Argh! It killed me that I had to pick just ONE collectors' edition cardboard sleeve. I picked the Collins cover, but don't think I wasn't tempted by all the others.

FINALLY! I was waiting for them to post about it. It came out yesterday and it's EXCELLENT. I got the Mark cover which, suprisingly, was very hard to find.

i thought this would help alleviate my anticipation, but its only made it worse!!! i need to see it NOW!!!

Oh Wow! I Love this CD!! It has such a powerful rock feel to it!!!

It's amazing. I mean, I have my 'Eh?' moments, but everyone will.

I have to say that I had my concerns about the CD when I first heard the clips. I was SO used to the OBC recording that I didn't know if I could adjust.

After one time listening to the CD straight through, all my fears were put to rest.

It sounds beautiful. Anthony's performance is especially intense - I LOVE the sound to the new "Rent" - it just took me a couple of listens to get used to the minor lyric changes.

Everyone has matured so much... especially as actors. Idina's "Over the Moon" is so sarcastic and angry that I found myself laughing at my desk at work - it's funnier because she's SO serious about it.

Tracie and Rosario are both WONDERFUL replacements, I don't think I could have asked for anything better.

And THANK YOU for recording "Love Heals" - the harmonies are beautiful and I love hearing how everyone's voices blend together.

OMG The soundtrack is amazing!!!!! You all sound sooo wonderfull and Love Heals is a wonderfull edition to the already wonderfull list of songs!!!! I can't wait until November 23!!!

Hello Fellow RENTheads!

I ran to Best Buy afterwork yesterday and made them search the back for over a half hour for this CD! They had it in their computer system but they hadn't put them out for display yet. I got the CD with Idina on the cover of course!
I love the music! You can definetly hear the changes and even though they took out a few lines us die-hard RENTheads will still sing them anyways. "Maureen I'm not a theater person....Could never be a theater person!" I have to admit I was skeptical of Rosario's singing ability, but I really like what she's done with her character. "What happen to Benny?..." Has anyone else noticed how Taye is singing a little higher on this recording? He sounds a lot more stuck up, but it works for his character.
And that bonus song.....OH MY GOD..... I can't believe that it hasn't been done before this! They should have released this song on i-tunes instead of Season's of love! I love it!
Thank you again for keeping up the Blog and Thank you Anthony for taking the time to answer our questions. You really are a RENTheads best friend. Everyone is amazing and now I REALLY can't wait for the movie. Thank God I live in San Diego so I won't freeze too bad camping out the night before!

I got mine yesterday. I got the Maureen cover. At the store i went to they had three Maureen's and one Mark. And i was wondering if they sent the same amount of each cover to every store

So, I went all over town yesterday, and I couldn't find it :-( So my goal for this weekend is to find it if not sooner!

Ok, so I'm all excited that the movie sound track is coming out. Great, I'll just go into the HMV and it'll be up front displayed somewhere... IF ONLY. GRRRR. Instead of some decent display for this cd that will be playing for at least a few weeks, it just got a simple place in with the sound tracks. PATHETIC. lol Anyway, my griping aside I figured I'd review this cd to some degree.

I knew going in, many if not all tracks would have to be reworked and I'd have to get used to them. So yeah, that happened. There are some songs that I loved from the original that I find merely adequate here- but I'm fairly certain those toned down qualities will work for the movie, so I shall reserve judgement. There was one song from the original that was one of if not my favourite and that was "What you own". LOVED it. The intensity and emotion are there. The guys sound FANTASTIC! Easily my favourite track from this cd. As for the rest of the mentionables... I instantly LOVED the reworked "RENT" with the faster tempo and much more rock sound you guys gave it, it's one hell of a way to open the movie.

La Vie Boheme is one of those songs that while I like it a lot... it'll have to grow on me. It's not as intense, but still well song with the right amount of attitude to keep any RENT fan grinning as I was for most of this thing. A really big amazing surprise for me was "Take me or leave me". Tracy REALLY holds her own with Idina. This song is one of my most anticipated songs, I can't wait to see on the big screen.

As far as I'm concerned the most important song in RENT is Finale B. If you mess it up, the movie is simply OK. If you suceed,which this version does... the emotions swell to a head and you leave the theatre feeling invigorated having seen something somemthing remarkable. I'm fairly certain this will be a movie I'll be seeing at least 2 or 3 times. Oh, oh... can't forget to mention Rosario who won me over. I'd never seen her in a movie before I will see this, but I think it's safe to say I'll be a fan after this as she really throws herself into it. Anyway, enough of my rant. I've been looking forward to this for SOOOO long and harassing everyone I know about the movie for almost as long, that it's a relief that I think this movie will NOT disappoint. ;) THANK YOU FOR NOT MESSING THIS UP! q8^)~

I went to three places to get it yesterday, and FIANLLY found it! Mind you, I was on crutches because I'm having a bit of trouble with my back. Well, all I have to say is- OH WOW HOLY AWESOMENESS!! I almost ran off the road on the way home from the store, I was so excited! lol. Good job, cast! I am truly amazed. Rosario, you have a b-e-a-u-tiful voice and so do you, Tracy. As for the OBC cast memebers- Even better than last time. I <3 U all!!

