Posted by: Renthead Rebecca on 12/08/05 at 04:31 PM

This was great! I am in the school choir and it was great to hear how pros warm up.

TRACIE: You have a great voice and I am so glad that you were able to get back on track for this film.

WILSON: You are so talented. It's great that the AMAZING talent you possess is natural. I would have thought that you would have had to work for your range. That has been my biggest question and I am so relieved it was answered. My next pending question for you is.....WILL YOU PLEASE MARRY ME? I ahve asked that like a million times but like....I love you. You portray my favorite character and I love you so much for it. I mean, I cried everytime I saw the movie starting when you see Angle and Collins on the subway. And I am not talking little tears, I am talking MAJOR HYSTERICS! If you saw me on the street and didn't know Angel was my favorite character and that I wanted to marry you, you would ahve thought my entire family had just died ten seconds before. So, I love you Wilson and I always will.

Keep posting cuz I love it!

With a 1000 sweet kisses, I will cover you:

<3 always:

Wow! Awesome voices to all the cast! I am going to be here in the great state of alabama waiting for chris to direct the "Aida" movie with Adam as Radames...Idina as Amneris...and Tracie as Aida...maybe wilson or taye as mereb!! It would be awesome!!!
Love all you guys! Keep up the good work!

Posted by: Megan M. on 12/08/05 at 04:35 PM

AH HA! We get the big secrets from the big celebrities! So now we know, just open your mouth, make noise, and wear tight underwear! I remember what my chorus teacher made us do, and it didn't involve any of that, our warm up oddly enough, sounded to me like something out of Old MacDonald. We used to have to sing, Ma-ah, May-ay, Me-ee, Mo-oh, Mooo. What this accomplished I have no idea, but I remember doing it. Great Blogs everyone!

Love,
Alexandra

Hey Tracie,
That is really helpful to me because sometimes when I do belt it does feel like I am going to lose my voice or really hurt myself. That's a cool way of thinking sbout it and I will definitley remember that. By the way I saw RENT the first day it came out (yes and its taken me this long to post a comment) it was amazing!!!! Tango:Maureen was so cool. You were amazing and I dont think anybody could have done a better job! I am going to see it again probably 10 times It was so moving for the first time I cried in a movie!!!
from,
Hannah
P.S. Did I mention you were wonderful?

Posted by: Stefanie on 12/08/05 at 08:17 PM

Tracie - we are glad that you got a coach. You sounded amazing in the movie!

Wilson - Tenor 1, anyone? haha "Oh, you wore them today, I see" That was HILARIOUS, Jesse!

Such wonderful things that you taught me today! I should let my future choir directors know your secrets, so we can stop with all of our silliness and have our fake tenors wear tight underwear at our next concert!

Great posts guys! I hope you ask the rest of the csat this, because I'm very interested to what they would have replied. Were all of these hundreds of questions done in one sitting? That's amazing! And more amazing that you give them to us through this website!

Priceless,
Joyce

Wilson, right on! Boy oh boy, these video blogs always put a smile on my face. I just drove for a few hours on the highway jamming out to the rent soundtrack the whole time so my throat hurts a little from mimmicking all of you guys, with the high notes and the low notes. Im not all that sure if dancing while driving is all that safe, but thats what I was doing, so im sure I made a few people laugh tonight.

Keep me smiling guys!

That is really different on how my choir warms up. First we breath deeply and run around the room. Then we sing ah, ay, ee, oh, oo. Then we would sing stuff like, "Sta-cat-to is short and sna-a-a-a-py."

I think we should do how you guys warm up.

Posted by: Carla on 12/08/05 at 09:27 PM

Tracie, I'm so glad that you got this part and that you finally came back to the world of musicals. Your voice is phenomenal. Wilson, you are hilarious and your voice is wonderful.

Idina..
I am really happy and depressed right now.
you jsut signed a wicked poster of mine that i sent to the public theatres, signed it, and sent it back with another signed playbill...now this is at my dad's house, which is probably like 2 miles away this is insane! i am going to be up all night...and he wont give it to me untill hannukah! and even then, its not allowed to leave his house!i only go there every other weekend..meh...sorry this is just really annoying me. knowing that there is a signed idina menzel poster 2 miles away, and i am sitting here, blogging, is just really sad.

also on the bright side..

