Hey! First to post on this, go me! I agree with Adam, to a point, on the soundtrack. The first is absolutely singing over acting, where as you can tell on this soundtrack that there is more thought in the subtext (can you tell I'm in a singer/actor class right now??). I do, however, miss Joanne's line in the song rent after the "narration crackles and pops with incendiary wit"... I just like the theatre person joke! Can't wait for the movie and love the soundtrack, which will have to get me by until it's released in boring old Wisconsin!! Love you all!

You guys are the absolute best! I love the fact that us fans are so appreciated and acknowledged so warmly. That's a big reason why I'm such a dedicated fan!! Not only are you all so incredibly talented and putting your hearts into something we all love, but you're always doing so much for us fans. I admire everything you guys do.

I am (impatiently) awaiting the 23rd of next month and this blog is such a great outlet to keep up to date with everything. It means so much that the whole cast and crew has done all of this and to the extent they have taken it.

Yes, Anthony, I did get my limited edition cover (and a Mark one at that, after some patience and searching). Wow! What a great video blog. I can't wait to see the cover of the magazine. I'll definitely have to get them all. It's great to know the CD I already have is limited edition, too. Very cool.

Adam, thank you for commenting on the OBC recording and the new one. I often feel that I'm the ONLY one out there who thinks that the new recording has more life. Do I miss some of the parts that were on the first recording that aren't on this one? Sure. Will I have to make a complete recording (3 CD's surely) that include everything from both? Definitely!

But, I'll include the new versions of One Song Glory, Light My Candle, Another Day, etc., since I think they are better.

I always thought that the OBC was very good, but clearly not your best (having seen you, Idina, and Anthony in other rolls on Broadway & tour) work. But, I think that's because the cast albums are normally made very early in the run of a show and you had a whole year to grow with all of your characters and learn them better. Now, I think with all that time you've really improved the characters. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. On different boards, people are tearing the new recording to shreds. I'm glad you like it, too. :-)

Thank you for your honesty! I can't wait to see the movie. Less than a month left... Less than 29 days. Totally counting! Then, I'll be counting down to the DVD release where I can own my favorite Broadway musical! So wonderful!

You guys are all phenomenal, I have been a Rent junkie since way back when and have seen the play more times than I would like to think. The best part about going each time is taking someone different with me and watching them live the moments like I do every time. I cannot wait to see the film, all I can say it is way overdue!

Special shout out to Jesse L--- when you sing I'll Cover You, even if it's the 500th time I have heard it, I STILL get goosebumps and it STILL makes me cry. Your voice is like velvet, it is just that smoothe. I wanted you to come and sing to me at my latest birthday party but my husband failed me!! haha

Wow what a rush it is to see everything coming together. I remember way back to praying the original Broadway cast would be in this movie, way back when Spike Lee was going to direct. Now Chris has done an amazing job (according to you guys) and the movie is less than a month away. That was wicked cool! I totally was NOT expecting that today! That was one fantabulous blog! Now that I think about it, there are only like...28 DAYS LEFT until this movie comes out. Oh, I love you all so much, RENT just completely changed my life. I actually was going to give up on theater after high school, but RENT motivated me to keep working with it, and I'm now a high school senior auditioning for musical theater programs at various collages. I just wanted to say how much having RENT in my life has meant to me, and how I feel like I've grown up with the cast. Thank you so much for all agreeing to do a movie. I wrote a-no kidding-800 word preview for the RENT movie for my NC high school newspaper, and I'm just working on trying to get as many people to see it as I can. Like I always say,thank you for letting all of us little underling fans be a part of this (cheesy phrasing coming up) journey that you've taken, and we'll certainly be there on the 23rd to support you.

i have nothing but absolute love for RENT and for the entire cast. The passion they exude in their work and belief in the material really means a lot.

Last week we found out that a classmate of ours had passed away in a tragic car accident. I've been listening to the soundtrack non-stop ever since and I can't tell you how much its helped to get through this difficult time. Although we were not as close to her, 18 years is really too young to be gone. We played Seasons of Love at her prayer service and find solice that she lived every day as though it was her last. Thank you, Jonathan Larson! Rest in Peace Abby.

