I'm so incredibly excited for the movie. I've been buying all the magazines that have Rent articles and ripping them out and putting them on my wall....

I love the video entries because we get to see the stars talking! And it's so encourging how the cast seems to really think that the movie will be good.

I taped the Today Show! Anthony and Adam were amazing! What You Own is one of my favourite songs!

Posted by: Lydia on 08/24/05 at 09:26 AM

I was just wondering if ever thought about doing your own solo Cd. If you did I know SO many people would buy it cause we love you Anthony!

Posted by: Danielle on 08/24/05 at 09:34 AM

Thanks for the update! I've been watching the tape of the Today show over and over again and you guys were fantastic! I loved hearing you sing What You Own with Adam especially! I've always been a big fan of you, not just your talents, but what you stand for. It's great to have a famous Broadway actor who isn't afraid to be who he is, no matter what people might say about him. I find that very inspiring. I loved how you tell us to be who we are and to not let ourselves fall into superficial categories. And that labels are for soup cans..:) Good luck with everything, you're an incredible person and very talented.

Posted by: Becky on 08/24/05 at 09:37 AM

Oh Anthony! You're so fabulous! I wish that I could form some sort of intelligent message that is in any way indicative of my capabilities, but, alas, you have once again left me without a proper thought.

Posted by: KatyGrace on 08/24/05 at 09:38 AM

Thank YOU Anthony!

Thank you for putting your heart and soul into this work that means so much to so many people. Thank you for always being gracious and loving to the fans.

Posted by: Colleen on 08/24/05 at 09:40 AM

i love you anthony :). I was peeing in my pants when you said that about tracie haha lmao, i have it on tape. Thank you for really dedicating a lot of your time to making sure that this movie is as special for us as it is for you..becuase you really all have been making it special for us, so thank you.

Posted by: Melanie on 08/24/05 at 09:43 AM

Anthony - watching you at Bryant Park was heartbreaking... you put so much into your performance I couldn't even watch the first time at soundcheck.

You ARE Rent... and if you like the way things are going, then I like it too.

Posted by: Lea on 08/24/05 at 09:47 AM

Anthony,
You guys were so wonderful on the Today show and I was upset that I could not make it there, but I was at Bryant park. I wish my phone could support the text, but it is an old phone so it doesn't. I can't wait for the movie becauseI never got to see you when you were in RENT so this will be my first time seeing you as Mark.

Anthony... you are awesome. Thank you so much for the video entry, it made me looke even more forward to the movie. You have an amazing voice and "What You Own" was fantastic on the "Today Show". I was just wondering if you had any plans to do another album.... "Look Around" was amazing and I'd really enjoy some more original material from you. Thanks so much for, well.... just for being you. :D

Posted by: Rachael on 08/24/05 at 09:56 AM

We love you!! I saw you at Bryant Park and it was so amazing. I nearly got an autograph from you but I guess my short height took it's toll. Lol. Can't wait for the movie!! <33

I swear, just as I was getting disappointed with the blog for only spitting out icons and wallpapers, I log on and boom- video entries! Thank you so much for doing these for us. It's truly exciting to be able to hear a little bit from you guys about the movie. Thanks especially to you Anthony for all your activity in the various Rent communities- your posts are always insightful and a joy to read.

Posted by: Kelly on 08/24/05 at 10:05 AM

It's official, my sister is in love with you.
You and Adam sounded amazing on "What You Own," (I love your hand guestures!) You have really been the lead voice of the RENT movie and I can't beleive how great you guys are to your fans. I am looking forward to reading your book as soon as it comes out. I can't believe the movie is actually happening.
P.S The soundtrack clips on the website are amazing! There have been some arguements though, are those the clips as they'll appear in the actual soundtrack or are they still being mixed? Thanks!

Posted by: Caroline on 08/24/05 at 10:08 AM

aah i hate myself for not being there for the today show, i'm sure i wouldn't have been missed at work for an hour or so
you were awesome
i was in la (the highlight of which was seeing where part of RENT was filmed) and the first thing i see when i finally get to check the blog again are these video entries

thats so much for the update!

I recieved your autographed picture in the mail and (although i assume the production company sends them out) I wanted to thank you for doing that. Its hard to contact alot of artists and I really really enjoyed recieving it! You are now part of my mural (its a brick wall with broadway posters and some of my artwork and phtography)which i painted in my room.

Thanks again for everything you're doing.. looking foward to the film!

Posted by: Andrea on 08/24/05 at 10:34 AM

Oh, Anthony. You and Adam sounded so amazing on 'What You Own'. I absolutely love these blogs. Thus why I love you Anthony.

Posted by: Melanie on 08/24/05 at 10:37 AM

Anthony,

I just want to thank you for your graciousness when interacting with us fans. That day at Bryant Park, despite the extreme heat and the other commitments you must have had, you still took a lot of time to talk to the fans and sign sutographs (even mine!) and I just wanted to say that I really appreciate that. Can't wait to see the movie. I know you'll all be great!

Posted by: Ruby on 08/24/05 at 10:38 AM

Hi Anthony, thanks for the video update. If I had a cell phone, I'd so be downloading wallpapers and such. I might have to steal my boyfriends and do it. :) It's so great that you guys are doing fundraising events. You're all wonderful people and as a cast, absolutely amazing. I can't wait to hear the soundtrack, and of course, see the film. Jonathan's message spread to the masses - what more can you ask for?

