Hi Idina! I loved you in Wicked and I love you even more in Rent. I refuse to go see it now that they have another person playing your part...sorry I just think you did it best :). Do you think you'll do a video of Wicked like Jesus Christ Superstar or Cats? Not like a movie type version but an actual staged taping of it. After all Rent comes out what are you planning on doing next...another play maybe? What ever you do I know we're all love it cause we all love you!

I definitely have the same beads and I love them. I cannot wait to see the film. I've been a Rent fan since I was 13 and at 21 now, the story is starting to take on a whole new life and a whole new meaning. I can't wait to see the film and what you have done with it. Congratulations on everything!

Hey Idina!!!!! Wow I think you sooo amazing I love you!! I am sooo excited to see your preformance in Rent because I have never seen you as Maureen. I saw you guys on the today show and I saw clips of your preformance on broadway.com because I live in Toronto. I would have done anything to be there cheering everybody on. Oh! and I downloaded your full preformance of Take Me or Leave Me from a fan site (idinamenzel.net). You were amazing! And Tracie was soo good too. I don't think November 11th could seem any farther away. I bet I am going to love the movie so much I'll show up to see it like 25 times...in one week. I bet all of you are going to become like mega stars from this movie and your going to win like 34989 oscars!! I hear your concerts are amazing. I wish I could go!! I even told my mom I would fly into Boston, see your concert and fly home the same night, but you know the parent thing "what if you get lost, no! If you were fifteen yes, but thirteen no!". I was considering telling my mom I was at a friends and using my savings account to pay, and sneak to your concert, how exciting would that be! But I'm on my mom's passport so I wouldn't be able to go without her. After your concerts what are you going to do next? I know you doing a show from october to november but do you know whats up after that? I hope you do more concerts. I was wondering could you guys do some promotion stuff in Toronto so Canadians can join in on the fun to, eh? haha. Well this has been the longest blog of the year so I will go now. that was so amazing to see all these video blogs from all of you... you looked beautiful as always, of course! unfortunatelly i didn't have a chance to be in one of your concerts (i have a good excuse, i live too far away... 11 hours' flight...) but i'm sure it was great... i can't wait fot this film to come out though i'm not sure i'll be able to watch it when its released (is "elsewhere" means the US or other places too? cause i'm from israel, so i was wondering about that...) i've listened to the samples from the soundtrack, sounds really good, i was only sorry that they didn't include your songs there as well...

Idina Menzel, you are the most amazing person in the world. You are beautiful (and your beads were adorable!) and you have a phenonomal voice! I feel so lucky to have been able to see you in Wicked (on the night that you got stuck!) and then on the Wednesday before that. It was my first trip to New York, and it also ended up being the most amazing week of my life. You truly brought across the message, and I was crying for about four hours after the show. You were amazing on the Today Show, of course, and I simply cannot wait for the moive. I plan on dying a lot that night. You are my hero.

Idina, you are so amazing! I too think that outfit is great! I can not wait untill the movie comes out, the soundclips that are on the RENT site are great, except, theres none of you on them :(. I am hoping that I can buy the soundtrack the first day it comes out. I can't wait to see you play Maureen. I wish I could have you seen you play her on Broadway, but I am guessing that this wil be the next best thing, maybe even better then when you did it on Broadway. It is really cool that the movie has the original cast in it, minus two. I am so glad that they didn't hire those pop stars. I don't think I have seen all the videos of you from this place, but after I finish this I'm going on the search for them. I wish that I could have gone to one of your concerts, but sadly, I live to far away. I wish that more people knew about your CD's, cause if they did, you have good enough music to be a huge star in my opinion. I heard about your "Falling through a holl" story, and from what it sounds like, it seems hilarious! I think that it is great that you can look back on that sad event and laugh at some stuff. I'm also glad that it didn't do huge major damage. I know that it did crack your rib, but hopefully you know what I mean. I have a few questions now, and hopefully you answer somehow.,If they did a movie of Wicked, do you think you would do it? I heard that you and Jennifer Laura Thompson are best friends, is that true, and do you still keep in touch with her? I've never commented before so, ummm...yay...

I'd just like to thank you for the last "happiest day of my life."