So basically, my family is obsessed with Rent, like i could go on and on but i'd like to get straight to the point. we are renting out a theater for our friends to come and watch. We're just paying for everybody and its free for them...here's the catch: Its a fundraiser. Since Rent is on brodway and has to do with aids we are having people give donations to brodway cares equity for aids. I recently thought it'd be an excellent idea to have a raffle and the winner would receive an autographed something or other from a cast member or all the caste or something. And I knew this before I read the blog today. I make it a point to try to remember people's birthdays. Makes them feel happy when someone says happy birthday. *gestures to all of the well wishers* and judging by the amount you have, you two will be very happy.

Can anyone tell us if Nov 23rd is the definitive release date or if there will be an earlier release date for Los Angeles and New York?

The VH1 full-length video of "Out Tonight" is AMAZING. The link has been passing through the RENT online communities and the buzz around it has been enormous. I though there was no possible way my expecations could be met for this film, but if the "Out Tonight" video is any indication this film will far exceed all expectation.

These blogs have given us all such a wonderful insight into the film and the people behind it. I feel like I personally know the cast at times, and that invests the fans so much deeper into this project.

Adam: First off, happy birthday! I noticed that you weren't on IMDb's top four birthdays for today, and and then realized that you couldn't have been, because you don't have a picture showing on your filmography page. Pssh.

Regarding the soundtrack: at first I was really not a fan of the movie soundtrack, because the OBCR was the original, darn it, and it wasn't the same. But I listened to it more and it really grew on me. I lent it to a friend and am going crazy without it. I miss some of the songs from the OBCR, but overall, yeah, I do think this is better. I knew that some of you weren't happy with it 10 years ago, and for me, the fact that you're happy with this one makes it better than the first. And now I'm babbling.

But I must say that Your Eyes is ten times better than the original.

Happy birthday again, and I hope you're spending the day with your family, enjoying it.

First of all, I loved this blog! I will definitley be picking up all the different covers of the magazine. Was it the entire cast there or just your four? Either way - I know it's gonna be hot!!

Second, the VH1 music video for "Out Tonight" is AMAZING!!!! Rosario looks FABULOUS during the entire Cat Scratch Club Scene and all of the other scenes shown look awesome! I love Chris Columbus' vision on having Mimi dance on the fire escape but then come through the window. That's just way cool in my book!

So excited for the movie! I'll be there for the first showing, most definitely. And probably about 28539853902 showings after that too. Hahaha!

I just want to say it's really awesome how new video blogs and answers are being posted every monday and wednesday (I check regularly haha) and I can't wait for the movie! I have a feeling it's going to be phenomenal and I'm bubbling with excitement over it even though November 23rd is about a month away.

Oh and Adam, I absolutely agree with you about the cast CD...compared to the Movie soundtrack it's very bland. Jesse, yes! That's all I really can say, you thank us every time but really I still think we should be thanking you for being amazing! Anthony...I actually love how you've reinvented the sound of Mark, very hardcore. And Idina, you are just beautiful, my friends and I loved you in Wicked...and well I love your independence as Maureen, fabulous.

Finally, question for Adam, I read that you learned to act when you were cast as Roger, what helped you decide to continue doing musical theatre? (And by the way, loved you in Aida). Oh and Jesse, I read that you were reluctant to audition for Rent because it was a muscial and you were mainly an actor...what was your final push to the audition?

RENT is so amazing. I love the soundtrack, though, I do agree with Adam that it's just not the same as the Original. But what're you gonna do, right? You guys are so amazing, and I've made it my life's goal to go to a production you guys are in just to see each one of you, even if it's not RENT! I’m so sad that I am in Korea right now~~ I had been living in the city for 3 years and I came back to Korea last month. I saw you guys performing in Bryant Park last summer and it was one of the most wonderful experiences in New York, even though I was almost burnt by the sun. I got there around 9 am since my apartment was just five blocks away from the park and I wanted to get a great spot. I was the in the first row~~ Ever since I left for Korea, I’ve been catching up through the blog and BWW site. The movie will release in next April in Korea according to the rent website. The minute I saw the releasing schedule, I almost cried~~ I hope it will be released sooner.