Jesse, I got your cover! (Not that I had many to choose from) and I just have to say that you're absolutely heartbreaking in the I'll Cover You reprise. That scene is going to bring me to tears in the theater, I can already tell.

Anthony, is it truly possible that you've gotten so much better over these past 10 years? I thought you were perfect on the OBCR but you really amped it up for this new recording. Incredible.

This CD is amazing. I really like some of the changes in the music. The only thing I'm disappointed with is Today 4 U. I listened to both CDs 6 times yesterday but I only listened to that song once. Its nothing against Wilson, but I don't like the changes in music at all. Everybody sounds amazing. The Tango:Maureen is even better than it was on the original recording. I was so upset when I found out I had to pick one cover (I went with Mark because I want to be Mark someday, which probably won't happen, bt everyone has dreams) and i was very happy that the actual case had everyone on it. Can't wait until November

I got the CD today and I'm SOOO happy. The new song, Love Heals, is the most amazing thing. I got the Roger cover, which is also my computer background!

i went to two local record stores yesterday, and neither of them had it in... so i came home bummed out, however I realized when i got home that I could buy it via iTunes for only $16.99 and I'm glad that i did. I hadn't realized that it came with a .PDF that has everything that came inside the CD pamphlet, it's awesome. Everything is in good quality when printed out, however it gives your printer quite the workout, because there's 24 pages, and they are all in full color and take up the full size of the paper... and i just burned the music to CD-R's

so yah, iTunes is an awesome way to go if you want to save a few bucks, plus for those of you who are ipod users like myself, if you have a color ipod, it shows the CD picture when you play it, it's awesome.

im a huge RENT fan, and have been for years, and i just have to say that this rox. My favorite song has always been the "I'll Cover You' reprise, and the new version, even though different, is just as amazing and powerful as the old one. Great CD!

thank you, thank you, thank you for recording love heals! i first heard that song some 4 years ago and loved it instantly. it's still my favorite larson song to date. i don't have the cd yet, but i know i'll love it for sure. the dilemma lies in which cover to pick, which of course depends on which ones are available all the way out here. can't wait for november....

You know I called up Borders to ask if they would have it (I called the 26th...) and they told me they would have it on September 27th! So I go to Borders yesterday, all happy and excited for this soundtrack, and they tell me it's still on its way.

It made me angry.

But, I am calling them everyday to be sure that when they get it in I am at that store so I can get it. YAY! I don't think I've ever really been any more excited for any movie in my life...ever.

I got mine off iTunes, as soon as I got up yesterday. I would like to say that I think this is so amazingly INCREDIBLE that I actually started crying again. The songs aren't just songs this time around, they're actually full of emotion and heart (not that theyw eren't before, but they're just amazing this time around). My only problem was with Over The moon, but ho well...Rosario, I love you SO MUCH. You are AMAZING. I think the changes really made it better, at least for screen, and I just love EVERYTHING. Less than 2 months to go!

I'm so glad to be able to listen to this so far in advance. I have always been a little scared because nothing can ever replace live theatre (being a theatre professional I have to think that haha) but it is such a good recording. yes there are parts i'm sad about but there are other parts that are just amazing. its different enough that its hard to compaire the two.

there are some moments that are just amazing and the cast has grown so much and traci and rosario fit in well.

it was for sure worth my troubles with best buy telling me they didnt have it when they did and didnt know it...but hey at least i got first pick at my cover because they hadnt started selling them! and yes i got the Mark one!

Oh a few more things LOL ,

Tracie...not Tracy. I spelled it wrong. LOVES YOU , you have the voice I always wanted to hear on that song.

after spending about 20 minutes (im not even kidding) deciding which cover (they were out of mimi) i decided on mark (maureen and angel were only available at a store that had high prices...). i was late to a rehearsal cuz of it. luckily they were rentheads so they excused it. i have listened to it 1000+ times. its amazing. Rosario and Tracie- if you read this... i was looking forward to finding fault with you. Youre not daphne and fredi and i LOVE them, especially but Daphne... but... i couldnt find a single fault. Take Me or Leave Me is phen-effin-nomenal. And Rosario-- you made me cry with Without You and GOodbye Love. You guys both bring so much to the show.... and the rest of the cast-- if possible you guys have made this score even better. Jesse L. Martin is a GENIUS. Santa Fe and I'll Cover You have never been better.