THANK YOU SOO MUCH. i didnt even ask for a see what i wanna see playbill, but you sent me one anyways...waaaa! you are such an amazing person

You both are too cute. Tracie, I am so glad that you found a way to warm up your voice without killing it. Otherwise, we wouldn't have the amazing Joanne that you are or be able to hear your beautiful voice. Wilson... wow. Tight underwear, huh? Never knew. ;) No seriously, it's surprising to find out that you never really trained vocally until after you started. You are extremely gifted... in more ways than one.
Love from a true believer in K'bunk, Maine, Jill.
HOLLA!

Well now I know the secret to warming up my voice!

I hope the blogs never go away, haha. I don't know what I'd do!

Posted by: Sara Corkum on 12/09/05 at 07:36 AM

Words can't describe how much this musical has meant to me for about 8 years. There are so many issues in this musical that are so dear and true to my heart. You all have saved me in many emotional turmoils. God Bless you guys and your amazing talent. I'm so fortunate to have been able to see you all live. I was shocked (in a very good way) that you all were able to be a part of this film. I was WORRIED LIKE ALL HELL that they'd put some friggin' A-list actors in there. You all are too talented than them. I hope you're having the time of your lives *sniff* we all absolutely love you.

Posted by: Tracy C. on 12/09/05 at 07:58 AM

Tracie, I love you more and more every time I see you. You seem like the sweetest person and you are so amazingly talented.

P.S....JEsse, that was one of the funniest things i've ever heard..." Oh, you wore them today I see." and then Wilson going on with what he was trying to say, stopping in the middle and being like "oh, yea". These make my day

<3 Renthead Rebecca

P.S: I dunno who runs this website, but whoever it is, THANK YOU!

Posted by: Renthead Rebecca on 12/09/05 at 08:22 AM

Glad for the warm ups and that they worked out for you, but it's very obvious that they did, because ALL of you sounded incredible. So much so that from the very opening of the movie I got cold chills on my arms and they did not once leave. It was incredible and I was in awe the entire time. Your voices are truly gifts and I hope you keep giving them!

Ahhhh, just saw it again. Tracie, your dress in the second half of Tango:Maureen is so georgus. And Wilson, i thought of so, so many things to say about Angel throught the movie, but i can't list them all now. All i can say is it was awesome. I especialy liked your face when Jesse spins you around on the table during Today 4 You. By the way, what do you say to Jesse in spanish after Maureen calls? Just wondering.

<3 Renthead Rebecca

P.S....Wilson, what kind of nail polosh does Angel wear, and where can i find it? I love it.

Again brilliant is the only word I can think of to describe the cast. Tracie your voice & acting are amazing. I never really focused on Joanna's role in Rent until I saw the movie & I instantly fell in love with her :)

Posted by: Lisa Beach on 12/09/05 at 04:22 PM

i like the word BLOOMERS lol to funny my dad used to say that

Tracie- you r just amazing, i didn't even know that rent existed until i was at the movoes with my boyfriend and we were talking throught the previews, and the RENT preview came up and i stopped mid sentence and was like WOW THAT GIRL CAN SING (ok random little side note)

Wilson- Too funny you and Jesse just crack me up (it sounds like you guys had a lot of fun making this movie) I absolutly fell in love with "Angel" you did such an amazing job on that too! AAAAAAHHHHHHHH too funny i liked how you were in the middle of laughing when you did that too

<3 MEL

another random note- everything anyone says anymore i can instantly find a way to tie it to RENT and my friend and i just burst into song it is kinda funny (if you know rent)

<3 MEL

Posted by: Melissa on 12/09/05 at 05:29 PM

Thanks for the blogs! I hope to hear from all of you soon! Wilson you are so funny. I have a question for you Wilson; What made you want to become an actor? Talk to you later.

