Hey Wilson:
You rock!! I love you so much! You are so talented. I love your voice. How do you get to those super high notes? Do you train for it or does it just come naturally? I would love to know because I respect you so much for portraying this amazing role. I love love love love you!!!!! Keep up the good work. Let us RENThead's know if you have any upcoming projects or websites. I would love to know about them. I look up to you in so many ways.

Yeah angle! I saw an advanced screening of the film, and i can not wait to see it again!! I want to thank all of you for keeping us fans up to date by posting videos and letters on the blog, and awnsering our questions, it means so much to us. I was amazed at how good the film was, and it really stayed true to the show, but was very well adapted to film. The acting was amazing and during the i'll cover you reprise i cried. Chris Columbus, i think this is by far you best directing job yet, and you deserve to be nominated for an oscar. I was disopointed when i heard that halloween and the second half of goodbye love was cut, but i have to say that i can see why you cut them and the film flowed better without them. but i still hope they will be in deleated scenes on the dvd. I have many friends who had never scene the musical/or heard of it, who loved it. I even have a friend who thinks that musicals are the worst thing ever, and she liked it. Kudos to all of you. Forget, regret or life is yours to miss.

My dear sweet Wilson~
I didn't think it was possible for me to love you more. After I met you in Bryant Park back in August, I have been your biggest fan. Now that I have seen the movie twice, and am about to leave to go see it again...I'm amazed at your performance in this film.
You were heartbreaking and YOU made the film for me.
I hope you get recognized for it this year at the awards, but even if you don't, remember that you're number 1 in my heart!!
Love,
Beth

I just wanted to take a few minutes to say that the film is amazing. It is everything I hoped it would be and more. I feel proud, which is funny because I'm not even involved with any of this process, but I am just so unbelieveably happy with the film and you guys. I really hope that people catch on to this film and go see it and embrace it, because they'll never forget it! Thank you for all your hard work filming and for putting up with us wild crazy fans, and thank you for this blog...how often do you get to read comments from actors while they film a movie? You guys really put your heart into not only this movie, but the show, and everything around it. Thanks so much!

Jesse and Wilson,
I have already seen the movie twice and I just want to say. You guys made me sb like a BABY! I started to cry when Rosario sang "Without You" and by the end of that song, when Angel is in the hospital bed and Collins is with him...her...crying, I had tears streaming down my cheeks. I cried even harder during the funeral scene. When I saw the movie the second time, I was prety much crying my eyes out by the end of "Without You" and I was worried for my eyes' health because I knew what was coming after that scene. I just let loose and all of my emotions came streaming out during that song. Thank you both so much! Thanks to the rest of the cast as well. Jesse your voice is just so beautiful and when I listen to that song on the CD t makes me cry so hard!!! Thank you all so much again for what you do.

HEY! oh my gosh! i love that seen! it was the best! i loved the outfit too!

Wilson, baby:
You were fabulous in your portrayal of Angel. Ever since I met you and you hugged me, my love for both you and Angel has grown to an exponential degree. Since I have ridiculously large crushes on both you and Angel, it's hard to handle the wave of excitement that comes whenever you two are mentioned.
By the way, it's a little awkward having a crush on Angel. Does that make me a lesbian or not? ;P
I've seen the movie multiple times and every time I fall in love with you more. Although everyone was fabulous, your performance stands out to me. You capture the spirit of Angel unbelievably perfectly. If you don't win an Oscar for your performance, I will come up with a load of conspiracy theories.
I'm proud to say that my locker is flooded over with pictures of you!
Very much love,
Natalie, the quintessential fangirl.

This movie made me cry several times and thats saying a lot since I don't get too emotional at movies I see so BRAVO to you all for the terrific tallent. Wilson you should totally win an oscar for your role as Angle, because you were the bomb and if I may be so bold as to say you looked smokin as a woman!!! The cast and crew of Rent will forever rock in my heart!!

Ohhhh, Wilson and Jesse, I heart you both. You two are definitely my favorites. Shh, don't tell the others! (I heart you guys, too.) The first time I saw the movie, I was teary-eyed from Jesse's "I'll Cover You-Reprise", and then I lost it with that last shot of Angel in Mark's movie. And I couldn't help grinning like and idiot in the first "I'll Cover You" and "Santa Fe."