I was a little confused on some of the changes (Today 4 U: Christmas Day instead of Eve; cutting La Vie Boheme down; cutting out the end of You'll See.. etc.) but hey, it works.

Since yesterday someone gave me the angel copy. I now have 2 copies... only 6 more to go.

The soundtrack is incredible!!! Haven't stopped listening to it yet with my fiancee. We got the Maureen cover because we only had Joanne and Maureen to choose from but at least we got it and that's all that matters. So how long till Thanksgiving for this spectacular???

Adam: You sound really different, Roger seems edgier, I love it, it's fun to have those subtle changes since I have memorized the original soundtrack so well, but did you mean to do that or is it just how it came out?

OMG!!! I AM SOOO HAPPY!!! I AM GOING TO BUY IT RIGHT NOW!! SEE YOU AT THE MALL!!!

I was so ticked off last night. I split right after my first jazz class to check BOTH wal-mart and target for the soundtrack before my second jazz class. Neither had it out. After I read some of the comments above, I realize I should've asked if it was in the back. I'll do that tomorrow. My mom said that since I bought the OBC Soundtrack this summer after I finally got to see Rent for the first time, she'd buy the movie soundtrack! On the other hand, my dad was asked why I needed another copy!

I just want the whole cast to know that I'll definitely go see the movie the first day. Who knows, I may need to see it twice! 56 days, if I counted right, my brain's mushy from studying Chemistry and Pre-Cal. Also, this is my first time I've commented so I want to say that the performance on the Today show was thrilling! I started crying when I saw it was on, because I didn't know it would be on. Anthony and Adam, What You Own is one of my favorite songs ever! It definitely made my morning that day because I had to clean the house and my mom let me take a break! Words can't express the way Rent makes me feel!

The new versions give me goosebumps just like the old ones! I LOVE it. I also was skeptical about Rosario's voice. She sounds different but very good. I have been listening over and over. I went to Best Buy to get it on the release date and it took them awhile to find it. They actually had ALL the covers except maybe Mimi. I'm not sure if I saw that one. I got the Collins cover though. I love Law and Order!!

i love this album!!! all of the actors have a great singing voice, especially rosario dawson and tracie thoms. i got the album with MIMI because rosario dawson looks really beautiful on one of the covers of the album, but i was trying to resist my temptation in buying all of the covers.

This recording blew me away. I LOVE the new sound, it's so much more intense. Everyone sounds *amazing*!!! The songs are taking turns getting stuck in my head, but as of right now Tango:Maureen is completely winning, the new version is spectacular! Picked up Tracie's cover, by the way.

I LOVE the new soundtrack! My fiance' and I bought the Maureen cover last night and listened to it straight through. I love 'Out Tonight' and 'Another Day', as well as 'I'll Cover You' and of course, LOVE HEALS! Such an amazing amazing song. I can't wait for the movie!

My sister and I got it yesterday! so glad it came all the way to Quebec and that the movie is too! Viva la vie bohème!

It took SIX stores to find a Maureen o-card, my early favorite since 1998. I ran into a lot of other Rentheads who were also looking for their selected cover. I'm very happy with the rock-ish vive to the instrumentals.

My friend has it and graciously allowed me to listen to it today and it's amazinggggggggg. I'm planning on buying the Tracie cover (Joanne has always been my favorite closely followed by Angel) and Tracie just blows me away. And she's so adorable! :P

I really hope November gets here soon.

I LOVE it. I went out to the bank to cash my check yesterday and drove straight to Tower Records to buy the cd. I got to the soundtrack section, which happens to be a bit dimly lit. I was flipping through the soundtracks. "Okay, we have Roger, Mimi, Benny, Joanne... WHERES MARK!?!?! sierjgrkldfjgkldfngdi!"

So then I ran and got someone who worked there and was trying to get them to go in back for a Mark cover. And he brought me back to the shelf and pointed to the shelves below the browsing thingo, where there were at least ten Marks. And I felt stupid.

I absolutely love it- especially La Vie Boheme, love the added music, love how One Song Glory picks back up near the end, how Adam made Roger even more clueless sounding in Light My Candle, and just... everything! *squee*

I got it today ... At like, nine am. Before school. My mom told me yesterday that she wouldn't drive me to go get it, and I'd have to walk there after school today. But, no, she decided to drive me. I've been coddling the CD all day. Haha.

YES I got my Idina one! I really wanted the one with all of them so I didn't have to choose but they were sold out so I went with Idina, I was standing for an hour trying to choose hehe

This cd is incredible! i was stupid and i thought the movie came out september 23rd... a combination of rhyming months and over-excitement i guess... but i was easily satiated with the cd b/c it's WONDERFUL!!