I love you Wilson! =)

Rachel

Hehehe. It was nice to hear about that. Wilson in tight underwear, warming up; hard to picture. :P Much love to everyone in the cast.

Posted by: Jasmine on 12/10/05 at 09:00 AM

Oh my gosh! That was so funny!
Tracie- You have an incredible voice! I'm sure you have heard that so many times! But, it's true...
Wilson- You are my favorite person in the whole wide world! I live about as far away from meeting you as I can get(Charles Town, West Virginia). But that is my dream! I've been lucky. I've visited NYC a lot. And I saw the play with the original cast. I cryed when Angel died for 5 hours straight in counting! lol. You also have an incredible voice. I know you read these and I just want to tell you I'm so happy to join this group! Hope to meet you in person...someday! Until then, more blogs and "No Day But Today!"

Posted by: Caleigh on 12/10/05 at 02:17 PM

Tracie,
we're all so glad that you found the perfect way to warm up your voice, because, honey, when you hit those notes you're AMAZING!

Wilson,
Wow The fact that you never had a vocal coach just goes to show how talented you are. But, hey, when you have the whole Angel costume on it's gotta help you get into character, including the tight undies, and hit those oh so ANGEL notes in the music.

Lots of Love,

Charlotte
Give into love or live in fear

Posted by: Charlotte on 12/10/05 at 07:24 PM

Thank you guys for that! I'm not a singer (gosh, no) but I'm always singing *cough - screeching* around the house and stuff, and my voice has been going hoarse from singing too much, lol. It's good to know that my voice will hold me if I get it going. And I'm always singing RENT, always, or humming...don't know if my neighbors can hear me screech "Out Tonight" at the top of my lungs, but hey, it's fun.

Your voices are CRAZY INCREDIBLE. Crazy. I go mad over all of the casts voices. And Wilson, you are definitely wearing that underwear...haha. =P That was hilarious.

~Alex

P.S. I'm humbled down to my bones and so thankful that you guys are STILL giving us this blog, still reaching out to us after everything you've done and beyond the release date...heartwarming, lemme tell ya.

I'm loving the usage of the word "bloomers"... ahahahahaa. And that's all I have to say about that.

Nicole

Posted by: Nicole on 12/12/05 at 12:57 PM

To the Cast:

That is really cool. I have always wondered how a musical performer warms up their voice rather than a more classical performer warms up their voice. It has been a really hard struggle for me to deal with that. I was taking voice lessons from this really crazy voice coach who I could hardly understand. I was getting ready for the show Oklahoma and I was Ado Annie and this voice coach was trying to push the classical way of singing. It was not working for me and by the performance I did not see the character as a person who could sing with an operatic voice let alone sing at all very well. I saw her as some one with a very anoying and goofy voice so when I can time to sing, I sounded like I didn't really know what I was doing, but it turned out great because the character didn't know either and I did sound that bad. Just bad enough to make the character funny and loved. But it is very hard to find that balance in singing and all of you have done amazing in this movie it is wonderful. Thank you.

Peace, Love, and Forget regret or life is yours to miss
XOXO

Tracie, I have a quick question for you...I know that you said that ever since you saw rent you knew that you wanted to be a part of the production, but now having finished the movie would you ever consider participating in the actual musical?

Posted by: caylie on 12/13/05 at 03:50 PM

I thought that this movie was going to be bad then my friends and I went to see it and it made me cry. I really love Angel's character!

Tracie, you have an amzing voice, i love it, so fresh and angelic - i listen to your solos constablty, grl uve got some major talent! and im sure u dont need to hear this from some stupid 16 yr old grl, but you guys are really amazing and talented and i admire each and every one of you with all my heart.
Much love,

Hey Tracie!!

Just wanted to leave you a little farewell comment as the blog sadly comes to an end. I know you are one of the cast members who constantly reads these entries so I just wanted to say...

You are truly an inspiration. Your performance was just dead on. You re-invented the part of Joanne and brought so much more depth and power to the role in so many ways. As a singer myself, I just want to say that I think your voice is just so breathtaking..it literally gives me chills. You sing with such an ease that I wonder if you are human at times. Your talents are truly without limits. You have such a relatable, accessible personality and it warms my heart every time I watch your blog entries. So thank you!!!