Every time you update us I think to myself how special RENT is. I don't think there has ever been a movie where the actors and director has ever updated its fans for start to finish. Again, The movie is inching closer and closer and we are all out advertising for it! I love you guys and i hope you like the movie cut when you see it for the firs ttime. I know I am going to love every minute of it!

I do enjoy the soundtrack. I like the differences in sound and melody... "Goodbye Love" especially, I adore the transition so that Mark is really more part of the action.

As for the soundtrack, I'm glad you guys got a second chance to make it sound the way you at least wanted it to sound in the first place. I heard the new version of "One Song Glory"...Adam, you know how to prick a girl's heartstrings; it made me cry, which isn't as easy as it used to be. You rock!

Anthony: Wow. You guys are getting pretty good publicity, aren't cha? Well, it fits. You guys are awesome. As for the little announcement on how soon it is, very funny and of course we're paying attention! Why wouldn't we? And thanks for telling us that the current soundtrack is limited edition. My Dad and I will probably get it today. Now I just need to choose which cover. It won't be easy, because I love all eight of you, but I guess I'll just have to. Ah well. Also, why are you considering that the movie isn't even out yet that you're so high on the I-tunes chart? Considering how great the music is, of course it's that high if not higher! :D Yay! Broadway cares is still loved. I'm going to start some sort of fund to it, among other things, because it's an excellent cause. Thanks for helping support it.

The uncanny thing is that if you stuck my friends and I on a movie set, if these blogs are any indication, which are in my opinion, we'd act just like you guys. Funny, isn't it. Anyway, I saw the Regis and Kelly thing. It was great and led me to watching an excellent movie. (Tell Anthony thanks for telling us. Adventures in Babysitting is awesome! :D) It's great the album "dropped"! (My new favorite word, ha!) I really want to see your new play! I hope I can and I'm sure I'll like it. Awww, all the things we're saying are only nice, because there's really nothing else we can say since you're awesome, but hey, if they make you happy and makes you think we're awesome, I won't complain. I was thinking while reading everyone's blogs how truly amazing Rent is (of course I knew how amazing it was) but I thought about it on a new level. If something as regular as a movie can bring so many people together and form like a community of everyone suppoting you guys, and how important this is to all of us it has to make such an impact, which Rent does. I think everyone has had Rent change soemthing for them, like mabey it changed thier favourite song, or the colour of thier bedrooms, or thier dreams or the way they treat other people or their whole outlook on life. I think each person and many to come after the movie are being affected by you and everyone's performance. Rent is jsut such a big deal to so many people, like I know when I watched the clips fo Take me or Leave amd and one song glory I cried because it is just so overwhelming. So I just wanted to say thank you Idina and everyone for making a difference to so many poeple, I only wish one day I can be lucky enough to get a peice that will touch people's lives. I admire and think you are amazing Idina.

well.. wow! thanks 4 the post! ive been watching all the clips and a full vesion of out tonight has benn leaked(?) out on the internet and ya..and that makes me cry! not in a bad way mind you not! i mean its soo moving, even the clips.. and when i saw the regis and "kathy lee" (priceless) interview on tv i was like crying sooooo much! and my mom thought i was crazy. but im kinda scareed of peoples reactions 'cuz there was this girl at school who saw my shirt and she was like " oh my god! where did you get that! i love that sgirt" soo.. i asked her if she just liked it because she saw the trailer 4 the movie and she said yes, and then i said do you know its a musical? and she was like" you mean the made the movie into a musical?" i was kind of upset because she doesnt get the messege that jonathan put into rent's story, and i feel sad...
ya... sorry to dump my feeling onto you on such a good time of your life, its just i cant relte to anyone right now. OH one of my friends saw your new show and she loved it! and i send my congrats! so.. ya... well, good luck and god's blessings. i will pray for you and the whole cast and send you lots of love!

