We love these video blog posts that we are constantly getting! The video does seem like it was shot a long time ago, but I think it's great you still took the time to put it on the internet for us. Each day goes by as I erase one more day off of my RENT countdown, and it excites me that every day brings the movie closer. It was a nice segway into my school year... I am not really looking forward to it, because I dont' want the summer to end... but keep these posts coming and they will brighten up my day as always. Thanks again for the video blog, it was fun to watch. I actually think Jesse L. Martin in this video reminded me of someone I know, which was a little strange. I clicked on the clip and nearly wet myself when I saw the old Pier arch in the background. I had NO IDEA that's where you filmed "Over The Moon" -- I mean, I knew you were filming in SF but not at the pier! WOW!

It's just getting more and more awesome each second I learn about where and when you filmed in my beautiful City, because we San Franciscans feel so honor like we "own" part of this movie now! It's very invigorating.

I am so looking forward to seeing the movie. Looks like it's going to be wonderful.

My story (hard as it may be to believe):
I lived in the East Village in the mid-late 80s, in a loft like apt, doing photography while my roomates were respectively pursuing graphic design and conceptual fine art. We threw huge theme parties. We made friends with neighbors, We went to clubs all the time. We hung out in the neighborhood. We went to rallies and protests. And yes, we had friends dying all around us. It was a strange, scary, beautiful and wonderful time. It's amazing how accurately Jonathan captured it. That really was our life.

I didn't see the show in ’96: I was too ill with Aids. Wasn't able to emotionally deal with seeing it till 1998. I've seen it almost a dozen times since then (Thank you, Jonathan for the lottery tickets!) Each and everytime, I sit there in the audience in tears, seeing my life up on stage. (I even was a regular at Friends in Deed for a good 5 years.)

My health is fine now and, like the lucky few of us who have been able to, I've moved on with my life. And still, with a very vulnerable heart, I'm looking forward to seeing the film.

I want to thank each of you personally for all that you've invested in Rent all these years. You can't imagine how much you've validated my journey by living so fully in those stories.

That riot scene has got to be something I'm looking forward to a lot when this film debuts. Haha it reminds me of when a riot broke out at my school and I was lucky enough to have my camera with me, I tell you, those things are so much fun to film. Jesse, you kick some ass out there!

Speaking of the hurricane, it's been so upsetting, I have people in Louisiana and everything has changed for them...and I just reached them by phone today. These video entries make me so completely happy and excited! We're on Thanksgiving break when the movie is released in Ohio, but I've already been told by nearly all my friends here that when we get back to school, the first thing we're doing is seeing the movie -- because no one would dare see it without me.

I'm so excited for this movie! I was worried when I heard there was going to be a Rent movie, until I heard of those of you returning -- and by listening to the clips, I'm happy to welcome Tracie and Rosario into the fold, too. I trust you guys, and I know that the movie couldn't possibly be horrible with you all in it. :) I'm also very excited that Aaron Lohr is in it -- he's been one of my favorites ever since Newsies, and his "Will I?" solo sounds incredible. And I'm so excited for a new version of "One Song Glory" by Adam -- listening to that song for the first time in high school was when I fell in love with Rent. And a new "Another Day" -- not to mention "What You Own" (I play that song at the end of my radio show every week) and "Over The Moon" (Idina = amaaaazing) and my very favorite song in the show, "La Vie Boheme"... Okay, I'm gonna stop now, before I end up dragging this on forever.

Yesterday was my B-day and I saw clips of the cast of RENT and I am so disappointed in myself that I was to busy in life not to see the musical RENT and now it's too late. jesse do you know you are one of the best actors that I have seen in many years? you have this unique talent that no one can ever duplicate, and I really wish that you get your chance to play MG. yeah, hi. i just found this p[lace and thought i'd leave a comment cuz RENT is one of my favorite musicals of all time. i just got to see it a couple weeks ago and I adored it! Mark is my favorite character so kudos to Anthony Rapp. i love everyone in the show,and the show itself, with a passion!
i'm just a little hick from Oklahoma who wants to be on broadway. I'm no one, right? But RENT makes me feel like i'm part of something bigger. i can really connect with all of the characters. if i ever make it to Broadway , i want to be in RENT.

Yeah, those huge hiking boots were all kinds of hot, they really completed the Angel ensemble in a way the platforms or pink boots never could. In the Korean recording of Rent, "You Okay Honey" was mistranslated/written as "You Okay Home"- somehow I think this Angel would have sung the latter. Wilson, you may not want to play a drag queen all the time, but you're definitely working the skirt.

Jesse, after this, I don't think I'll ever be able to watch you on Law & Order the same way I used to. But it's a good thing, this cracked me up more than the Miranda rights ever could.

And yay Anthony, for finally getting yourself in a video! It was a bit too life-imitating-art to have you behind the camera all the time and just have your disembodied commentary in the background.

I must say that I have never, ever, ever been so excited to see a movie. I freaked out over LOTR and salilvated as I waited for the X-men sequel. But as the weeks pass, and the opening date nears-I find myself watching both trailers at least every 3 days or so and I just bought the beautiful movie poster last night (for the record I've only got 2 others as most are tacky)I've asked almost everyone I know at least twice if they know about the movie. This is after all a movie I never thought would get made and it still seems sureal to me. There are a few major reasons I'm so looking forward to this flick. 1 I was still a very impressionable 18 year old (who was so closeted I could barely say the word gay out loud and I am now 26) when I saw two versions of 1000 kisses I was taken. 2, I do NOT like musicals. I saw Colm Wilkinson in Les Mis and nearly fell asleep. The variety of musical styles really caught me. I am most excited though, to see you Mr. Martin sing the second version of 1000 kisses. I've listened to the original sound track too many times and still marvel at how IN the moment you were. Living in Toronto I never had a chance to see the off/broadway production and am elated that I will get to see the next best thing. Ok, the rant is over. Cheers to you and everyone behind this thing!

I'm not a 'Rent-head'...no $$ for Bway...but now that I've met Jesse L. Martin shooting a "L&O" episode at my house in Brooklyn, you can bet I will catch the movie! (which looks like it's going to be cool.) Honestly, you are fantastic, and you're singing at the Tony's in rememberance of Jerry Orbach made me cry. You are a wonderful talented man.