Thank you for inspiring me in all of my singing and acting. I hope we can perform on stage together some day..what an honor that would be.

Your BIG BIG avid RENT fan!

Tracie!

You're outstanding! What a tearjerking performance. I want that dress that you wear in Tango Maureen...it's an awesome dress! Thanks for being a blog reader...that rocks! Your voice is so great! Thanks for all the time and effort you put into this film. Your work paid off I think. You're an amazing performer and you've earned a ton of respect from all these bloggers and me:)

Thanks for the voice tip. I have issues with projecting(unlike yourself!) so that was a good tip. I'm going to keep working on that with my voice teacher. Keep singing please, it's a gift to all who hear.

I can't name the number of times I've said "it won't work!" to friends when something frustrates me! Your "take me or leave me" performance with Idina was so fantastic! I respect the two of you so very much. Thank you for your hard work, again. I feel like I've gotten to know you through your work, and what a blessing. Take me or leave me is a new motto I can live by, so thanks for putting your heart into that song. It means the world.

xoxo,
Brittany

mmmmmm...tight undies. you gotta love 'em. maybe i should follow jesses advice and just wear some, and maybe i could actually sing. Ha, just kidding. But seriously. I love how you actually had to....were they Women's tight underwear? cause aw, i feel your pain. but it's just one of the very few disadvantages to playing Angel.

Love you all, and God bless.

Tracie--*sigh* u are amazing.... this is my first time commenting on here! You're such an amazing actress and singer! I do my high school dramas and musicals and I get pretty good parts but I wouldnt be able to get thru all the stress without turning on Rent at the end of the day and just hanging out. My friend and I love to sing Take Me Or Leave me together..even tho its hard for me to belt that high I still manage to have something semi-good come out and kill my throat. lol...i should stop that lol. Ive seen the movie twice and I cant wait for the DVD 2 come out! I LOVE YOU!

I really wish I could sing. I would love to be in a musical like this.

Posted by: Maggie on 12/30/05 at 05:54 PM

I've been trying to watch these vids on my computer, but my computer won't load them up! GRRR! Well, our choir director doesn't warm us up, he just gives out books and waits for us to shut up and sing. That's why the conserts suck.....anywho....I love singing and dancing, and if my computer ever works right I'll comment about the interveiws. I love you all so much. And Idina, I spelled your name wrong somwhere, sorry, oh and I'm gonna take a Tango lesson soon. You guys inspired me to get experince so that as soon as a turn 18 (only 5 more years) I can move to NY and try around there to be a portion as famous as you all. And while I'm on a subway, I'm not holdin back on dacin' lol, I hope I don't get in too much trouble....lol! Mwah!

I hope you're still reading these. This might sound pathetic but I still haven't seen your movie. I didn't really hear about it until last month really. My mom got me the soundtrack for Christmas and I just fell in love with the songs. So I've watched little clips of the movie and I've watched all of these blogs and I love them. I'm dying to see the movie. Wilson I think you are a wonderful singer and you are hilarious in these blogs.
I am waiting for the movie to come out on dvd so I can buy it and watch it about a thousand times, because the movie just left the theaters!! LOL

Posted by: Cassidy on 01/12/06 at 04:40 PM

HaHA that was funny! ill remember when i ATEMPT to sing to wear tight underwear maybe it will help me not sound horible haha well i hope no one ever looses their voice because they are all amazing!!

