Thank you for reminding me, whenever I put the Rent and Wicked soundtracks in my cd player—not playing simultaneously, of course, although THAT would be interesting—just why it is that I choose to be a dreamer. Ah, yes, I suppose it's one thing to have to perform 'Over the Moon' every night, but it's a completely different experience to have to perform it continuously for, like, three days straight. It’s like cramming two months worth of performances into a tiny three day window. Woah. You have every right to be as exhausted as you appear to be. But it looks like your spirits are high and you looked absolutely adorable throughout this entire video. You'll always have all of our love and support.

hi Idina!, your so incredibly talented its crazy how much i cant wait to see you perform 'Over the Moon', One question I had and i'ts kinda for the whole cast is I know that youre doing a special 10th anniversary special on April 24th..but for those of us who can't go because we don't have the money or parents won't pay for us, I wanted to know if you guys could think about doing more then one show for regular price tix like maybe come back for a week or something, I know it would mean a lot to many fans because for instance I was 5 when it first came out and I was only allowed to see it when I was 13 so I never had the opportunity to see you perform. Musical theatre is my life, I live in Monterrey, Mexico, and this will be the second time I'll get to be in an amateur production of RENT (in spanish) and I'll be playing Maureen, who is to me the funniest and most adorable character in the history of musical theatre. That was a wicked amazing blog! At first my computer wouldn't let me leave you a comment but now it does, so I'd just like to say THANK YOU for taking the time out of your busy day to post a blog for us! You rock! Thats cool that you're doing Over The Moon live. Before rehearsal today my friends and I listened to that about 7 times. It was fun though. Our show is July 28th, and we're not really supposed to be fooling around during rehearsal, but that was BEFORE rehearsal, so we decided it didn't count.....plus, using the stage was fun.

I really want to go to one of your concerts, two of my friends are going to the one in Provincetown, but I'm not allowed to go because my parents don't feel like driving me. Two more years and I can drive myself!

I heard about the 10th Anniversary of RENT event down in NYC. I'd really love to go, but I'd have to somehow manage to find myself $1500. I think I'll just enter the lotto and hope for the best.

I hope that the movie release stuff goes well for you, I cannot WAIT to see you and Taye and everyone on the big screen! I am so excited!

I would say brake a leg but the last time I said that to someone they actually broke their leg the very next day and I still feel guilty for that one....so good luck!

ps: You should definitely check out The Agony and the Ecstasy movie. Charlton Heston does a great job playing Michelangelo and Rex Harrison (loved as Dr. Dolittle) portrays a respectable Pope Julius II. There's also in intro to Michelangelo's works at the beginning I'm sure you'd appreciate (though it can get boring if you've heard about the subject for the past month, love the art history class!).

Diet Coke...Leap of Faith...Can't wait. I watched Jay Leno the other night and no offense to the touring Elphie but I've heard nothing that compares to you as Elphaba.Even the short PBS clip I got to see was so intense. Maureen is the same I believe and I am thrilled to see it LIVE!!! Over the moon with a leap of faith 11.11. Hey, you are definately winning most popular on this blog!

I saw you as Elphaba in Wicked last October and you have become my role model since. You help me try to reach my dreams of being on broadway even if some things get in my way. I was having a hard time in deciding what I wanted to do in high school. I tried out for band and then found out that I had to choose between band and being on my swim team so I chose swimming and thought that the music would be lost. I quit piano lessons after 10 years because I hated them with a passion and when I finished 8th grade my mom told me that it was my choice because she thought that I taught myself more than anyone could teach me. I still wanted to do something with music because it had been passed down through my family for generations. It turned out that the choir director put my sister into a higher choir and needed a new accompanist. The little sister had a good word put in for her by her sister :) I had to try out and I was sooooo nervous that I almost couldn't stand it! Setty knew that and she helped me tons! I became the accompanist for my school's treble choir and freshmen choir. Setty was forced to retire due to medical problems and I was crushed! I had worked for 10 years doing something that I hated just to have her retire and have nothing. Then I came across Wicked... It made me realize that I love music more than anything in the whole world. I quickly bought the soundtrack and read the book version. Then I started to find little clips online and pictures and it made me realize that I couldn't give up my dreams and my loves just because someone told me that I didn't practice a song enough or because my teacher retired. I needed to persue MY dreams!
We got a new choir director and I don't like her. She doesn't play piano and she has almost no experience. My sister said that the Andersen girls would be running the choir this year, at least as accompanists :) At least I won't be the only "stupid freshman"

Wow everyone's telling you how amazing you are haha, that it seems so cliche, but you really are. Just like, I'm not gonna tell you my life story haha (and I know this is a Rent Blog) but just from the time I heard about Wicked and then saw you in it to now has been the best year and a half of my life. And finding my passion and so many oppurtunities arising has been just so amazing. If I told you all my little stories that would take like 5 pages and 10 hours, but I look up to you so much as a role model, and I only hope that one day I can be as great as you. And I'm not gonna overload you with all these compliments you read/hear 50 times a day (even though they are all true) I just wanna say thank you for being such an inspiration, because your work really has influenced my life a lot and will continue to make an impact on me as I'm starting college this year (yay) and I find my way in this world, and hopefully achieve my dreams. I'll quit rambling now. But keep up the good work, and keep letting us know what's going on.