In Love,

I remeber talking about the movie with you in Salt Lake City, when you were doing Little Shop of Horrors in October last year (I was the only brown dude in utah!) The movie has come a long way scince then! Anyways, great job with everything and I can't wait to see it! Marl is my favorite character in the musical! PEACE!

Hey Anthony!

It's great to hear from you. Your video entry made me laugh so hard. I wasn't able to make it to the Today Show and Bryant Park performances but a friend of mine who was taped it and let me watch as soon as she got back. I had to pause when you said that stuff about Tracie, I was laughing so hard. It's so great that you guys are doing this stuff for Broadway Cares. You guys are really making a huge difference. I watched the Today Show on TV and you and Adam sound so great together, it's like stepping in a time machine and going back 9 years. You don't even look older. I really love your solo album too. It's really creative and your voice is getting better and better each day.

I have two questions for you.
1) Is there any more news about your book? I saw on amazon.com that there is an official release date in February, but that’s it. I’m really excited for it.
2) On the Today Show, watching it on TV, there was a short little clip from the movie and you were saying something and then there’s a shot of Adam grinning. I couldn’t hear all of what you were saying because I think Katie Couric was talking over it. I’m pretty sure you are in the flat, but do you know what scene that was from?

Posted by: Becky on 08/24/05 at 10:58 AM

you. are. my. GOD.

Posted by: Jessie on 08/24/05 at 11:04 AM

Anthony, you seriously make my life. Thank you so so so much for all of your work at keeping us involoved. I almost fell over when I actually saw you in person in Bryant Park. It was so amazing just to be in the same area as you. You have to be one of the greatest people to walk this planet. haha!

I can't wait to see more of you once the movie promotion stuff hits. And then to see you as Mark on the big screen is going to rock!!

Thanks, Anthony!!!!

Posted by: Katie on 08/24/05 at 11:09 AM

hey! just want to say bryant park was a lot of fun. thanks for signing autographs as well. it was great and the athmosphere was amazing. everyone was excited and had tons of fun. hope all is well.

Anthony, I have heard people say that you are the epitome of Rent and I have to say I agree. Thanks for the update and the wonderful performance... wish I could've been there. Knowing you read and appreciate all these comments your crazy fans leave (lol cause you know that's what we are :D ) is amazing. Anyway, thanks again for just being you... and Mark, of course. Fly with grace.

Posted by: Aria on 08/24/05 at 12:37 PM

Hey, Anthony!

Couple things--first, I saw you on TV for the Today Show and you were fantastic. It was wonderful to see you getting the old harmonies back with Adam. If that's what you sound like live, I can't wait to see the movie.

Second, why did you and Wilson switch shirts in between the Today Show and Bryant Park? That was just an interesting thing for me to catch.

Anyway, best of luck to you in anything you do in the future. Looking forward to your book and I'm getting your CD as soon as I have the money.

Keep it up!

Posted by: Ashley Horn on 08/24/05 at 12:51 PM

Hi Anthony!
It was so wonderful to see you out in front of the camera rather than behind it! I am so glad that this film is being made and being made in this manner. I have been a Renthead since 1997 when I was 12 years old, and I met my best friend through the love of this show, so it means so much to me personally and artistically to get a chance to see the OBC in their original roles, and having Rosario and Tracie who seem so sweet and wonderful, only makes it that much better! I can only imagine the excitment you must be feeling and how proud you all must be of all your hard work. Since the project so clearly already has your stamp of approval on it, I know it is going be above and beyond all expectations. Thank you so much!
Love,
Amanda

Yessssss, we finally get to see the man behind the camera.. Anthony, you are so humble and sweet.. On top of that, you're an outstanding classy performer, and I respect that so much.. You're awesome! SOL on the TOday Show was so refreshing, and you & Adam performing "What You Own" got me so excited.. I can't wait to hear from you again, so update soon! hehe..

Oh, btw - I just watched Road Trip the other day. LOL, good times.

Posted by: Katie L on 08/24/05 at 02:16 PM

SQUEE! For once the cameraman is in FRONT of the camera! Loved the video entry- you're so sweet. Like others have said, you're completely the heart of RENT- there was no Mark before you, and you're the glue of the show(as is your character). And you're a huge role model for lots of people, the way you bounce effortlessly from stage to screen to your own music and writing... and the courage you have to be totally and completely out and screw everyone else(in a non-literal sense, that is ^_^).

Posted by: Fizz on 08/24/05 at 02:52 PM

The fans owe a major thank you to you - you have always reached out to us as much as possible and let us in on what was going on and I can't tell you how much we all appreciate it! You are such an amazing guy - I can't wait to see this movie! Thanks again for everything!

Posted by: Elee on 08/24/05 at 03:14 PM

Tracie, you are absolutly adorable! It's wonderful for your bright spirit to be added to such an amazing cast. I'm looking forward to seeing your portrayal of Joanne. Idina... what can I say? You are awesome. I pray everyday for a voice like yours! haha. All of you are so amazing! I can not WAIT for this movie to come out! Thanks to all of you for the love you give your fans!