On july 28, 2004 I went into the city to see wicked with my parents. I was in the second row (cuz it was cheap!) and I remember thinking it was so cool to be able to see your faces that close, instead of just seeing a blur of pink or green from the back of the mezzanine. That was such a cool performance, cuz someone forgot to put your lunch in your satchel in that scene with dillamond, and you improv-ed your way out of it. (Now I'll be the theatre geek I am and quote it)

Idina: I was wondering if you'd like to share a lunch (looks in bag) oh, wait, looks like I don't have any lunch!
Will Youmans: Perhaps you left it in your locker...
Idina: (takes out notebook) here, eat this!

That was so funny...

and just thinking about your defying gravity still gives me chills.

anyway, about 10 minutes after leaving the Gershwin, we got a phone call that my grandmother had had a stroke, and it all went downhill from there...

this past year has been really not cool. Trips to nursing homes and hospitals, assited living facilities and doctors offices, only to be brought up with the prospect of recovery, then brought down to find out that she didn't have a stroke, she had a brain tumor. So in march, I was back to NYC again, and in a hospital room at NYU, watching my psychotic grandmother, and my struggling mom. Then, as time went by we thought she might be getting better. It was about then that rent was introduced to my life. I'd heard seasons of love before, and I thought it was great, but it wasn't until one of my friends let me borrow the cds that I really caught on. Now I can sing all of the songs by heart!

Even though my grandmother is still going downhill, with a flurry of anti depressants, and a crippling case of parkinson's disease, I still have wicked and rent in my life to take me away from that, and I'd like to thank all of the cast for that wonderful escape. And especially idina, for the last happiest day of my life. Thank you.

It's really really difficult not to compare current castmembers with the original.. I saw you during the Pre-Broadway run, and I was completely blown away.. Alright, so since you specifically said that you read these, especially when you're having a bad day, I LOVE YOU! My husband keeps asking me what I want for my birthday and he doesn't seem content with my response that I would just like to have coffee with you. He asked me how I would respond if I ever met you, for coffee or otherwise, he thought there would be screaming and jumping. I was like, "Well, I don't know. I'd be like, 'hi, you're phenomenal.' But then she might give me the look that Ellen Burstyn gave me when I got her autograph and she was tired and hungry and annoyed and I don't want Idina Menzel to hate me like Ellen hates me.'"

But I'll be in NYC for the first time early this November--and I am really hoping that my dates will coincide with your show. Because I think you are absolutely amazing and I actually might die upon seeing you perform.

Thank you for revisiting this role and thank you for Elphaba--Wicked has literally gotten me through a really tough year. I guess that when life is crappy, there's always musical theatre. Thank you, again, for being such a beautiful and inspiring actor.

I had the chance to see Rent when it was still you guys, I was 13 and I told my mom that I wasn't going to see a dumb play about money, my father being an accountant and all, they tried to tell me it wasn't about that etc, long story short, i didnt go and i've regretted it ever since, i just took my fiance to see it for the 3rd time, we saw it on our first real date, so yeah its got sentimental value

My favorite songs from your CDs are Once Upon A Time, You'd Be Surprised, If I Told You, Still I Can't Be Still, Heart On My Sleeve, and Minuet...to name a few. I saw you in Wicked last year and thought you were incredible. You really deserved that Tony Award- congratulations! I'm very excited for the RENT movie. I was very young when it opened on Broadway, and it wasn't until three years later I heard Seasons of Love, which changed my life forever. This is my first shot at "blogging" so forgive me if its stupid. I have been a fan of music since I made my way into this world. I have to admit though, there is something about the music in Rent that just drew me to it. To be honest I had no clue who you were until my sister got the soundtrack to "Wicked" last Christmas. I will tell you now..when I hear you sing..chills. That is all I can say. I remember listening to "Defying Gravity" multiple times (my husband got sick of it after a while). I can still put it in and get chills. I'm am so excited about the movie coming out. I just hope I can find someone to go with. My husband doesn't like music. I just want you to know that..you have a wonderful voice and I can't wait to see the movie. It still seems so far away. Oh well patience is a virtue. Hey Idina. If they had a show called Broadway Idol, you would always be my number one pick. I am very excited about the release of the movie and i hope to be first in line to see it. I have been an avid fan of yours for some time now. I first saw RENT when it came to the FOX Theatre in Atlanta, GA in 2003. It was a great experience and since then i have been obsessed with the show as well as the upcoming movie. I was so delighted to hear that you were in the movie after all the buzz said you would be. I am a giant fan of yours. You blew me away in Wicked and on the Rent OBC recording. When I heard your voice for the first time it inspired me to sing and I've been singing ever since. I just want to thank you for being an inspiration and I hope you have a good time promoting the movie and workng on new things. Come to Virginia to promote! There are many Rentheads here and my drama department has been chosen out of 30 schools in the country to partake in the Theatre Festival in Scotland in Summer 2006. We're trying our best to raise money any way possible and if you know of any organizations or something that supports theatre groups.