OMG!! Now I have to WAIT to get it! (There are disadvantages to being broke. :( This is definatly one of them.) I can't wait to get it. I'm going to have to specifically ask for the Maureen (first choice! You rock, Idina!!!) or Mark (Very close second, Anthony. You still rock in "La Vie Boheme!"). I can't wait to hear "Love Heals", I especially can't wait to hear the new version of "Over the Moon" which I absolutely fell in love with Idina and her performance at first listen. I haven't had a chance to see it live on Broadway, I do own the 2 disk Broadway album plus the broadway highlights album (my awesome boyfriend got me the 2-disk set that I've almost worn out). Now I really can't wait to see the movie.

Trying to pick out what CD I wanted was the hardest descion of my life. I wanted them all. The soundtrack is so good. I love I'll Cover You reprise. The intro to the song is absolutly beautiful. Once Jesse started to sing I started to cry. It's incredible, I can't wait for the movie. Everyone sounds amazing. I can't wait for the movie. Only 55 more days.

I am so impressed by everyone on the soundtrack. It was so weird to put disc one in and it start with Seasons of Love. I'll kind of miss hearing "December 24 9pm", but overall I was very happy with the soundtrack. I am now very interested to see how the songs will fit into the context of the movie.

I drove to 3 different Best Buys to find my Mark cover. It wasn't hard for me to pick a cover it was just hard to find Mark. And on my way home from Best Buy I rocked so hard in the car to the version of "Rent". I love it!!!!

P.s Anthony, thank you for being so commited to your fans. You Rock!! You sound amazing on the soundtrack.

Thank you so much for putting "Love Heals" on the soundtrack. It is so beautiful, and it's like a personal gift from Jonathan to his fans.

Also, I absolutely love the soundtrack with both its similarities and differences to the Original Broadway Cast recording. I'm so glad it's finally here!

so i got my cd with roger on it and as many i was praying please please be wonderful and im listening to it right now im on ill cover you i have to say right as one song glory started im liek please please be wonderful .. and u can hear the pain in his voice liek adam was born to sing it and the yell ahh wodnerful Rosario and Tracie unbeleiavable rosario i was thinking her singing i cant picture but she has a beautiful voice as does tracie everyone else was amazing also lmao haah now over the moon ahh shes idena is awesome lol omg ahh i cant wait to hear the rest cast of rent once again u touch my soul my dream is to one day be in this musical and maybe touch someone as you actors has touched me this musical changed my life .... ic ant wait for the movie .. i kno it will be amazing from this cd amazing job !!!!

AHHHH this is the most amazing cd ever created!!!!! Seriously every single one of the cast members is absolutely positively incredible!!! Oh man why must you guys make it even harder to wate until nuvemer 23!!??? lol I'm having so much trouble as it is now I'll never be able to stand it!!

I had to call a bunch of different places to find someone who actually had them, and I ended up getting it from Strawberries. They only had the Collins and Mimi covers, so I picked Collins. :D

I haven't been able to get the cd yet and that is terribly depressing. I have listened to all the clips on iTunes and I can't wait to hear the whole songs. November 11 seems so far away yet so close I can almost TOUCH it.

I tried 3 music stores before coming home to cry and call other stores and praise the lord, I found it at Virgin Records! Utah is a bit(a lot) slow. I got the Roger cover because I adore Adam.

Love Heals blew me away as did the new Tango Maureen and Take Me Or Leave Me. I personally liked Today 4 You and the scene is going to be awesome. Tracie is absolutely phenomenal, she shines in every song she's in and I can't believe she isn't a household name. Everyone is wonderful but the changes do take some getting used to.

Thanks to the cast for all their energy and devotion to RENT and us RENT-heads.

"Love Heals" is AWESOME!! I see an Oscar and Grammy buzz around this CD... I hope so!! IT'S AWESOME!! I was so used to the OBC Recording, but this one is OVER THE TOP!! I totally loved it!! I know the songs, so I wanna see the movie NOW!! You shouldn't have released the soundtrack yet... Now we're DYING to see the movie!!! All this wait is a torture... But we have the soundtrack to listen to it over and over and over and over and over and over.... you got the idea...

Thank you, Larson family, Chris Columbus and all of you in the RENT cast for giving me a fast appoaching opportunity to relieve my 3 Broadway experiences (July 2000, with Norbert Leo Butz standing in for Manley Pope; July 2004, with Scary Spice as Mimi and Jai Rodriguez as a FAB-U-LOUS Angel; and May 2005, second time with Matt Caplan as Mark) hopefully in a movie theater near me, and then right here in my own living room!
I wish I could jump on a plane and join the New Yorkers in the CRAZY RENT fest around Thanksgiving... Oh well, I'll just have to be patient...

While flying to Spain to be with my fiancé for my birthday (oh and how nice of y'all to release the CD the day before my birthday?), I listened to it twice on my ipod.

Being a girl who had the OBC in her paws on midnight the day it came out, I really was excited to hear this new soundtrack.