Posted by: Karin on 08/24/05 at 03:16 PM

Hey Anthony!

I totally agree with everyone who has previously said that you are the glue that holds this project together. You make it so easy for us to want to support you guys in everything that you do. You've been so welcoming and it's so awesome to feel like we are a part of it all.

On another note, you were incredible at the Today Show! Hearing you guys belt out "What You Own" gave me chills put such a huge smile on my face. Great job at Bryant Park, as well. I cannot wait for this movie and the soundtrack. Literally counting down the days!

Hi Anthony! It's so great to finally get to see a video blog from you! :) I cannot wait for this movie! I'm counting down the day! I'm very excited for the Tango Maureen scene...I LOVE the pic of you and Tracie from that scene in OUT Magazine...you both look Great! That's gonna be such a fabulous scene! Also La Vie Boheme is another part I'm very anxious to see...it's like, my favorite scene from RENT and I loved the brief clips they showed on Access Hollywood a while ago! :)
I hope you guys do more cool things like Today Show as the release date get closer! ANd I hope I can make it to NYC to see the RENT 10-year reunion concery in April '06! :)

Wow you're such a sweetie. You remind me of everyone I love at the theater I work at. Thanks for being so adorably kind. We miss you on broadwayworld.com!

Posted by: Liza on 08/24/05 at 05:05 PM

Hey Anthony,

I never had the fortune to see you live in RENT (I was lucky enough to catch you in 'You're a Good Man Charlie Brown', so I did get to see you on stage) but regardless, I still think of you as the only person who can really play Mark. Perhaps it's because you originated the role, or maybe it's because I've worn my cast recording to death, but I just think you're amazing in the role and I'm so glad you're reprising it in the film. The guy they have as Mark on Broadway now, Matt Caplan, is absolutely terrible. I've seen it twice this summer and each time I was praying he'd be out, because he's just horrible. I found myself sitting there listening to every one of his lines and hearing in my head the way you would say/sing them, and there is no comparison. I guess what I'm saying is I feel like you really "get" Mark, and understand everything about him, and it shows. I think you're an amazing actor and I really can't wait to see you in the movie.

I also wanted to thank you for the way you are with your fans. I was at Bryant Park, and I was in the second row and I had an amazing time. After the show, when you guys were backstage and mobbed by a bunch of people, most of the cast were ushered through the crowd and left. I totally didn't blame them, because I know you guys were up since like 4 in the morning and they were probably hot and grossed out by the heat, or had places to be, which is fine. But you stayed and made sure that you signed everything that people wanted signed, and you signed my program thing. It wasn't even the autograph that was a big deal, but the fact that you stuck around to meet people was really awesome. I think it's great that you're so gracious to your many fans, and I was really glad to have met you, even if only for a minute.

Anyway, I've rambled on enough. The video blog was great, I'm glad that you had fun shooting the movie/returning to RENT. Hopefully I'll see you guys at the next thing you do here in the city.

Love,
Johanna, NYC

Posted by: Johanna on 08/24/05 at 05:08 PM

I agree with Columbus with a post he put in earlier. You are definately the "heart and soul" of RENT.

Woah. Hearing "that" phrase sort of made me giggle like a little girl for a little bit. Tracie and Rosario are lucky gals.

Posted by: Carla on 08/24/05 at 05:09 PM

Dear Anthony,
Thanks for reaching out to the blogs!(as Rosario said lol) Thanks for keeping Anthony-like lol. I love your little comments on the old blogs ;) hehe. Im very excited for this movie especially since I get to see all the originals together !! Your performance on the today show was just amazing. What you own is my favorite song out of the whole play!!

Posted by: Elise on 08/24/05 at 05:21 PM

Anthony,
Thanks so much for all you do for the fans. I've never heard of a theater/movie star who puts in as much effort for his audience as you do, and I'm sure you know how appriciated it is. I am so glad that everyone involved with the movie has put such heart into staying connected with us fans. It just makes everything so much more fun!
I was able to drag myself out of bed (no no no, really, I jumped out in excitement) to catch your Today Show performance, and my day was made even better by the fact that you and Adam did "What You Own" (and man, did you do that song some justice! So good!)
Thanks again,
Nat

Posted by: Nat on 08/24/05 at 05:37 PM

Hey Anthony! I would like to tell you how much I look forward to the new movie! I still can't believe that 6 of the original 8 are in it. I loved watching you in the short film and I absolutely love how everyone is so thankful about the support from the fans.
-Nick!

P.S. - The song "Now I Know" is beautiful. You are so talented.

Posted by: Nick on 08/24/05 at 06:20 PM

I love to watch you perform. You put so much emotion into it, you are just delightful to watch and you are just so cute! I am not a morning person, but I shot out of bed at seven to watch the Today Show to hear you all sing. You sounded amazing, exactly like you did ten years ago. I can't wait to see you in the movie. To me, you are the perfect Mark. Nobody can play him but you, you are Mark. I also love your cd. You have excellent voice, and it always makes me happy when I here you sing. Your voice brightens my day.