And after all, you all are the ones who Mr. Larson shared his vision with, creating it on stage with so much passion and energy. Hey Guys...number 1 before is say anything further..Idina, your hair looks amazing..im officially jealous...oh and I got to see your show on November 5th..gotta support you, you deserve it..you all do..Im so happy that this movie is really coming out, and it is coming sooner than I could ever hope...I remeber thinking back quite a few months ago on how pissed I was that i had to wait so long and then bang, the movie is here...I went on a scavenger hunt to get the limited edition soundtrack, and I personally wanted the Idina cover, well I want them all but that's a load of money, you do know that Barne's & Noble is selling it for like 35 bucks..and Best buy I got it for 30..bargain shopping people haha...well needless to say, Idina is sold out everywhere...::cries:: but I did get the last one there wich was Rosario..I have it proudly displayed in my living room, where my mother keeps movi moving it to my bedroom, but I just put it back...Love you guys!!

I think that I just posted a comment like 2 hours ago on here, but ce la vie. Nope, I see my comment above it was at 5:28, 4 and half hours ago and i am back again after being on the BCEFA website.
Idina~~ you are so gorgeous. Your voice continues to blow me away. It is my dream to one day be able to work with you [whether I am a dresser for a show that you are doing or actually being able to perform] or just meeting you would be beyond my imagination. I am so estatic, RENT comes out the day before my birthday and therefore it will be one of my best birthdays ever. Thanksgiving time birthdays usually aren't much fun [everyone is out of town] but this year is going to be Rockin'. Maureen seems as off the wall yet still lovable as ever!!
Jesse, I watch Law and Order everyday in between class in the hopes of seeing you on it. What was it like working with Jerry Orbach? I almost always cry when i hear "I'll Cover You(Reprise)" I liked your little cameo in Chris' last post. It was cute. I love your voice and the richness of it so much.
There are too many things wonderful things for someone to say about RENT and all of your guys' endless talent. Thanks for singing your hearts out to numerous playbacks and bring RENT to people everywhere. Even my very concervative mother wants to see RENT; she gave up her ticket in NY to my sister-in-law when she took me in June. I am anxiously awaiting award season and hoping people recognize how amazing this truely is.

Adam, I totally agree. Well, not totally. I love the OBC recording, partly I guess just because it is the OBC and there's nothing like that first time, but the new one is absolutely AMAZING and it IS much better. The sound and the vocals and the feel are a lot richer and more "rock-ish", and every single song thrills me to my toes.
Anthony...yep! Got my recording on amazon (which made my life), and they sent me the Collins cover which made me very very happy and I've got it up on my wall =)I didn't know that about the limited release, thanks for warning us *crosses fingers and toes and eyes just for good measure*

Okay, so, I was too young to have my mom fly us out to NYC when the show first premiered, but I am a huge fan of this show. I was finally able to see it for the first time last year. I didn't think it was possible to love a show more, but I definitely do now. I was a bit apprehensive when I heard it was being made into a movie, but once I found out most of the original cast were reprising (is that the right word?) their roles, I became super excited and am growing more exciting as the release date draws closer!! I'm a huge fan of all of yours and can't wait to see this movie! *mwah* Good luck to you all!!

I am truly looking forward to seeing the magic of the original cast on the silver screen. I can say it comes at a good time. This show has helped me through a lot and especially now, with the 1 yr anniversary of my cousin's passing (he was in a car accident and was in a coma and PVS for 10 months, he was 27 yrs old) I need it more than ever. Thank you to you all and to Jonathan for giving us all the music, love, magic and strength brought out through RENT.

When I was younger, I knew that the OBC included Idina Menzel, but I never realized that it was her that made me fall in love with the character of Maureen. I have the OBC soundtrack and I've seen pictures of her singing it, but after I saw the clip and the trailer and Wicked, I've totally realized that this gurl is awesome, has amazing talent and is insanely and truly fabulous. To the cast and crew...and Larson family.

I recall seeing the movie trailer over the summer...and thought the film was due in September...But now I see it's opening on my birthday! I’m almost as excited as my NY trip with my partner to see Rent during it’s opening in May of 1996.

So…in a true celebration of life…I’m taking the day off! My partner and I will revel in the excitement of the movie’s opening in Boston…and what we hope will be a continuation of the “spirit and message of hope” that the musical delivered. Yes, the movie opening on my birthday is special for me. But, since my partner was struck with cancer in July, the message of Rent is even more meaningful to us. We really are living in the “no day but today” philosophy, and we’re thankful that we have the opportunity. Seeing this movie will be a boost of positive energy we really need.

Thank goodness Jonathan went on this journey and created the musical.