I really, really love 'I'll Cover You (reprise)' ... Jesse put every ounce of his heart and soul into that song and it made me weep when I listened to it... and I'm not really the type of person to weep at RECORDINGS. Actually, Jesse totally *made* this recording for me. Jesse is teh_sex with his voice.

It is interesting to hear how voices change in 9 years... like Anthony, I'm so impressed by the change in his voice... I really, really loved his voice on the OBC and live (really, Ant is Mark for me and I've never enjoyed another actor's Mark as much as I love his) but his voice now... totally different and yet there is still a bit of that raw quality to it that makes his voice so unique.

As far as soundtracks go, it isn't bad. I'm not a gushy 19 year old anymore (I'm a jaded and bitter 28 year old now.. ha!) who thinks everything RENT is the best thing since sliced bread. I think I need to see the movie before I fully pass judgement upon the soundtrack. I'm interested to see how the songs flow with the dialogue in the film....

Tracie, I really hope you read this!

I bought the CD yesterday with my dad. I was planning on getting either your cover or Anthony's cover. I coudn't find your cover! I was really upset about that, because I really think you are..wow. Just from the trailer.

I put on Take Me or Leave Me. Idina, you sounded SO beautiful. I love how your voice has changed over the years.

When it got to Tracie's part, and you started singing, I was blown away to the max. I pretty much hitting the car's seat more than I could handle. I really, really, really love the CD. Tracie and Rosario were better choices than I even thought! Rosario, I've been rocking out to your Out Tonight for HOURS!

And to the rest of the cast, thank you so much for all of your blogs and posts and everything. All of the attention you have gave us is just..too amazing. It makes us even more excited.

I bought this cd on iTunes, complete with ALL the covers in the digital booklet. I would not call myself a RENThead, but do love everything RENT. I have my OBC cd scratched all to death, so was looking for a great excuse to replace it. I have to say, this cd is AMAZING!!! I listened to it again before going to sleep last night, and that was a BIG mistake...I kept waking up, singing!! I agree, Jesse on the I'll cover you reprise is unbelievable. I recommend this CD to anyone and everyone!! GREAT JOB!!!!

The soundtrack is awesome! I have listened to it six times in the last two days. All the songs I love, plus a new one... "Love Heals" is a great addition, and everyone sounds amazing. Wow. I can't get enough!

I love the new take on the fight between Roger and Mark in Goodbye Love. I can hear the tears in their voices..i was in tears myself listening to all the emotion put into this song..and all of them.

It was difficult at first getting used to the new arrangements and the missing lines (ex: RENT) but I love it..and I know it will work best for the movie.

Anthony-Halloween is even more amazing than the original..and I didnt think that was possible.

Light my Candle..its much different, but still so fun. Adam I love the new layers of emotion you put into the song..giggle everytime i hear your stuttering squeak (when you try to discuss mimi's a**). Also, one song glory..love the brokeness you put in and then the power. Wonderful.

I love the more tangoey(not a word i know) feel of Tango:Maureen, and the dialogue!

I'll cover you: reprise still breaks my heart..great job jesse making it different yet just as powerful.
wow..I should probably stop now or I'll be talking about every single track. all i can say is THANK YOU for this. EVERY song is unbelievable.

Ok, I've been listened to the soundtrack constantly since I bought it on Tuesday and I'm really starting to like it a lot. I'm so used to the OBC recording and the current broadway cast, that at first I was like why are they messing with something that is already great. But the more I listen to it, the more I appreciate the new interpretation of the songs.

Props to the entire cast on the soundtrack, you all sound great. Rosario and Tracie, you exceeded all of my expectations. You both sound wonderful.

Tracie, I talked to you at the Broadway Flea Market last weekend and you said how much pressure you felt when you took this role. If you are reading this, I just wanted to say you can relax. Not only did you not mess up the Rent, you are the best Joanne I've heard yet. I can't wait to see you in the movie.

Okay, now that I've caught my breath a little....

I went into listening to this CD with a strange mixture of apprehension and dread. I, like most Rentheads, have worn out my OBC recording, so to say it would take a lot for me to enjoy the movie soundtrack as much would be an understatement.

So - here's what I think:

It's very different. It's very much the same. In the end - it's all good.

Does that make sense?

The REALLY Good:

Parts of the new CD are vastly superior to the OBC recording. For example, the new version of "Rent", right off the bat, blew my doors off. The orchestration in this song is just so much better than the OBC version that I was shocked. And, surprisingly, I didn't really miss what was removed from the original (likely to be spoken words in the movie, I'd imagine.)

"Tango: Maureen" is another big improvement, and not just because of the orchestration. The interaction between Anthony and Tracie is so good that you can FEEL their mutual frustration with Maureen. What a wonderful addition...

(BOWING IN REVERENCE) Jesse L. Martin, I am not worthy, sir. After blubbering through four live performances the I'll Cover You Reprise back in the day, you have managed to make that song even MORE touching. Bravo. I have no words....