But I just wanted to tell you that 'Still I Can't Be Still' got me through Junior High School back in 98 and 99... and "Rent" (the obsession which brought my best friend and I together eight years ago) continues to inspire me artistically and creatively and personally. You are amazing. You are gorgeous. And I feel really blessed to have been introduced to your talent and your lyrics and your kick butt voice as a young girl. Thanks for the post! I can't wait to see how "Over the Moon" turns out; the trailor looked amazing. And I can't believe you're not lip synching... It shows how powerful your voice must be for it to still be going strong. Any horseness yet? Drinking lots of tea? (Try Tazo: Passion. It's not a prefessional remedy, obviously, but it's delicious!)

Did your accident in the last performance of "Wicked" interfear at all with recording and filming? I know you were able to take time off, and there was a bit of a break before recording, but I imagine a rib injury must take a temporary toll on your ability to sing. Hope your recovery went allright!

Good luck with your summer tour! If you come down to the DC area, I can gaurentee a group of adoring fans who will be cheering as loudly as they can for you. Glad you enjoyed Rome!

It is so funny! I was watching The Broadway The American Musical DVD about an hour ago and I was watching the part where they discuss how Wicked was made (because I am overly obsessed with it! I saw it about a year ago with my brother.)and my mom walked in the room when you were defying gravity. It was right at the part where you were belting out that last 'bring me down!'and she asked me "Who is that?" I told her "thats Idina Menzel." Her face had the most aweful look about it and then she said "She is INCREDIBLE! I can see why you love it so much. We should go see her in it sometime." When I told her you weren't in it anymore she asked if you were working on anything at the moment and I said that you are currently working on 'Rent the movie' She smiled and said, "We are so there girlfriend!" lol. I was like "duh!" You really are "INCREDIBLE" and I can't wait to see this movie. I am taking all my friends to see it cause I got them all into 'Over the Moon'. It is like our song now! :) Hope you had the best time and I wish you luck in the future (not that you need it Tony Gal!)

I recently been getting into Wicked, and everyone thinks that I have forgotten about Rent, I think that I would've forgotten about it if they weren't making a movie about it. (Considering the fact that I am a Rent Head who is going through poverty right now, so I don't have enough money to see the show but let's not complain about that.) I just find it so pathetic that I live so close to NYC and I have only seen it twice!

i figure i should write something diferent, just in case you or any other cast member gets to read this....

a funny story about those microphones... we used the same kind of mics when we staged rent here in my country. in the eulogy scene, when our mimi and maureen hugged before maureen's speech, part of mimi's wig got caught in the mic. it took a while before they finally pulled apart, but there was this little lock of curly hair stuck on our maureen's mic. from the audience, it looked like a curly hair growing out of a big mole on her face. we were cracking up backstage, but the rest of them onstage were struggling to keep themselves from laughing during such an emotional scene which, of course, made it even more hilarious. lord knows how our maureen managed to keep herself together, with that thing in her peripheral vision!

Hey there Idina, i am so depressed my dad finally said he would take me to one of your concerts in Provincetown and now they are all sold out. I CRIED!!! Life is very depressing, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE think about doing a concert in Philly, because i really want to see you perform your own songs sooo bad, because i love them so much!! And i know it would be a hit 'cause like everyone in show choir at Pottsgrove Middle School is now like obsessed with WICKED and you thanks to me! =) lol i leave for Musical Theatre Camp tommorow at Westminster Choir College, the theme is "Music from the land of Oz" and on Wednesday we see a musical, hopefully WICKED!! It will be intersting to see Shoshona Bean since i have only seen you perform Elphaba, and from what i hear people say you are the best Elphaba ever, and even though you are the only i have seen perform Elphaba you ARE the best, because you are Idina Menzel, and you rock!!

i think this will be a great movie!!! its kool to have the original cast and some new comers ( tracie and rosario, u guys are amazing) idina i loved wicked and i saw it on broadway but u were already gone when i saw it which was sad ( but shoshana bean was amazing. u and taye diggs are so cute i love taye in chicago, ur the best part of the movie. i am now inspired to go out for drama in highskool. i love drama, i am a ballet dancer and its so much performing. i have been dancing for ten years so far but hope to continue. this movie will be great

I am also a broadway actor, I am turning fourteen in a month, and I was in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof last year, playing at the music box, a block away from the gershwin, I have seen rent 3 times, but unfortunately i was too young to know what rent was when you were in it, so i am so glad to be able to see you perform on the screen, i also saw Wicked twice and worked with a hairstylist named andrea who worked on wicked. I watched a PBS video aobut the history of Broadway last night. RENT was the final show they profiled. I am more couriuos about the show now. This fall will be amazing.

Well I know these 200+ people will be moo-ing liek crazy during that scene. I know I will be, no matter how much my friends stare at me.

I am not going to say I'm your number one fan, cus I know I'm not, but I do think you're an amazing actor (i call everyone actors, except people that can't act, i mean no disrespect.) I'm really behind everyone else as far as learning things about you. I didn't know until after you'd been gone for a few months that you left Wicked, I didn't know the release date of Rent until a few weeks ago, and I just got the Rent CD today, but I still say I'm obsessed.

Rent was the first musical I ever saw and I remember cracking up during Over the Moon and crying in the finale... it's just an all around amazing musical. When I found out that it comes out on my 17th birthday, with the original cast, that includes you... my jaw hit the floor.

Anyway, should keep this short (i'm doing a horrible job eh?) cus I know you read these and you have a bunch left to read (most likely), so Happy (insert holiday)! Until you hear from me again... Anna.

That much "Over the Moon" must be extremely difficult, especially since it requires so much energy. It's amazing that you did it live. I'm even more excited to see the movie now. By the way, I go to a performing arts high school and those huge mics are the only ones we use. They can be really distracting when we try to sing and dance, so I feel your pain there, haha.