I don't know where to start to express my admiration for such a talented guy like you... You're definitely the heart and soul of Rent, the power and passion of each song makes me want to hear it over and over again.. Even though I've never had the chance to see you on stage, with the way you sing alll the songs makes me almost feel what Mark is feeling ans what's going through his mind... I mean, you created this role, who's better doing Mark than you? Nobody, I'm sure.

Take care and good luck for you and the whole cast, may this movie be the beginning of only good things for all of you!!

Hi! I am a huge fan , I am what they may call a "Anthony Rapp-head" jk. Well i was just watching the video and thinking about how you inspire me to do so much. Thanx! and I was also wondering if your band will ever be playing in L.A anytime soon?!?!?!? OK I think thats it.....yeah thats it....cant wait to see RENT!!!

I wasn't able to catch the Today episode on tv! I totally forgot about it, since I'm from the Philippines and the Today show airs a day after it airs in the US, because of the time difference (I think?). So it totally slipped my mind!

But I was able to watch it on the web, and I loved it. You rock, Anthony! I first heard about you on You're A Good Man Charlie Brown, and I wasn't a Renthead that time. Keep it up and take care!!!

"HOW DO YOU DOCUMENT REAL LIFE"

Dear Anthony, has anything like this ever happened in history of movie marketing? A true community of fans and actors coming together to celebrate a mutual love for the work and each other? After 9+ years, the phenomenon of "Rent" continues to inspire and YOU have been a best friend to fans every step of the way! You have exceeded our expections for staying connected "in an isolating age. Bravo Anthony!

Posted by: Michael on 08/24/05 at 08:42 PM

Wow. First off you and Adam absolutely tore What You Own up on the today show. It made me thankful for the brilliance that is Tivo. You (and for most of this cast for that matter) continue to be so genuine and amiable in your blogs. I just want to thank you for being a real person (whoa a celebrity talking about a charity and meaning it? That's crazy talk). Can't wait till the 11th.

Posted by: Jack (Cages) on 08/24/05 at 08:59 PM

Like one of the other bloggers, I never saw you in Rent, but I did see you in Charlie Brown and you are the definitive Mark and Charlie for me. It never really struck me before, but do you think there are any similarities between the two characters?

Anyway, thank you for being so great to all the fans. I stumbled across the blog early because of your other internet postings and I am now hooked. I feel more connected to Rent now than ever and it has a lot to do with how the cast is embracing the fans and the promotion of the film.

The audio tracks sound fantastic, especially Rosario and Tracie.

Any chance of more live performances?
And when are you returning to the stage?

Posted by: Neil on 08/24/05 at 09:41 PM

Anthony....

Gosh, I don't even know WHAT to say. Thank you, as I always say for everything that you do, and for being the truly wonderful, incredible person that you are. I can't thank you enough, in so, so many ways.

Hope to see you again soon.

You're so the perfect Mark, Anthony. Every time you give us a new journal (whether written or in video form), it's just so obvious that it shouldn't be anyone but you. I was listening to some of the songs from the NYTW version of Rent, and this histoy you have with the show is awesome. Not to mention, you still sound great as always. Can't wait to hear from you again.

Posted by: Lausy M. on 08/24/05 at 10:13 PM

Anthony--

Although it's three weeks after the fact, you (and everyone else) were unbelievable on the Today show. I was literally cheering at my TV screen and nearly had a heart attack when "What You Own" began. Anyone who can sound that good that early in the morning is doing something right. Also, Rent has given us so much and it is an absolute joy to support it, so for the cast to expess thankfulness for what the fans do warms my little heart. We truly appreciate the incredible group of people that you guys are and the efforts made to include us in what is happening with the film.

On a somewhat unrelated note, I recently saw Adventures in Babysitting for the first time, and you were hands down the best part (I <3 Daryl). Also I find that I cannot stop listening to your solo album--hearing you just brings a smile to my face! You're a very unique and amazing performer (and person), and we all love you for it. Looking forward to your book!

I just want to say that you are an amazing actor I look up to you and I wish I can be you for one day. I mean that would be like the best day of my life. I became a RENThead last year of May2004 I mean I haven't seen RENT which is killing me because all my friends have seen it and well it's like my life. I listened to the songs and it just blew me away that one single song would change my life forever. Anyways I can't wait until the movie is out. I'm dressing up as Mark Cohen...but nothing is compared to you...ive heard recordings of the other Marks and everytime I listen to your voice it just amazes me.. I hope your having a good year which I'm pretty sure you are and good luck with your career! hope u read this ..lol

Posted by: Mico on 08/24/05 at 11:31 PM

Mr. Rapp,
I wish more than anything that I could sit down to tell you personally the impact your work has had on my life. The intelligence, truth, compassion, and fervor you project is something that has inspired me for years and will certainly continue to do so. Thank you for what your shadow of thought has allowed my own to do- to grow.

Posted by: Kelley on 08/24/05 at 11:36 PM

I went to see Rent today for the very first time with my younger sister. We're new Rent-heads, and like so many others discovering it for the first time, it's a bittersweet feeling to experience the sheer, unadulterated joy of it so long after the original cast moved on to different things. We went for the lottery, and didn't win, but stayed for the matinee show anyway, as I'm sure many other struggling NY'ers do every day..because nothing was going to stop our seeing that play, not empty wallets, missed trains, or karma.