What You Own. I loved the OBC version, but this one is even better. It just has a much better overall feel to it, and, if the Sony people have any sense, this will be released as a single (along with Out Tonight and Rent, IMHO)

The Still Good, But Not As Good:

One Song Glory. Can't put my finger on it, but it's probably because this is my favorite song on the OBC recording, so the movie version left me...I dunno, less impressed. I guess it's hard to duplicate the power that song had in the OBC. It's still good, don't get me wrong, but - not my favorite on this soundtrack.

Without You. Maybe it's the lower octave that the song is now in, but it didn't have the same emotional feel for me. On the other hand, my wife LOVES the new version, so who am I to argue?

Overall, I didn't miss stuff that was taken out of this version that was on the OBC recording - the phone calls, etc. But - I REALLY wish Christmas Bells had made it to the soundtrack, though I understand the reason for cutting it. There's no way that song would play on a movie screen.

I'm sure my opinions will change after I listen several hundred more times over the next couple of weeks, but in the long run, I don't see how they could have done much better.

I CAN'T WAIT for November 23!!!!!!!!

My boyfriend knows how much I love Rent, and he lives in a city, and I live in a small town an hour away. He called me and asked me if I knew what today was (this would be Tuesday, btw). I said, "Uh, the Rent movie soundtrack comes out today! So, it's Tuesday!" And he was like, "Yes...honey, Mimi is your favorite character, right?" And I said, "Of course it is!" And he said, "Okay, that's all I needed to know..." And he hung up...I was thinking how weird that was...and when I saw him later that night, he had bought me THE LAST cd that they had at the music store...isn't that great?!?!?! I have the best boyfriend ever. The cd absolutly took my breath away, and it does get some getting used to, but I love it. I can't wait to see the movie!!

I was finally able to get it last night. After doing a midnite run to Virgin Megastore Monday night and them not having it and then going to Best Buy Tues night and them not having it I was finally able to go to Tower Records last night and find it. I was excited about the different covers but couldn't decide which one to get. Finally I went with Roger because he's the character that I identify with (and hope to one day play. But that will never happen). I love this soundtrack and I am so excited for the movie now. TMOLM is amazing! I love Rosario and Adam in Another Day. And all the other songs are great as well. This is going to be a great movie.

Love Heals is so great i wnated to cry when i heard it, it just rocks sooooo much! I love everything about the recording and i'm also really happy that i got all of the covers b/c i bought my album on iTunes!!!!! It came w/ a digital booklet!

LOVE HEALS is the best ever! I also love Tracie and Rosario so much, they rock and there cant be better people to have in it then them! I also love how I'll Cover You Reprise starts out with the melody of Seasons of Love i think that just works sooo well! Fanile B ROCKS MY WORLD and so does What You Own! The new version of the song Rent is great i say all the taken out dialouge when listening to it!

Wilson Jermaine Heredia is absolutely amazing in this soundtrack...he's so adorable that I just can't stand it (in a good way).

"Santa Fe" sounds awesome. Angel was (of course) the cutest thing ever, and as for Collins... just WOW. I love the new "whoa's" section. The harmonies sound incredible.

I miss "Contact" and "Christmas Bells", but I'm hoping the spirit of them will be carried through in dialogue somehow. Can't wait for the movie!

I just got the new recording! I got Mimi, because they didn't have any Maureen. I am so pleased with this version.

I was very nervous when I first heard about this movie. However, between the OBC folks returning, and giving us such positive feedback here, and now the soundtrack, my fears are put to rest. I am expecting some adjustments to make the story work on the big screen, but I think it will all be good! Huge 'thank yous' to the OBC gang-- you all sound fantastic, can't wait to see you on the screen. To Ms. Dawson and Ms. Thoms, you have both filled these roles wonderfully. The entire cast deserves all the applause and recognition possible for their dedication and commitment to keeping the Mr. Larson's vision intact. I've been a Renthead from day one and will be celebrating with all of you 11/23/05!!!!!

Well, there I was on Monday, innocently chatting with my friend (a fellow Renthead and Idina worshipper)over IM, when she tells me "I can't WAIT until tomorrow." Obviously, I had no idea what she was talking about, so I said, "Why? What's tomorrow?" "The Rent CD comes out, DUH".

Shock.