So I've commented once on here about how inspiring you are, and how much I look up to you as a role model, and that hasn't changed. :) And you can never hear it enough, so I just wanna say again you are so amazing and I just think you're great, and Wicked along with your other work that I discovered and heard and came to love through Wicked, it's all just so amazing and brilliant and inspiring. I do have a question though. I dunno if you can like answer it, but if not maybe just consider it k...I live near Vegas, and I'm a starving college student, and it's like really really hard to get to New York City or Massachusetts... I actually only went once to the city, and of course that was for the sole purpose of seeing Wicked. :) And I honestly can't say I know a whole lot about booking theatres and all that concert making things happen stuff. I'm sure it's really hard work, but I really wanna see you in concert some time. Like I was kind of hoping sometime before I'm out of college and I have all kinds of responsibilities and I can no longer use "I'm in college, I can do whatever I want" as an excuse to spend time at a concert. K so I'm going on and on, but the point is it's so awesome that you're doing concerts, but I was wondering what the possiblity of you doing one in Vegas or in California, even, is? So you're totally awesome. It's great that you're doing concerts now, and I'm so excited for you!! And if you can't get one on the Western end going, hopefully I can go out East and see one someday. :) You're just wonderful. Don't ever change.

We drove 20 hours to come see you perform in P-town and it was totally worth the drive!!! ok, well no matter what you wear you'll be absolutely beautiful, esp. in a cowboy hat and jeans. Okay, so im a little obsessed with the fact that i worked my ass off to go to your ptown concert on the 20th. Basically, i learnt about the tickets, scrubbed my dads toilet for a month and got enough money to pay for both of our tickets. We got there, with all my camp stuff in the trunk (i just got back from a month of camp in the berkshires) and i waited as you pulled in, and my heart stopped. and we got the tickets we had on reserve from the lady and she said "no lines before 6" (for the doors to open) so im like, ok, ill be here @ like 5 and idk wait around the corner till then, but i came, and there was a line, and i freaked out cuz i wasnt in the front (i no, im really greedy, but im not even gonnna TRY to begin how much you changed my life.) doors opened 3 1/2 hours later, i go in, thinking im going to be cut off by a guy in a wheelchair and having a mini-breakdown again, and somehow manage 2nd row seats, center. You came out and i cried. You are amazing, and soo beautiful and you just were heartstopping during your concert (o ya, taye and jesse were there, just to heat up the room even more) after it was over, i avoided the wheelchair again and ran to the stage door, and after like 30 minutes you came out and i was crying (and i dont ever cry, but you changed my life so much and this is really stupid as i type this, but seriously. ) o, btw the whole time this 40whateveryearold dad was trying to cut ahead of me. So you get to me, and i probably scared the shit outta you because i was about to collapse and i just tried to say what was on my mind ("i know you get this alot *sob* but you are seriously my hero *catches breath* and i wish i could take a pic with you, but i just wanted to say i love you and your scared of me right now") and you shook my hand and i died. ok, sorry, but i love you so much and im really sorry you had to (if you even did) read all that, because its just alot of crap that happened to me on the best night.

but anyways, you are my hero. you changed my life so much, and ive said this just as millions have over and over, you seriously gave me the inspiration to follow my dreams (wow im a loser) and your the most amazing person in the world, so if your ever having a bad day, rest in the security that you have 894356731270403589347523845398bagillion fans who will love you unconditionally, including me.