The current cast was wonderful, beautiful, and so talented...but you, all of the original broadway cast, but especially you, have spoiled me for everyone else, and this was all through the limited arena that is my sad little stereo. In my mind, there is only one Mark, even if we never truly saw him- lonely, and frustrated, and talented, but above all, loving.

You inspired me, sappy though it may be, to dredge up those forgotten dreams of blistering hot lights, the energy and sweat and drama of becoming a theatre actor. Maybe I won't make it, maybe I'll end up back where I started - but I'll at least have tried. At least I'll have tango'ed at all.

So I guess this whole much-too-long comment is just to say...well if you're reading this, thanks. Thanks alot.

I looking forward to the movie, and to enjoying all of your future endeavors.

Anthony, What I love most about you is how dedicated you've been to us from the very beginning. Writing to us and such. Your dedication to AIDS and Jonathan Larson foundations is tremendous and I really admire you. I cannot wait until the movie! Thanks for always updating! Great performance of "What You Own" also.

Posted by: MaryAnne on 08/25/05 at 01:39 PM

You're my favorite. Ever. Thanks for the update!

Posted by: Kim on 08/25/05 at 02:20 PM

Anthony!! I always light up whenever I see your name anywhere. You are THE coolest person on the face of this earth, bar none, except for Adam, and Rosario, and Wilson, and Jesse, and...yeah ok, a lot more. But you share the spot as the coolest, so that's a good thing!

You are the only Mark - no one could ever be Mark, cuz you're him. Not for lack of trying, but they just can't make him the real Mark. I LOVE your voice, and I'm going to buy your CD as soon as I can. You in "Tango: Maureen" always gives me chills, new version and old...and you and Adam singing "What You Own" on the Today Show made my year!! I taped it and, wow, that's all I can say. Wow.

Thanks for everything, seriously, thank you!

hey anthony!

i've already mentioned that you are my god... but i just really wanted to praise you and all your talents.
you are the most adorable thing EVER! your video makes me squeal! i showed it to all my friends and they were like, "awww he's so cute!"
i'm soooo glad you sang "what you own"! it is one of my fave songs in the show, and i finally got to hear you sing it LIVE! ahhhhH! it was amazing! if i could have been there (i kinda live accross the country), i would be screaming at the top of my lungs! ha, all my friends came over to watch it on tivo at like 11-no one can PAY me to get up that early-and we were screaming and squealing the entire time.

best of luck on all your future projects, everyone is def. looking forward to it-i know i am!

love,
jessie

ALSO! in adventures in babysitting, you are HILARIOUS! i have a still of you blowing on the window, and now its my avatar for broadwayworld.com! btw-you need to come back, we miss you!

Posted by: Jessie on 08/25/05 at 04:59 PM

Hey Anthony,
We miss you on the bww.com boards, but we are so excited and glad that you are still posting on the internet. The Today Show was really exciting for all the RENTheads to see... Every time a little snippet of RENT is inside a magazine, someone is sure to post it on teh bww.com boards, so I am already collecting up my magazines for this movie. I am excited, and I hope that one day I will see the cast on the cover of one! Until then, post away and thanks again for your individual video blog... we love this RENT website and we appreciate each of the cast's dedication to the boards.

Anthony,

I just want to say thank you for being you. You're such an amazing person and I really look up to you. I mean, if you can get out of a hellish suburban town where everyone works in a prison, and become a Broadway star, then so can I. Just, keep on keeping on, and I can't wait to read your book.

I just wanted to say that all of you did an amazing job on the Today Show and in Bryant Park. Sadly, I couldn't see the performances live, but I was able to see some clips. I just wanted to say again how glad I am that you're reprising the role of Mark in this movie, because you have done such a great job in both the OBC and in this movie. I also want to say that it's wonderful that the cast of this movie is supporting the organization. If only I was allowed to text message...*sigh*. Once again, I totally admire and respect your talent and I can't wait to see this movie. Bye for now, love Jazzy M.

Dear Cast, Crew and fellow RENTHEADS....

The trailer is incredible and only makes me want to be in Toronto on November 11th even more. This brings me to ask... will any of the cast be coming up to Canada anytime soon for any interviews or performances? It would be incredible if you could.

On a side note, the touring cast of RENT (that just passed through in March), was the most powerful and moving performance I have seen of this show ... the cast pulled it off. By far the best touring production I've seen and heard live.

Can't wait to see the show. All the best,
-Steve

Posted by: Steve on 08/25/05 at 09:18 PM

Hey Anthony!
i was just curious, it may seem like a dumb question but this has been kinda bothering me latly. what really defines a RENThead? i've only seen Rent once unfortunatly (i live in Seattle and we don't get many major shows that often), and i look on forums and such and see people who've seen the show 7, 8, even 10 times, and i feel like i shouldn't even call myself a RENThead. it's like my one theater ticket and the hundreds of times i've listened to the soundtrack is nothing compared to what the real RENTheads have seen.

i'm only 15, but seriously, seeing Rent has really changed my outlook on life. i'm nearly desprate to see it again (i was very close to hitch hiking my way to NY so i could see it on broadway). sometimes when i feel like life isn't worth living anymore, just listing to What You Own sets me straight. i honestly look at life diffrently after seeing Rent, that's how big the effect was on me (just look at my e-mail adress =D). God, i still cry at the end! there's so much more i wanna say but i don't know how to put in in writing. i dunno, if you could just tell me what really makes one a RENThead, well, i guess that would put my soul at ease.

but besides that, can't wait for the movie, i'm also trying to get 'Mark scarf' to wear for when i go see it, so far no luck, but i'll keep trying!

sincerly yours,
Tara

Let me first say you were o nice at Bryant Park. It really means a lot to all the screaming fans (including me) that are on the other side of the barriers. So anyway, Im going to school to hopefully one day be one broadway, do you have any advice? Also, I hope to try out for Mark one day. DO you have any advice for that? What was the audition like?