Pure and simple shock. I was so shocked that I almost fell out of my computer chair. In my head, I was SCREAMING WITH JOY. THAT was how much I had been looking forward to this. After I made SURE this wasn't some kind of sick, perverted joke being played on me, I flew out of my chair and ran to my parents, screaming "RENT COMES OUT TOMORROW!!! AAAAAHHHHH!!!" They, of course, had no idea what I was talking about, so I had to calm down a bit before I could tell them. I was SO grateful to have a Walmart by my house right then. I was sure my dad and I could go there and get the CD right after school.
School the next day was TORTURE, me wanting to get out of there as soon as possible, but having to LEARN. Ugh.
But, it was over eventually, and I was all ready to go to Walmart, when my dad told me he wasn't in the mood for it/didn't have enough time. I was thinking, WHAT??? I NEED THIS CD!! Poor man, not having Rent in his life.
So, around 8 o'clock at NIGHT, I was all ready to go to Walmart, and so was he. We went, and after 15 minutes of searching, I couldn't find it. I was all ready to break out into tears, but Dad to the rescue!!! We went to Barnes and Nobles instead (bless that place). So, back in the Music section, I look at New Music, and IT'S THERE!!! I almost have a heart attack just LOOKING at the cover with Anthony on it. I go through the covers, and find Idina and Rosario. What a choice, what a choice!! Finally I had to ask my dad to choose. (By the way, it was Idina. What good taste). I went to the counter, gave the nice lady my money, and suddenly I was the owner of my own RENT CD!
I put it on in the car as soon as I could get the plastic off and the cover as well. I was blown away. More shock. Lots of it. Not that I thought the CD wasn't going to be good, I just didn't know it was going to be THIS good.
When I heard Without You and I'll Cover You Reprise, I started to cry. The music is so beautiful and moving. The only thing I was not happy with was the fact that some of my favorite lines (Don't scream, Maureen, it's ME, Joanne), wasn't there. I know, I know, it will be in the movie, but I was dissapointed that it wasn't there. Other than that, everything was magnificent. Everyone was so good, more mature yet not losing the youth in your voices. Rosario, I loved your singing so much. I've been singing along with you for hours straight now. Really. Tracie, you were amazing. I heard you on the trailer, and I thought you were going to be good, but you were SO awesome! Take Me or Leave Me is great. One of my favorite lines so far is "Don't. You. Dare." It rocks!! Idina, Over the Moon was hilarious, how serious you sounded while talking about "a suicidal Mickey Mouse." Your voice is wonderful! Adam, Your Eyes was my favorite by you this time, although Light My Candle was a close second. It's great how embarrassed you sound when a calm Rosario tells you a little too much. :)
Anthony, Tango Maureen was amazing! The fact that there was the discussion about learning how to tango was one of the best parts or the CD. Wilson and Jesse, what can I tell you that everyone doesn't tell you all the time already? Today 4 U is a funny song, Wilson, and you really shine there as well as in I'll Cover You. Jesse, I'll Cover You Reprise was such a moving song. The emotion really shows in your singing, and that's what makes it a beautiful song instead of a corny one. Thank you all SO much for doing this. I haven't seen Rent on Broadway, (yet), so November 23rd will be a milestone for me in many ways.
I know I'll be crying while I'm watching the movie, and that is something. It really is, what you have done for all the Rentheads out there who have been patiently waiting. God bless!

I got the Mark cover. It was so hard to pick... I had to drive out of town to a completely different city to get my copy. It was definately worth it!

I love it! It's different enough to keep it interesting, but it's still the same old RENT!

I almost like it more than the OBC recording. For the most part it's more emotional.

I'm so mad. Seriously. NO STORE that I've gotten into contact with it has it in stock. Apparently in St. Louis, it's being delayed until October 4th. Luckily I got it preordered and waiting for me when it comes in. :) I'm just crossing my fingers I get lucky enough to get an Idina cover.

YaY! I was so excited for this album to come out that I ditched my 11:00 drawing class and went to the mall to go buy it . . . of course I'm a poor college student and was peeved that it wasn't on sale! But later that day my mom surprised me with it :) She got the last Roger cover sleeve and its all torn, oh well, I don't care!

I have yet to buy the soundtrack. i have the extended OBC recording I figure why hurry and get the new one? I ruined it for myself when Phantom of the Opera came out by buying the cd a week before the movie so there wasn't much of a suprise. It was rather disappointing.
Of course I say all this now when this weekend I'll go to the mall with my best friend Jason aka Angel (he's Angel I'm Mimi) and we'll buy like 5 copies......XD Take care all who read these crazy comments. God Bless.

Like many others, I was kind of nervous. I didn't know what to expect.

I shouldn't have been so nervouse- silly me! This recording is amazing. It retains the core of Rent- that life affirming joy- and yet it's more mature, it's...wow. Amazing.

And to Rosario and Tracie, you guys are excellent. Truly spectacular, and great additions to the album.

Tracie...you are an inspiration to Rentheads everywhere and I just keep seeing that video posted when you were saying it was like someone came up to you and said, "So you're a renthead? Different but good in its own right. Love the new people and the OBC. I bought to make me feel better about my high school drama teacher pasing away. She always didn't understand our fasicnation with RENT, she said she did the starving NY scene and didn't like watching something that you knew the moment you watched it who was going to die. Little did we expect her too. I am so happy the soundtrack came out though. It keeps my mind off of things.