Posted by: Jamilah on 11/26/05 at 06:29 PM
HEY GUYS,
GREAT JOB!!! Oh, how AWESOME, you ALL were.
I must say that I was a bit "skeptical" about going to see a "predominant" gay movie. But I really did see it as a movie about love, friends, and commitment. It didn't matter that anyone was gay.
I also went to support Jesse for my son, and to think that I thought Jesse was doing everyone a great service by being in the movie. Little did I know each of you could hold your own. All of you are true professionals.
Angel, I loved the scence where you had on the Santa outfit. I was almost jumping out of my seat with excitment.
MiMi, girl I thought you were, possibly a little timid and what-have-you. I was blown away when I saw your performance. Great Job!
The rest of you were equally as good.
Taye, my husband loved you. Ditto for me.
Idina, I didn't know you had it in you. I loved the scene at the Reception Party.
Adam, Anthony, and Traci, I didn't forget about you guys. Traci after hearing you sing, I expected you to be good. You didn't disappoint, and neither did Adam and Anthony. Wonderful job guys.
Jesse, my man, you were excellent as you always are. Your voice runs CHILLS up and down spines. I can't wait to hear you singing some MARVIN GAYE lyrics.
Chris Coloumbus, you did a superb job!!! Thanks for bringing this movie to the theatres.
Look forward to seeing the DVD's in stores soon.
Posted by: Angela on 11/26/05 at 07:16 PM
I only wish that I had the chance to see the stage version..I can't imagine what it would be like to see you all in person! Wilson, you certainly deserve an Oscar for your performance as Angel...you have the most amazing smoldering eyes and your scenes with Jesse were so believable! I kept forgetting that I was looking at a guy! Jesse..who knew the sexy detective on T.V. could sing and dance also. Oh, that amazing smile! This movie is truly something very special!!!

I love that scene so much. Angel was my FAVORITE character. I have seen it twice already. That movie is amazing, and it really does open your eyes and change lives. Wow! Thanks for having the videos so I can get pieces of it when I can't make it to the theater!

I want to tell the whole cast how awsome the movie was. I saw the very first showing the very first day. I live almost a hour from the closest movie theater, but that didn't stop me from going and seeing it. I want to see it again, but i don't know if I will be able.
Wilson, I have to say Today 4 u has not always been my favroite song but after seeing the moive it now is. Of course slowly through the years every song seems to take it's turn as my favroite song. I guess I just am in love with Rent.

Alright, I may have been the only one, but I definately cried during this scene the second time I saw it. Wilson was absolutely AMAZING, which really isn't surprising. But seriously, those heels looked realy painful, so I can't even imagine how much they would hurt for some guy having to dance around in them.
Much Love,

Posted by: Julia on 11/26/05 at 11:56 PM
I absolutely fell in love with your character while watching the movie! My friends and I were talking about who our favorite characters were as we were walking out of the theater, and we all kind of said in unison "ANGEL!"
Unfortunately, I haven't had the opportunity to see Rent on Broadway, which made me want to see the movie even more! I've probably listened to the original soundtrack about 2,000 times, and all of the meanings and themes just kind of slipped into place as soon as I saw the movie.
I just want to say thanks to the whole cast for playing all these inspiring characters. Rent has truly had a huge impact on my life.
Posted by: Bridget on 11/27/05 at 12:05 AM
Sitting in the theater watching this movie...everybody was totally in love with you Wilson! You break my heart.
Posted by: Geoffrey on 11/27/05 at 02:19 AM
WILSON YOU ARE AWESOME! I love angel even more now then I did before. As soon as Today 4 U came on the screen and you were in the santa outfit I smiled so big. I also love how when you are breaking off the padlock and Collins goes "Your drunk" and then Angels says "No, I'm not." Oh I just love it all! Rock on!
Posted by: Ashley on 11/27/05 at 06:20 AM
P. S.
I nearly cried at the funeral scene when you everyone started to sing, That's important because I never cry at movies.

E-mail me and tell me where you got it LOL.