Any advice is GREATLY appriciated!

Oh, I'm so thrilled. I can't wait to see you in this movie, you were so great in What You Own. And I think it's wonderful all the work you're doing for Broadway Cares. Anthony, you are too cute for words. My daughter and I sing What You Own all the time and she does your part, tee hee! We have a blast.

Thank you so much for posting and giving such a charming demeanor and eloquence with words to Broadway Cares, the play and movie of RENT, and to us. You're someone I could talk to for hours. Your vocals are flawless and enthusiasm for this project are evident.

Basically, thanks for being you!

All my best,

Hey Anthony!

Thanks for answering my question on one of your blogs. It came as a really nice surprise and quite a shock that you did. I thought my question would be lost in the tons of other questions that you've received.

The movie looks great, the trailers are amazing and the words "I can't wait" or "I'm dying to see it" cannot do justice to my anticipation for RENT. The only thing that sucks is that the US release date is in November and we don't get to see this movie in Poland until April 28th:( I hate polish distributors.

Speaking of which, maybe you and other cast members could come to Poland for like an offical premiere or something. Think about it.

Give my best to everyone involved and keep doing what you're doing because apparrently you're awesome at it!

Cheers
Pawel

Hi, I know you get a lot of fan mail, and I totally 100% understand if you cannot get back to me. I just wanted to let you know that I loved the musical, before I even saw it (my drama teacher let me hear the music)! I am now a freshman in college and would like advice on how to make it in the theatre business. I want to open a theatre and have the profits from that would go to support a psycatiric clinic to help those who need it, in any area. I would just like some advice from someone who has been a success and been around for a while, and again I completly understand if you don't have time.

I was having a bad semester at school and everyday I would pop in my rent cd and everything would be ok for a while. So all of you guys have a huge impact on all of us. Toodles

Hey Anthony,

First of all, you are such an inspirational person. You're sending a great message out to all your fans, 'just be yourself'

I was wondering, does the shirt with the star on it have any significance? I've seen pictures of you wearing the red one over the years (backstage at YAGMCB) and then there's the grey one you wore for the Open House photo shoot. I was just wondering if there was a special reason or something. Whatever it is, clearly Wilson likes it too.

Thanks for taking the time to read everyone's posts.

Unfortunately, i don't have the No. 4 sony... so I can't donate money in that way. But I'll keep looking for websites and other ways to help. And of course, I'm going to see the movie every day until its out of theatres! At least that will boost your income! ;)I'm so excited- I've really gotten attached! And the trailer is unbelievable. you are such an amazing actor.... i can't wait for you to be in other things. Keep up the amazing work!

Anthony,
I know this is probably late and you might not see this, but I really wanted to thank you. Personally, I see you as one of my heroes and role models in life. From what I know about who you are...it's just...inspiring and such an amazing force to look for guidance to.
I was very happy to see that you and Adam and everybody were involved with this project. I mean...I don't think any cast has ever compared with you guys and I don't think any other cast could have done justice to this movie (not saying everyone else sucks...just...they're lacking).
I hope one day to meet you personally. I hope one day to be Mark Cohen and experience what it's really like on that stage.
But thank you...really...for the start...for the hope and inspiration.

Sincerely,

Hey Anthony!
It was so great to see you on the camera instead of behind it! Thanks for the blog update, and thank you so much for being so giving with your time. And you're right about the support..it's out there in huge numbers. I would have been there in Bryant Park, but I live too far away..I was there in spirit though. You did a fantastic job on the Today show -I was clapping and cheering from my couch.
I have a quick question for you too..
I just found out that the bonus song on the soundtrack is going to be Love Heals by Jonthan..is that right? I heard a rendition by Sherie Renee Scott and it sounded lovely. Any reason why you decided to add the song? just for something special or because you wanted a nice credits song? I thought it might have been for an oscar nomination..but then someone said that it would only get a nomination if it was written specifically for the movie. Well, I duno, I'm excited for it in any case.
All my support and love

I just realized you only had 115 comments..and I say that the "heart and soul" of the RENT cast should have more posts than that. So here I am again to say how much I appreciate you and your work. You are so wonderful to the fans and we love you for it.
Also, I just saw the new trailer..and it is remarkable! You were great in the dialogue I got to see..can't wait til the whole thing comes out..its too far away.
Well thanks again for everything

Anthony,

I just wanted to express my heartfelt gratitude for all you do. Your involvement in this project has meant so much to us, as I'm sure you know. It's absolutely heartstopping that this is all going to happen in just a few months time. A dear, dear friend of mine passed away this summer, a fellow Renthead, and I know just how much he would have wanted to see this. One of my last conversations with him was when the first trailer came out, and we sat up until two in the morning discussing the black market copy he had obtained (how very bohemian!). He loved you and the play, and he would have loved the movie, I'm sure of it. Thank you so much for playing such a huge role in his life, and in mine as well.