I still think you should try and do a concert here!! You and Taye would LOVE the Riverwalk, and Sea World adn there's lots of good stuff here!

I'm very bummed that there isn't going to be a limited release on Nov. 11th, I had bought my tix to come home to Philly so I could go to NYC and see it, but now it'll have to be me here seeing it on the 23rd.

Hey Idina! I justed wanted to let everyone who is involved with the musical as well as the movie how much this story of hope, love and life truly moved me. Just last a couple of weeks ago, my best friend and I experienced Rent for the first time on broadway. I can't even find words to explain the rush of feelings I felt for the characters, the music, everything. I cried more than any movie or musical has ever made me cry before, yet it was extremely inspirational and uplifting. I could identify with all the characters in one way or another. Now i definietly know what all the fuss has been about and am so looking forward to the movie! I have been faithfully checking this blog (which is so great by the way)! This story is something special and I am excited that you will be able to share it with the rest of the world.
P.S. I heard from a friend that you were breathtaking in Wicked. I only wish i could've gotten to see you, but tickets for that show were impossible to get when you were in it (gee, i wonder why...:)

At the performance I attended, the bed did not come out all the way before your makeover scene with Kristin. Your improv dialogue was hilarious. Anyways, one quick question. Is the new movie rent going to preserve most of the original content from the live show? Me and many of my friends fear it will "hollywoodize" some of the themes or downplay some of the more liberal messages. Nevertheless, I am excited to see it. Thank you for all of the great music!

I'm a relatively new Rent fan hearing the first songs a couple of months ago. Since then, I've found that this musical can attach profoundly with people from all walks of life. It's absolutely amazing that I can feel the emotional connection with the music even though it's not live.

As a member of the Chicago Children's Choir (come see us if you are ever in town!), I know what it is like performing on stage. The feelings welling up inside and overwhelming you to the bursting point while hearing music can be the greatest moments of one's life. Music can touch people's lives in ways that nothing else can.

I gotta say that I was a little hesitant when I first heard about the movie being made, but when I heard that most of the original cast would be in it, I flipped, and then I heard u were in it, and I am extremely excited! lol
For the past 4 years, I think that America, and especially New York has got together, and I think that this musical, Rent, is by far one of the best musicals (even though Wicked is up there too! lol) but I think it's rare now a days to find a really heart felt movie anymore, but I think Rent is simply perfect for that, and I cant wait till it comes out!

Ok, so I saw rent two weeks ago and i thought it was incredible! So of course I went out to buy the cd and then i see that you were in it and I was like... "omg she was Elphaba in Wicked!"... I haven't seen that yet but I'm goin on January 8. so anyway... I listen to the rent soundtracks all the time... i'd have to say I get a kick out of Over the Moon everytime i listen to it. It's now an inside joke between my friends and I b/c we listened to it so much when they were helping me pack for college (btw I'm going to Taye's alma mater, SU). So i just wanted to say u have an amazing voice and I can't wait for the movie to come out. It's the day I come home for Thanksgiving break so I have to make a bee line to the movies as soon as I get home. Hello from Japan (again...)

So I don't know if you remember me, I came to see your 3rd to last show of Wicked (which turned out to be your last show :( ... ) from Japan...anyway - have to admit the house is abuzz again -- they're all jealous that I'm actually going to get to see RENT in NY opening day (see my contract is ending and I'm heading back to NY in less than a week!! CANNOT WAIT!!!)

Anyway - you're extremely talented and it's great to see you and all the cast back together!

By the by - was reading this book "Rashomon" when my bud comes up and says -- you know who's going to be in a limited run of a musical based on the book you have in your hands...Cannot wait!!!! (Actually am quite intrigued to see how 19th century Kyoto is transformed into Central Park!) My mother will actually be visiting me in NY for the first time during the run and I'm taking her to see it! I only hope you're performing...has an understudy been cast yet?!

I have a friend who is in your acting class and sings your praises constantly....she raved about a scene you did from Angels in America, which is my favorite play. Idina Menzel is my HERO!!!!!!!!!! I can only pray to one day be as talented as she is. I saw her in Wicked in one of her last performances. I bought the cd because of the Tony Awards and then had to travel from Arkansas to NYC JUST TO SEE HER before she left. I cried before it started and all the way until the end, not just because it was touching but because her voice touched my heart and not to mention I AM Elphaba and New York is my OZ. I cannot wait to see her in Rent. I bought the cd of the original cast and I am singing Take Me of Leave Me in my competition in New York. I love you Idina!!!! You are my hero!!!!