OH MY GOD!!! I can't believe how AMAZING the film was----I was worried and nervous at first, because I loved the musical so much. I saw it three times in Madison, WI (I'm a displaced New Yorker, what can I say??). I first discovered Rent by hearing the
"Best of" soundtrack---I heard "Today 4 u" and instantly fell in love with it. I then went and got the entire 2 CD collection and couldn't believe how amazing it was. After seeing the musical three times---and waiting in line 2 hours to snag the best tickets/seats in the house----I became a bonafide RENThead.
The movie was different from the musical, but touching and lovely... ANGEL, you ROCK!!! Gurrl, I didn't think "Today 4 U" could get any better but you outdid yourself!!! And the black and white photo at the end---well, you made the movie. They'd better give you your props at awards time...btw, you looked VERY hot with a goatee (forgot what TV show you were on, promoting the movie, w/ the rest of the cast). Speaking of HOT...
Jesse L. Martin, my boyfriend already knows that I have a SERIOUS crush on you---and I had to buy the movie soundtrack just to get the movie version of "I'll Cover You". Oh man---you can sing it!!! I just put that track on repeat and I'm totally moved. You are so gifted (and beautiful!!!) and in interviews you seem genuinely nice.
Honestly, I thought "La Vie Boheme" lost some of its punch in the movie. It's actually got a lot of rich cultural references that are great "teachable moments" which got lost in some of the frantic-ness of the scene.
Maureen's performance art scene is better in the movie than the musical (go figure), and the "Tango Maureen" scene with Mark and Joanne was inspired. Jonathan would be proud, I believe.
Love, in all its flavors and nuances, is a wonderful thing, is it not?
Yes, professors can be RENTheads too! =)
Rock on!!!
Posted by: Diane on 11/27/05 at 09:06 AM
I've owned the cast album for years, I've seen the show, I know all the music, etc, and I went to the movie with my oldest Renthead buddy ever, Leslie.
We knew it was coming.
But we were clutching each other, sobbing, throughout that part of the movie and afterwards. Really loudly. The people next to us kept saying "It's just a movie, don't worry" but we couldn't handle it.
The entire thing was one of the most moving things I've ever experienced. It was amazing.
LOL, in the car on the way home, we rolled down our windows, and we were singing at the top of our lungs "BISEXUALS TRISEXUALS CARCINOGENS HALLUCINOGENS MEN PEE WEE HERMAN GERMAN WINE TURPENTINE ANTONIONI BERTOLUCCI KUROSAWA CARMINA BURANA!" etc... No one called the cops, either... to our knowledge.
THANK YOU GUYS SO MUCH!!! I LOVE YOU!!! *Joins the parade of fangirls*

To Wilson and Jesse:
Before I begin, let me say that I have a really big crush on Angel. Just listening to the original Broadway soundtrack and from the clips that you guys gave us (THANK YOU SO MUCH), I fell in love with her. She is just so cute.
When I was reading the comments here, this came on my CD, haha. That makes me so happy.
I just saw RENT today and Wilson, you are truly amazing. You had me squealing in delight most of the time, and your singing voice makes me so happy, you have no idea.
I loved my friend's reaction to this song.
"Wait... wait, she killed the dog?"
She did, however, love your outfit. And I loved your entire wardrobe. Props to the costume guys!
Jesse... your performance was simply amazing. Your combined efforts with Wilson made me sobbing like a baby at the Halloween part and giggling like a schoolgirl at "Santa Fe".
Honestly, I love you guys so much. Don't know what I would do without you!
(To marijuana!)
...sorry, just had to get that out.
Posted by: Paigery on 11/27/05 at 05:18 PM
OMG I just got home from seeing RENT for the 2nd time this weekend. I saw it on Friday and today (Sunday). I love it!! I am a self proclaimed "RENT-head". I love Angel and Collin's characters. I think their relationship is the best in the whole movie. Isn't that what everyone is looking for, in some way or another? Wilson and Jesse really made me love the movie. Their chemistry is awesome!!! It's soo cool that you guys worked together in the broadway show too! Im sorry i missed it!
Well, all I know is I never cry at movies, but this one almost made me cry.. twice.
Wilson- I'M FROM BROOKLYN TOO!! :)
Let us know when your website comes out!!
Much Love!!!!!!!!!!
ANSWER BACK!!!!! :)

I tried posting this morning but it didn't take. I just want to point out the fact that in the movie, they don't just say December 24th, 9PM--they say December 24th 1989! In Today 4 U, Angel references Thelma and Louise, but that movie didn't come out until 1991. They don't have that problem in the play because they never say a year. Other than that, I LOVED the movie.
Posted by: Diane on 11/27/05 at 05:40 PM
i wanted to say that i enjoyed the movie in detroit!!
i saw the play when it was here at the fisher theatre and i kept trying to describe it to people but it kept coming out like this
"they were dancing on the table about rent...and...someone was wearing this santa dress and someone...it was sad but so good!!)
unintelligable utterances...like a closed captioned rap song..
the ensamble (sp) worked well, no one person out diva(d) anyone here it was truly a team, a family working together to make this drama come to life.
i remember seeing sarafina and when they interviewed the actress and asked her if it was a true story she said "right now this is going on ..right this minute!!"
and i have to imagine that right now..right this minute there are ten cold people in a loft in new york struggling with keeping each other alive while they try to pay the rent.