All my love,

Mr. Rapp, your dedication to this movie and to Rent is so inspiring. I can't thank you enough!
I'm totally looking forward to your book, I'm spreading the word about it right now! I'm sure it will be amazing and I can't wait to read it!

I have to say first off that Anthony, you are too cute.
now that I have that off my chest, I would like to let you know how moving your performances are. I can't even put into words the feeling I get when I listen to the soul and power in your voice. RENT has changed my life, but It would not have had the same effect on me if the cast were any different. Thank you for your amazing voice and presence.

I apologize for the length of this post but please read it Anthony.

I mentioned the fact that my daughter and I sing What You Own all the time..well she is 18 and you are her favorite character too. I wanted you to know that because she's one of those hard to please young ladies, she gets on my nerves somtimes lol, and she just loves your role and how you played it. These days I'm more the kid in the family though, RENT, RENT, RENT, RENT, everyday...in the car, on the internet, on my music player...and when those aren't on, I'm singing it. My skin is crawling with anticipation to see this movie!

I will mention again, because no one has really addressed it; I would love to further support Broadway Cares and I think a wonderful idea is to have RENT bracelets, the kind that support causes, for sale. It would promote the movie as well. I've also mentioned bumper stickers or window decals. I want to help the cause AND actually wear/advertise something that promos the movie and helps. Think about it. Out of everyone I think you are the one that could make this or something similar happen!

Again I say, I could talk to you for hours, you're smart and funny and it's a shame you're off limits (to me anyway lol). I adore your style and wish you much love and success.

Hey, it's Jazzy M again. I just wanted to add that it's us who should be thanking you guys, because you guys are so awesome to your fans. I mean, talented actors and actresses who give their fans so much just by either posting a video or just writing on the website, that's a pretty rare find. It's pretty refreshing. In other words, you guys are so nice to us and it means a lot. Anyway, lots of love from Jazzy M

Anthony!!!!! Wow you rule!!!!! We loved your video and it was very cute how you talked with your hands especially when you were talking about sending text messages. You are amazing. We also love all of your other video posts especially the one with Wilson and Jesse. Keep up the good work.
Love,
Sarah and Sara

Anthony, you rule! I live all the way in British Columbia so I didn't get to see your guys' performance *tear* but I'm sure it was awesome! I don't have a new enough cell phone to text that number, but I'm planning on buying a bunch of stuff from the Broadway Cares website once I get my b-day money! You guys are all so great and deserve all the support you guys are getting!
Carpe Diem,
Kaleigh!

Anthony,
Huge fan of RENT, but that goes without saying.

What I did want to say is how amazing that you guys are doing so much for BCEFA. Going through high school as a Florida State Thespian kid, I've been part of raising money for it for four years. I think we raised just over $20,000 dollars last year at the conferance. And to see something so huge , something we all love so much raising so much more money for it...it is awe inspiring. If you ever do get to read this I just wanted let you know that.
It is actually how I found out a lot of the OBC was in RENT and that it was defintly becoming a movie... I was on the BCEFA site looking for information to convince our football fanactic princeable that we should be allowed to raise money ( I failed... miserably) and I saw something about spending the day with you.

Anyways, this is so much babbling and you have better things to be doing , so I'll leave you be. It is so amazing how you guys keep in touch with fans.

Anthony!!! Thank you for coming out to talk to us before you guys went on at the today show, it just confirmed the rumours that I have heard that you are one of the nicest guys in the world. Thank you for performing "What you own" and thank you for bringing Mark to life again- I can identify with the character so much and nobody in this world makes him come alive more than you. I love you! - Sammy

Anthony, I can't even tell you how much I admire you. I act in my school's plays, I love acting, so you've always been very much a role model of mine. You're unbelievably talented, down-to-earth, and I can just tell you really give your all. Thank you so much for putting your heart and soul into such a fantastic play and hopefully an equally fantastic movie. I can't wait for the movie.. I've watched the trailer a good 15 times. I know it's going to be amazing, especially with you in the cast :)

All I have to say, is when I was in the movie theater and I heard the intro to Seasons Of Love.... I literally jumped out of my seat and ran around the theater screaming "oh my gosh!!!!!!! Im so excited... " some people looked at me like I was crazy, so I just looked at them and said... you all should be excited too.... RENT is coming to theaters in almost 4 months.... I could hardly watch the movie I had gone to see because I was so immersed in the idea that one of my favorite musicals was turning into something that I could take home with me! I am still enthusiastic, I watch the trailer for the movie almost every single day. I can guarantee that I will be seeing this more than once. I am way excited that some of the Broadway cast is in the movie!!! Anthony, your voice is to die for. I love listening to every song on that album, especially Tango Maureen. Although I love the Tango Maureen, I am totally amazed with Seasons Of Love. Every time I hear that song its as if it's the first time. Everyone that I know that is in my drama class will be seeing this movie... trust me, i already took a survey!
Thank you for putting in the time and effort into making this movie, I know I will enjoy it.... I hope everyone will too!!!!!