Ahhh, living in Massachucetts has never been more painful! I've had absolutely NO opportunity to see you or the cast perform at Bryant or anywhere, and that really depressed me for a while. But I did have the blessing to see one of your last performances in 'Wicked', and it changed my life. I gave up my christmas, but it was by far worth it.

Unfortunately, I can't say I'm a rent head, because I've only allowed myself to listen to 'seasons of love' on itunes before the movie comes out. I think the experience is better when you hear it all for the first time. But, I can guarentee I'll be first in line at the movies! I'm counting down the days, and I KNOW you'll be great. =)

How can I even say it...you freaking rock! My girlfriend got me into you and your music (have all of your CDs now) and I think I have surpassed her as one of your biggest fans! You blew away all preconceptions I had about "broadway" and the kind of music you find on Broadway. Kaylee (my girlfriend) and I went to New York to see you in Wicked...and, again, I was completely blown away! I was a little too embarassed to stand out in the throngs of fans waiting for you when you came out of the stage door that night, but simply seeing you perform was enough for me!

I caught you on the Today Show and you looked hot! You were wonderful and I even TiVo'd it so I can watch over and over again. And you looked awesome on your video blogs! I have all of your songs on my iPod and you even have your own "playlist"!! Hahahah...my buddies used to raz me about it sometimes - but after a long bus ride home from an away game one night, my entire Lacrosse Team now has an "Idina" list on thier iPods!!!!! Not to mention we held a "Idina's gonna win" party last Tony night (imagine a group of guys sitting around cheering ya on, watchin the Tony Awards! hahahaha).

I'm from Boston and called and called to get tickets to see you at the RegattaBar this past weekend...but it was SOLD OUT! I was completely bummed - I was really looking forward to it...maybe next time. I know you're performing next weekend down on the island...I'm going to try and switch it up to see if I can make it!

Allright, I'll stop rambling (I dont even know if you guys really read these things or not) but I am looking forward to seeing you in RENT and will be first in line to get tickets!

You had many of us crying in our drinks with "I'll Cover You." You were entertaining, real, funny, generous, intelligent, touching, uplifting and inspirational. Ever since hearing you in wicked, especially defying gravity, and hearing the applause surrounding me, I knew that's what i wanted to do. I wanted to act. I've been acting for almost 10 years, but seeing you helped me realize what I wanted to do with my life. I just saw you Saturday in Cambridge. I was at the late show. And you were incredible. Funny as hell, too. Defying Gravity and Rise Up brought me to tears. And the band was fantastic too! I was waiting with a friend to see if you'd stop by afterwards, and you didn't, but I did get to see the keyboardist (John?) and compliment him.

I had gotten there pretty early, when your first set was still going. There were about 6 people there. My friend and I left to go get a soda at the bar outside and came back about 10 minutes later, and there were about 200 people! Everyone I was near was saying how excited they were and how much of an inspiration you are. I had never seen so many fans in one room!

But anyway, just wanted to tell you how fantastic your concert was. I wish I was closer to the stage (we were second row on your left side. At one point you squinted into the audience and waved in my general direction, and I waved back) because we could've gotten a photo. Nice camera, by the way. So yeah, great show, thanks for coming there!

PS - I love the beads, I've been looking for a necklace like that!