The addiction is soooooo on!!! Hello Rent Disease!!!!!Everyone is quite amazing. I bought it east coast time on Monday night, having not stopped since. Love is the only way to" measure a life" and it also "heals". Thank you Johnathan for so simply filling my days and nights with love. I keep reflecting on how incredible the cast must felt inside these characters again. How thrilling it will be 11-11!!! I think the production of the recordings were mastered to near perfection. Rosario gets a little too drowned out in Take me out... but she's best on Light my candle! Tracie I am your biggest fan! You are the icing on the cake and polish this ensemble. You all are so good!!!! We are counting the minutes!!

From what I've heard on the clips, everyone sounds amazing! Rosario and Tracie.... I was, at first, resentful toward you guys. "They're no Daphne and Fredi". But from what I've listened to, you two are absolutely AMAZING! Such great voices. Couldn't have found better people for the roles of Mimi and Joanne.

I'm sure I'll have much much more to say once I actually get the CD, so until then...

Getting the CD yesterday made my LIFE. :-D

It's sounds truly awemazing. It took a little while to get used to the new sound of the music and the changes in voices/new voices, but now that I am, I'm very impressed! :-)

I was so lucky as well, the first store I went to didn't have it, but just as I was about to give up at the second store, THERE IS WAS! The last one there, and to my delight it had my favorite RENT character, Angel! :-) (I <3 you, Wilson J. Heredia, ha ha.)

I stumbled on the Rent site a few months ago. Out of curiosity I read the blog, enjoying what people posted. I was very impressed by the blog entries, and the way the cast and crew responded to everyone. I might be wrong, but I don't recall any movie doing this before.

The point of all this? I am a person who knows NOTHING about Rent and I can't stop listening. I got the soundtrack the other day and I'm blown away. The power in this soundtrack is beyond description. The depth and range of the cast is remarkable and it touches something deep in my heart too.

I'm listening to & grinning at "Tango: Maureen" as I write this, and I also can't wait until the movie comes out. I can't begin to imagine what you "true rentheads" are feeling, knowing and loving this for as many years as you have. You're going to get a TON of new fans joining your ranks though, so make room for us!

Love Heals is awesome! I am just so bummed that it can't be nominated for an Oscar because it wasn't written for the movie. It was written in 1993 by Jonathan. That's ok though. I am seeing this movie garner several oscar noms for other things.

This really is a beautiful work of art. Congatulations on breathing life into an already extraordinary album.

I'm going later today to get my copy of the soundtrack...I have the Broadway cast edition, but must have the Motion picture CD as well....Can't wait til the 23rd of november...I will be in line early that day! :)

Wow! Love Heals took my breath away and I think I started cying! The cd is so amazing and I can't wait to see the movie. Some songs were cut out and the sounds are a little different, but thats ok cause it sounds really good! RENT ROCKS!

here in SF where part of the taping occured copies are flying off the shelves to the point that they had to MOVE them to the main section in fear of selling out cause they can only get so many of each limited as of this posting @ virgin megastore roger sold out mimi sold out mark sold out(I got the last one)they expect an new shipment on monday

Alright, yesterday I went on for my bi-weekly blog reading. I was excited to see that the new CD was out. I was also worried that it might already be sold out. So I instantly went out to search for this CD before school, of course no luck. After school, went out in searched all over phoenix, still could not find it. Finally today I found only two copies left at Best Buy. So I quickly bought my CD (Mark Cover), and ran to my car to listen to it. Awesome job guys!!!!! Original cast, you still have that edge and passion in your voices, if not more! Rosario, Love you as an actress, but love you even more as a singer…..pure and enchanting. Tracie, you are also another amazing addition to the group, Loved you in “Take Me or Leave Me”.
I was a little surprised that some of the stuff has changed, but I understand the adaptation for the movie, it’s just kind of weird listening to the CD and not hearing the little lines in the music (“I’ll never be a theater person!”). The bonus track of “Love Heals” is amazing. I can tell that you all put your hearts and souls into making this CD and movie. So I thank all of you for that, cause I have been waiting for a long time for a movie adaptation of this show forever! Don’t get me wrong, I still love the live version of the show and will continue to see live shows of RENT. But I love the fact that now millions of people who have never seen or even heard of RENT will now get a chance to see what this story is truly about…..Hope, Joy, Love, and Friendship and among many things including, Life!

no way can i wait until the 23rd... i'm begging everyone i even remotely know to take me the l.a. the 11th.
none of the stores in my area have it yet, so i had to get them to order it... the other customers in line were making fun of me so bad... "make sure you get the angel cover... or maureen... or maybe mark? umm... no, roger. definitely roger. i mean angel." ach! the anticipation is killing me.