This was such an amazing scene, as were all of yours, (and who am i kidding? all of RENT is amazing) Angel is actually one role i dream to play one day, and yours is the only musical character that i cant quite keep up with on the high C at the end, so Bravo on your performance, i wish you the best of success in the future and hope you bring us more characters to love and enjoy! - Ryan

OMG!!! You did such an awesome job, not just in this scene, which has to be one of my favorites and i just absolutely loved the song, but you were such an outstanding actor!! You were so inspiring and touching to watch. I cried when you died!! Oh geesh. That had to be the worst part in the whole movie. I can't wait to see the movie again. Keep acting and singing. You're Awesome!! much much much love!!! *LeaAnn*

Wilson,
Your performance was truly amazing. You are so talented. You, along with the rest of the cast, brought so much joy and energy to the screen.
RENT is my favorite musical and now, my favorite movie! I am proud to be a Renthead!!!

So, I saw the movie last friday, after spending at least five sleepless nights because I was so excited. I have to say, I did not expect to fall in love with Angel. I knew going in what would happen, and I prepared myself for that eventuality going on. I was NOT going to like this character.
Somehow, without my wanting her to, she crept in. I didn't realize how much I loved her until that one scene during 'Without You', where Collins and Angel are riding in the subway cradled in each other's arms. Somehow, that made the movie for me. Every bit of suffering, every reason that connection is so important, every fear about loss and change was completely wrapped up in that one moment.
I was a little irritated because I cried for almost two hours, but hey.
I wanted to congratulate you guys, because your performances were truly amazing. It must have taken a lot of courage to inhabit those roles so deeply, with all the pain that comes with them. And thank you. We all live with something that we think makes us permanently unlovable, don't we, and Angel...Angel gives us back that possibility of acceptance and love.

Wilson you are incredible! You gave an amazing performance, and you made me fall in love with Angel all over again. And you did it all in heels and make-up, bravo! Thank you for being a part of this.

The movie was great! I can't wait till it comes out on DVD... It better be soon or I'll have to check in to RENT-head rehab!!

Dude/Mi jiho!
I know we spoke already but I was reading this during my lunch and thought I would join in the BILLIONS and BILLIONS of peeps who are your fans, and fans of the movie. You are awesome and hugely talented (although we knew that already, yes?) and both Ellen and I thought that you did an amazing job. Her neice just called us last night ("hello, Uncle Dave?") to let us know that she and her sister and her mother just saw the film (they said to tell you that it was packed in the theater in Michigan). I asked if they all cried and got a loud "YES"! Now she and her sister have added the soundtrack to their Christmas lists.
You rock pappi, but I've always thought that! Looking forward to hearing from you...

I saw the movie three times now and found it better everytime. It took a minute to get used to the cuts. I think the film is an eye opener for the older folks. My mother for one thought Angel was the best thing ever!! Which for her is a HUGE step. LOL Your character is awesome. Your a good looking man and a hot woman too! What was very very very cool about your performance was you forgot Angel was a man. You really did! Good job!

you were to great for the part wilson! this part was made for you! i cried so much when angel dies, because she builds up such a great person you feel like she was your friend, and this song is the start of that

Angel, you gave the trans community a positive image...and i thank you for that. Your played the character with bravery and dignity..no one could ask for more.

Wilson baby, you are the most cute, delicious, sweet, attractive.. ah! you're so wonderful, I almost can't take it! Your performance gave me the biggest smile and the most bitter tears. There will never be another Angel. You are beautiful!

Hello Winston;
Great job with the movie and CONGRATULATIONS to you and all of the cast and crew.
I hope that when you read this second posting you remember and realize who I am. Not to sound crazy by saying this. I'am your biggest FAN. If you don't know who I am, well here is a hint. Who in your life time has never called you Wilson? Who nicked named you Winston? And who did you give the most beautiful nick name of all to because she has never liked her name. So you helped her to love her name. She went from Julia to Jewels. And for that you have a friend in me for life.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY WINSTON!!!! I have never forgotten I have not been able to find you until now.
All my Love Winston;
Jewels

Brillant. I was raised in a mormon family, and was raised that homosexuality is wrong, and a one way ticket to hell. What I can't uderstand is how anyone can think like that when there tons of examples of loving decent people like Angel, (some of which are good friends of mine). Wilson you were awesome and I hope that people can learn from this example of fun love and comassion you have shown us. Totally kick asses

Wilson--
U did an absolutely brilliant job. Right from the first time i saw the play, angel was my favorite character, and the way u played her in the movie, made me love her even more. She has the best personality anyone could ever wish for, and u brought that out wonderfully. I love watching la vie boheme, and seeing you dance. As u can tell I saw the movie and the play, and while i loved the play, the movie touched me alot more. Thanks so much for doing an awesome job and putting all u had into it, it's beautiful, just like u.