Hi Idina! Let us (Jacqueline and Kristina-your 2 number 1 fans-if that's possible) start off by saying that you are an AMAZING performer. We both got the opportunity to see you in Wicked and you blew the roof off the theater! You have such a powerful and incredible voice. When you were up above the stage singing "Defying Gravity" it felt like you had to hold your breath.
I, (Kristina) have your autograph (which is framed) next to my bed, on my personally designed Wicked table (obsessed? lol) and every morning when I wake up - I can't believe that I had it, having your autograph is an honor to me. When I wrote you my four page letter I thought that you would be to busy to read it because you are bombarded with fan mail, but when I got your autograph I was the happiest I could ever be. I was screaming and still, to this day I can't believe that I have it.
I (Jacqueline) got to see "Rent" as my birthday present, and was completely and UDDERly amazed. I laughed(and mooed) like a maniac during Over the Moon, which, in my opinion, is the funniest part of the whole play. In June, after we found out that "Rent" was going to be a movie, both of us were instantly hooked and have already made plans to see the movie the first day it comes out. The trailers are unbelievable and make us wish that November would hurry and get here.
When we found out that the cast of "Rent" was going to be on the Today Show, we had a sleepover and watched it together... a little strange, we know, but it was worth it. We LOVED your shirt...it is seriously the prettiest shirt on this side of the globe. We also loved your hair. ALOT. We loved it so much that I (Jacqueline) wore it the same way to a party and got tons of compliments. And boy did we love those beads. Thanks so much for being an inspiration and an excellent role model.

my best friend just went to college(on the other side of the country) and we were both sad about it. but before he left we wanted to do a bunch of the smae things we used to like cooking and playing with the piano. the reason i'm telling you this is becuase everything we did had to do with you and your songs whether in rent or wickd and it's shows that you are or were in that seem to keep us close even though we're not and i just wanted to say thank YOU so much.

I'm a little slow, but only recently did I finally connect that the absolutely wonderful Alphaba in Wicked was also Maureen in Rent. Two phenominal performances--what a gift you have! Thanks for your beautiful performances in both--but deciding which one I like better is like making Sohpie's Choice! You're a true broadway talent! Good luck with Rent, I can't wait for the movie. I saw it twice in NY on Broadway. The first time it was a little known show (at least in California, where I live). I ran out to buy the CD at intermission and it wasn't even out yet, had to wait many months before it could be purchased. The second time, it was a smash and I was lucky to get tix. Now you're a Bway star. How fun, I feel like I watched you grow up.

Idina - I'm from S.F. and had never seen a real Broadway show in New York until last September. My girlfriend and I went to see Wicked and were blown away by your amazing talent. I was so impressed with your performance and talent that I brought my two daughters with me to N.Y. in December to see one of your last performances in Wicked. They both fell in love with your singing and acting that we bought the CD which we play every night while doing the dishes. We then saw Wicked when it came back to S.F. this past month. May I call you Idina? I wanted to say to you that you are an inspiration and a role model to me and I can only hope someday to have a fine voice like yours. You take so much care in what you do and what you sing and it shows through your performances. I have never seen RENT or WICKED on Broadway because I am indigent and have no money for that BUT i have the soundtracks which i listen to every day because I love the raw emotion i get from RENT and the fantastic voclas and power i get from WICKED. I understand why you finally won that Tony award and I believe you deserve it! Your Husband Taye, is a very lucky guy to have met you because you just ooze charm and love and personality. I hope to someday be able to hit your vocal range because I always sing your parts ONLY because you are who i strive to be. But knowing that this movie is going to allow me to see what I love to hear, is just fantastic. When I found out RENT was going to be a movie I had been going through a really bad week, but that cheered me up for a month! Especially when I found out that you and most of the OBC were going to be in it. I love Over the Moon, I'm even considering doing it for an oral interpretation. You have the most amazing voice I have ever heard!! Everytime I play Rent or Wicked, I am just blown away! I know you hear that a lot, but still, it needs to be said. lol You are pretty much the reason I even like broadway. Growing up, i thought i was cool, so I listened to rap. My sister, who is also a HUGE fan, made me go to Wicked and I thought i would hate it. But I ended up loving it and now I am more obsessive than her. My sister is actually going to be in a Wicked play for her music teacher and I am so excited to see it! Anyway, so then I started gettting into Rent and I loved that too!! You're voice never ceases to amaze me! I actually sang along to Take Me Or Leave Me on a busride home from a soccer game and everyone was cracking up. I constantly remind all my friends when Rent is coming out, and they get pretty annoyed at me about that. I have never been to your shows. I live in central new hampshire, so its kinda hard. I would love to see you in person though, that is definitely one of my dreams. Well, thats about it!!! Good luck with everything!