Mr. Rapp,

I have loved you since I laid eyes on you as Darryl Coopersmith in "Adventures in babysitting" and it was ONLY recently that I had learned you were still around because rumors were you were dead...I am glad you are not because this world needs more Mark Cohen's and NO ONE can EVER play him as well as YOU! I never seen the play and this movie is my dream ticket( its like I found a golden ticket) because I can see what I always wanted to but for a price I can afford. I listen to the soundtrack of RENT every day and I love how you make me feel..like "hey you know what..no matter what is going on in your life, a friend will always be there and its going to be ok as long as you take it day by day" Its like I have a best friend blasting over my speakers! I know you have worked really hard and it pays off in your emotion, pain, love and sense of humor that you convey in Mark. I do not think you are that different from Mark in real life because I always imagined you as having his sort of attitude! Your family and friends and love are lucky to have you in their life and we the RENT fans arelucky not only to have Mark, but Anthony in OUR lives! keep on rocking!

Hey Anthony! I was so happy to hear about the production of this film, and I wanted to congratulate you. I was also wondering if you remember your production of Hedwig and the Angry Inch in Hartford, CT. I happened to attend one night, with a group of friends. The girls in the ticket booth came out just to take our picture. You see we actually wore the foam "Hed-Heads" to the show. I just thought that you may remember! I was so moved that you took the time to sign autographs, and now being here deployed in Kuwait I listen to Rent, or watch Hedwig, and I feel a little closer to home with every word and note. Thanks for just being you!

The film version looks awesome and it's amazing to see Anthony, Adam and all the rest on the big screen. I've seen the show 12 times and every time I fall in love with it and the characters.
And now we'll all be able to enjoy it on the BIG SCREEN and on DVD (can't wait to watch it at home and dance around with no one watching!).
Anthony's been one of my favorites--his solo CD is amazing and he's got a great voice. If you've not gotten it, GET IT NOW! And also check out his version of THE LITTLE DRUMMER BOY on the Broadway Cares Christmas CD. He and Everett will rock your world with their version!
Best wishes for a great film!
Peace out,

Dear...everyone involved with Rent

I've been a lurker for a while so I thought I'd finally comment. I don't watch TV so of course I missed your appearences on the Today show, thank God you guys have them online. They were amazing. I'm looking forward to the movie, I have 11.23.05 as my screen saver lol. My best friend and I plan on seeing the movie in a cat suit, along with a group of others who may or may not be dressed up. Currenlty I'm trying to convince one of the Deacons at my church to go as Angel. Oh the Irony.

Anyway keep the videos and blogs coming I look forward to reading and watching them!

BTW from a theatre critics point of view (not me my best friends mother) the trailors have been outstanding. They really make people wanna see the movie. I've talked to folks who have no interest in musicals or plays and they say that the trailors just make them REALLY wanna see the movie. Then I get the joy of telling them it's a play on Broadway and they're like *GASP!*

Good job, guys, keep up the good work!

Wow. I am sooo thrilled that RENT is coming to the big screen. It is an amazing play that should be remembered for all time!!

I've only seen the show once, but it was enough to get me hooked :)

The Today Show was great, you guys! Im absolutely obsessed with What You Own-- its def. one of my favorites. Toodles

"Mark are you there, are you screening your comments it's..." well, it's Lauren.

Anthony, I just wanted to say that you and the rest of the cast are simply AMAZING! But you knew that! Anyway, saying that I am a huge Rent fan is the understatement of the century...Rent is my life! BUT...I'm not gonna ramble and act like the deranged Renthead that I am, so I just hope you guys realize how much you are admired and loved by your fans! I can't wait to see you and the rest of the cast on the big screen! Thanks for posting and keeping us updated!

No Day But November 23rd!

Love,
Lauren

Hi Anthony,
I just wanted to say that Im sooo excited for this film as is everyone else here. I first got into RENT about a year and a half ago because one of my best friends is obsessed! Sadly I could never afford to go and see the show when it finally started touring to Canada. Now however, I can go see it!!! Im so happy! I have a question. I heard somewhere that they're going to switch the order of "Goodbye Love" and "I'll Cover You: Reprise" is this true?

PS: I have now officially beaten my best friend when it comes to obsessing. LOL

hi anthony,
i want to send fan-mail to rent
but it has to be an e-mail adress cus i can't print out the picture cus my mom would kill me for using all the ink.
also your book without you is in the mail for me i cannot wait to read it
i just want you to know rent moved me
it really did. i am only 12 and when i walked out of the theater i felt as if i was in the story
and i had hope. alot of hope
if i were to describe rent i would say "it's about love,it's about friendship, it's about creation, it's about being yourself, it's about life, it's about hope, and it's about jonathan."

i didn't evan know him and when i just think about him and him dying when he was such a wonderful person i just wanna cry. when i was watching the documentry on the DvD i was just so emotional. he just deserved to know tha he was such a sucsess. he needs to know his "baby" rent was a sucsess. but i think he knows i think he allways knew it would be a sucsess the whole time. he knew.
i can see how rent is his life i can see it in all the characters in all the songs in everythihng.