Posted by: Maggie on 01/13/06 at 03:35 PM

Hehe...I love this movie like oodles and boodles. I love Angel...Wilson you are amazing. You make a very pretty girl. Yes, there was a compliment in there somewhere. Tracie, that note you hit in Seasons of Love blows my mind! I can't wait until the DVD comes out. I've got the movie and broadway soundtracks. It's amazing how different they are, I wish they would've kept "You okay, honey?" in the movie. I love every song with the "Santa Fe" background. Hope you guys are still reading these. Love to the whole cast, Idina, Taye, Wilson, Jesse, Tracie, Anthony, Adam, and Rosario.

i only read the first few comments, and i reached to the comment where someone was inpired to be a broadway actress. to whoever, i was too inspired by idina, and currently, i'm saving up for voice lessons and i'm working really hard to get into julliard [like tracie!! you go girl!]. my hopes dropped slightly when i saw that the tuition alone was about 2,400 dollars, but i'm very dedicated and hey, i'm only 12 so i've got a loong way to go...12 more days until rent comes out on dvd! i'm wayy excited! [friends and i are having a rent party ;] ]

I know that eventually things that us undying fans say become trite, but still I can't rest until it's been said. The movie, the play, the actors, the characters, the cinematography...AMAZING. Heredia, you conveyed a whole new form of music to my soul. I adore music myself, and it always feels great to hear someone hit that right note. Whatever it is that we all keep gushing about in regards to you; you've been unduly blessed with. Your face hit the screen/stage, and I knew there would be something special. Keep up the fantabulous work, and of course my eyes will be peeled for your new movie. Once I get into the biz, we just HAVE to do lunch! (heart ya!)

hi tracie-

i thought i'd stop by and say that you were great in the movie- i've never had the priviledge of seeing the musical, but i've had the soundtrack for years and i wasn't sure if i could listen to the music with someone different playing joanne, but you were amazing. your on-screen relationship seemed 100% natural, and i can't express in writing how much maureen and joanne's relationship in rent has affected me. it's also really cool that you're from b-more. i'm from rockville and it's awesome everytime someone from md becomes famous. i'm in class now and i have to go so i can't get in everything that i wanted to say, but basically i just wanted to say that you were extrememly awesome.

I didn't think when my friends said, "Rent" this or "Rent" that, that they were serious about the unbelievable power of this movie. I was late seeing it but let me tell you something. I saw it once and I liked it, I saw it twice and I loved it. The next day I went home to my Mom and subtly asked for money to buy the Soundtrack. I have not listened to anything else since I got that. Rent plays in my car, in my dorm room, on my MP3 player. I've seen the movie several times since then, I could quote lines, dances, songs. I'm in love. This is one of the most powerful things I've seen and the impression will last a lifetime. I'm so thankful you put this on a movie!

Posted by: Danyel on 03/25/06 at 01:42 PM

Wilson i am one of your biggest fans . I think you are the best. I love your charater Angel. She is my favorite out of all the ones on rent.

Posted by: Brittany on 03/30/06 at 08:06 AM

dear wilson you are my idiol i listen to your songs evernight before i go to sleep. Curiousity i was wondering is there going to be a part 2 to rent . If so can you let m now when i would really want to go see it. Did you really kiss tom.

I'm not really sure if these things are even really checked anymore but I just found this site today so i thought I'd try anyhow.

Anyway, I've been acting since I knew how to walk, and singing just as long. I love it and it's all I do. All the songs in my cd case are broadway songs and all my friends tease me about it endlessly. My mom is actually a High School theatre director so my whole life is literally acting.

I didn't see this in theatres but i bought the DVD the day it came out and watched it. I had the soundtrack for months and it's pretty much all I ever listen to. So I knew the outline of the plot and some of my fellow broadway fans had seen it as well. I've seen the movie several times and I just think that everyone is so talented and special and my favorite part is that so many of the cast members were the originals from broadway.

Last night, I saw the documentary about Jonathan Larson's life on the extra DVD or whatever and I thought that it was ah-mazing and how he went through those struggles and how RENT really relates to him so much.

This movie/musical has really inspired me and i definitely admire everyone in the cast so much because I know all the acting and singing can be so tiring and these roles seem to be difficult things to do. But at the end of the day, (for me at least) it's all worth it on opening night and seeing everything just come together so perfectly. I love it and it's what i live for.

I know this was a novel, but I'm not very good with words and this is just how I feel, I suppose. Hahaha. Everyone who was ever involved in RENT was amazing and thank you for such a wonderful show. =]]