This movie is going to be so amazing, the tour sounds awesome, I hear you are coming out west for a couple of shows that would be unbelievable cool!!! I can't wait to see this, I saw you live in Wicked, and of course was blown away. Tollbooth is supposed to be coming soon to an art theatre near by so another film to look forward to with you in it. I saw you in Wicked in February 2004 and was astounded. Every time I listen to "Defying Gravity" I get goosebumps. After that I went out and bought all the CDs that you're on. I went to NYC with my Grandma this summer and when I heard that yall were going to be on The Today Show I nearly fainted. I was so thrilled. We stood outside for about 5 hours before you sang but it was definitely worth it. You were amazing. I wish you'd have a concert somewhere in the South. An amazing voice, an amazing actress. Talented, professional.... what else can I say? "A phenomenal human being?" ...I wouldn't be surprised. Theater and all other forms of art serve many purposes. However, it is my belief that two of the most important ones are to entertain the audience and give us a breath from this fast-paced; ever changing; and, ironically, stressful world. ...Even if that means portraying crude reality in a stage - or a screen, - we still get a chance to let go and either laugh, cry, reflect, or whatever it is our bodies, minds, and souls want us to do. You - along with your also very talented colleagues - take this craft to a higher level and give us "license to disconnect."

I discovered who you were in Wicked.... then I saw you there for about 5 more times :-). And what a pleasure it was!

I usually don't bother posting comments, but I just had to take the time to say that you have been the BIGGEST inspiration to me. Words cannot describe how much you have changed my life, and that's through seeing you on tv and listening to soundtracks that you've been on. I, unfortunately have never seen you perform in person *cough come to Maryland cough* I never EVER have been inspired by someone famous, when I'm asked who my role model is I always say my parents. But for the first time, in my ENTIRE life I include someone aside from family on the SHORT list of people who inspire me, and that person is you.

I used to want to be on Broadway, but never wanted to work or sacrifice anything (I'm spoiled and things have always come easy to me) but now I'm working my butt off, taking acting and voice classes, keeping up with school (I'm 16), participating in my school show, and participating in another show which rehearsal demands don't conflict with the one at my school. Fortunately, I have insane time management skills which works to my benefit or I'd go insane and wouldn't be able to handle all of that. I have never wanted anything this much in my entire life, and this is even AFTER I made I got the reality check that it will require giving up the securities of having money at my fingertips and that I'd have to work...HARD. And all of this "realization" came from the moment I heard you sing "The Wizard and I" on the Wicked soundtrack and later I listened to Rent and the Wild Party. You have made me truly realize that "my future is unlimited".

Thanks for being such a great role model, I REALLY hope to see you perform one day in person because it takes a lot for me to admire someone. I can't wait to see Rent and best of luck (especially in your new show "See What I Wanna See"...did I mention that I frequent your website? Haha)

And while it would have been totally awesome to see you up there as Elphaba, Ana Gasteyer was just as amazing. (and through most of the show)lol. you have helped me become a better singer in a way nobody else could. I love you in the previews for RENT. I started to get into rent at a young age where I would be forced to memorize "Light my Candle" As I grew older I really got the message of RENT and started to listen to more songs. I heard "Jump over the MOON" and i still remember my words. "Oh my god who is that?! She's incredable!" I found out you were well... you and I followed you the rest of my life! In Aida (where I played Amneris for a short play of Aida at a program) The Wild Party, and Wicked (which I played Elphaba in the same program) I really got obsessed with Wicked and when I saw Wicked in NYC I cried because I saw you and i was so lucky to see you just six days before your accident. You are incdreable and I cant wait to see the movie! You are beautiful! I also saw you at the Tonys and I was so excited when they called your name to speak! I love you Idina!