You have amazing energy. I loved Today 4 U because it was just so much fun to watch. I bet it was so much fun to do too. You did a great job in the movie, and I was very impressed. I know you mentioned that you didn't do the kicking off of the wall, but did you do the rest of the song? Did you need to get help for the rhythm aspects of your part... perhaps before when you were Angel on Broadway?
Posted by: Joyce on 11/29/05 at 04:04 PM
By the way, I love the look on Jesse L. Martin's face when you sing "where he was moaning and groaning on the cold concrete"
haha,

I agree with Steph. Let us know!
And To Wilson:
Can we call you Wilson? Your beyond amazing. A new word needs to be invented to describe your portrayal of Angel. Words can not describe how much this show and movie meajn to me. I love you. Really. Not to scare you tho. Such a heartfelt performance and so amazing. And you had to get back into those boots to do it. I think I might have to make you and Jesse my favorites. But dont tell Idina, Taye, Adam, Anthony, Rosario, Traci or anyone else. Your my number one.
Posted by: Rebecca on 11/29/05 at 06:06 PM
omg!! i absolutely ,surely love this whole entire movie!! it's the best!! especially the 2day 4 u 2morrow 4 me!! luv it!!

Hey Wilson,
I loved the Today 4 U scene, it was fun, innovative and exciting. Your clothes looked really good on you too. You wear heels better than I do. Haha! I posted a comment somewhere else on the blog but I have no clue where it is, so if all this sounds familiar just bear with me please, I'll have something interesting at the end, I promise. I saw Rent last Saturday and it was phenomonal. After the movie was over I was speechless and so was my mom and she doesn't even like movies like Rent. (She loved it too.) This is a story that needs to be told, a story the world needs to hear. The cast in the movie was amazing, and you all deserve some serious recognition but, your character was my favorite. The film helped me to learn to appreciate people more. The film inspired me to become and AIDS activist, and it inspired me to love people more and care for people more, than I already do. Rent helped me to view life in a different way.Rent also inspired me even more to become an actress. If I can allow someone else to feel the way I felt after I saw that movie, I've done over and above my job. Because for me acting isn't just something to do, for me It's my gift to the world. Wilson you have an amazing gift and I hope and pray that you never, ever stop using it. You're dedicated to you craft and it shows. Your hard work and dedication paid off. It was a privilage and an honor to see Rent because I've been wanting to see the play since...forever. I wish I could've seen you on Broadway but the movie was still great! Now for the exciting part, I'm thinking about being in this variety show we're doing and I want to do "Today 4 U." I'm excited, I'm starting to work on the choreography now.
You're amazing and I love ya for it. I wish you all the best on your future endeavors and this is only the beginning. Can't wait til it comes out on DVD and can;t wait to see what you'll do next! Love ya!!
Love Always,
Tiffany C.
P.S. Rent is not just a movie- it's an experience.

Angel-
You are so inspirational!

You absolutely KICK BUTT in that scene. It's hilarous and so utterly wonderful, lmao. =P Today 4 U is so great - I love it when Collins opens the door and BAM, there you are, doing your thing...sooo great. The way you played Angel was just incredible, I can't even describe it - when "you" died, it was the most heartbreaking thing I've ever seen. Basically, you rock.
Much love,
~Alex

Dear Wilson,
First of all this song was great! Such spunk! I love what a good time it looks like everybody is having :-) Maaaan, you and Jesse are way too freakin cute together but I'll stop there because I could go on forever.
On a more serious note, I just cannot thank you enough for portraying Angel. I can't think of any words for how much it means to me. THANK YOU. For her love and her inner (and outer) beauty. It is NO small feat to have people who would normally be very wary of, and uncomfortable around GLBT people come out of that movie totally in LOVE with Angel. That’s HUGE.
I hope you take great pride and joy in the fact that people across America, old, young, liberal and conservative people, want to give you a very BIG HUG. I know I do :-) lol
Thanks a million
NO DAY BUT TODAY