Hey Idina!!!! I'm so excited about the movie because my friend and I are going to have a big sleepover at her house and then the next day go to see RENT. I was talking about it the whole day at school!! I'm also really happy to hear in your letter that you're comin out west(i hope that means L.A. lol!) It would be sooo cool to have my hero come out here and do a concert. I would really give anything up to meet you. Anything. Even my Bat Mitzvah party and that's saying alot! Keep singing and appreciate how talented you are and how awsome it must be to be on Broadway getting paid to do what you love. The rest of us just get to dream about it. This weekend I had a really bad cold and i was feeling soooo crappy. I just saw your show last night (Wednesday, October 12), SEE WHAT I WANNA SEE, and it was UNBELIEVABLY PHENOMENAL!!! I loved it so INCREDIBLY much!! And you were ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT in it!! Your acting, your singing, EVERYTHING!! It must be really hard working in such a small theatre with the audience right in your face...but you pulled it off so well!! I was in the SL side wearing a white collared shirt and a RENT shirt!! Afterwards we went outside and my friend asked for a picture but you said you were in a rush. Idina! you are my hero! from when i first heard you on the wicked sountrack, to when i got to see you in wicked - your energy and passion during the show was amazing - and what a voice. i got chills the whole time. One of the people i came with knew an ensemble member and was able to get us backstage! he also knew your husband, but thats another story... anyways, i got to see the sets and i touched your broom! It was so awesome to be there for one of your last shows; i look up to you so much. Before we went, my best friend and i performed "For Good" for our school's variety show.. i was you of course, with the green face paint and everything. I'm so excited to see you now in rent - i absolutely love the show.

I was going to post something about how I love your beads and outfit, thinking I was going to be clever, but about 5842646 people said it before me. Oh well, life goes on I guess.

Anyways, for the past 96 hours, I have done nothing but listen to the movie soundtrack in anticipation of the movie coming out a week from now, and I must say, the only other time I've ever been this anxious was waiting to see Wicked, oddly enough.

Just dropped by to tell you that you are definately an inspiration to me and I am planning on doing "Take Me or Leave Me" for my audition in a few weeks. It wont sound a fraction as good as it does when you sing it, but hey, not everyone can be absolutely amazing, right?

I can't wait to see Rent next week; the only thing I'm worried about is getting kicked out of the theater when I single handed;y perform La Vie Bohéme in the aisle.

i cannot say how much i love and admire you! I first discovered you a few years ago in Rent, and then fell in love with you in Wicked. I got the soundtrack in 2004 and have been not listening to anything but it for over a year now! After many months of begging and pleading with my mom, i finally got the chance to see Wicked and it changed my life! You are incredible and i love you soooo much! I am so excited to play the wicked witch of the west in my school production of wizard of oz becasue i feel like i have a greater connection with you now! love you so much! cant wait for your new play!

I read on your website in an article that you and Taye had gotten some racial hate mail. And i just think those people are jealous. They spend their time trying to hurt other people. But love is love. I think you two are beautiful together. Race shouldnt be an issue to people. I'm glad you've found someone who will love you back.
I really dont know if you get a chance to read these. I just want you to know what an inspiration you are to me and I look up to you very much. And I just believe in you and Taye and think its a beautiful thing. I'm just proud you're who you are. You're incredible.
I've seen Rent every night since its been out, so tonight will be my third night. Although its the same movie, i get a different experience each time. And going with different friends and seeing their reactions and emotions are just incredible. I LOVE love love the movie. I think its a lot deeper than the broadway production. You all put in so much effort with your characters and it just really moves me. Awesome job.

I just wanted to tell Idina that she inspired me from the very beginning of the whole Rent experience. I'm tryin to do this in a non-cliche way.. we'll see. I was a little girl when I first saw Rent, and it just so happens that my favorite Aunt had just come out to me. I didn't have a problem with it, because I never realized it was "wrong". I was like Oh, alright, so you like her instead of boys? ok. She's nice, You should like her. I got to school and was just telling my frinds and they told me my Aunt was going to hell. I cried for days. I heard about Rent, my mom told me about one of the songs, and I still have no idea how, but got me the cd, and I saw you as Maureen, and heard Take Me or Leave Me. I was shocked into silence for a few minutes, and I turned to my mom and said "Mommy, if she's like Aunt Gina, and sounds so pretty, and is so pretty.. she can't go to hell can she? So Aunt Gina can't either.." You completely calmed every fear. Obviously once I got older I realized that though you weren't a lesbian yourself, you definitely sent the message out that calmed me anyway, which is all that matters. I'm also an actress and am inspired by your drive, voice and also the way you keep yourself grounded. Congratulations on becoming everything I'm sure you dreamed about when you were my age. I only hope I'm just as lucky. Thank you for years of inspiration and calmed fears.
