I have always loved the music from Rent, especially seasons of love. I've only seen you in bits from Aida and School of Rock but I can't wait to see you and all the other actors of Rent on the big screen. This will allow you and the other actors to portray the vision to those who normally wouldn't go and see a Broadway musical. Good luck with this project and many others you may have in the future. :)

Awesome! I added my own Rent forum to the WebRing.

I was blown away by seeing the OBC of "RENT" and now I can't wait to see you all again, with the few exceptions that I am sure are great. Really I am writting because since I have seen "RENT", it has been my DREAM to move to New York and make it in the show. is there ANY kind of advice or help you could give me???? Please respond. Dan.

Posted by: Dan on 07/12/05 at 05:04 PM

I was a freshman at NYU when this musical hit Broadway, and being that I had just moved to NYC from Southern California, I had NEVER seen a Broadway musical. This was my first, and 10 years later, still my favorite. I love that it's coming to the big screen and kinda feel like a huge nerd that I wrote the premiere date in on my calendar at work. Let me take this a step further...does anyone know if the trailer is playing in the theatres yet...and if so, what movie is it preceding? I need to see it. Thanks!

RENT is by far my favorite show, but i had my doughts about making RENT into a move. I just saw the trailer and I am very happy. In my eyes the only way I could see it working was with most of the original cast and you did it. I can't wait to see it and I think you guys did an awesome job.

Thank you all for making what has become a life-changing production for me. I truly try to live by "no day but today" as that really is the advice we all should live by. Adam, you are Roger to all of us (I saw Constantine Maroulis from American Idol play Roger on the road, by the way) and I am so pleased most of the original cast is back.

We can't wait.

God bless you all and thank you.

I think I'm going to cry.. thank god for google so I could find this...!!! I have a HUGE question.. Does anyone know how a joe like me could get tickets to the RENT premiere?!?!?! I think it would be the ultimate experience. Please anyone?

Rent is the most amazing broadway show. I've seen it 6 times and can't wait for the next time I can see it again. I was worried about it being made into a big screen production, but with most of the original cast involved, I know that it will stay true to the message and vision that Jonathan created.

To Adam and all the others,

Congratulations on what I am completely sure is something that will touch the lives of an innumerable amount of people throughout the entire world! Those of us who were unable to see you guys do this onstage are all beyond thankful for the opportunity to do so now, on film -- you guys rock, in every sense of the word!!

Love and encouragement,
Michael

Adam, Cast, & Crew,

Thanks so much for keeping everyone updated this way. I'm sure I echo the sentiments of thousands when I say that I am beyond ecstatic that this film is actually coming to fruition. I first became a RENThead when I was 14. I personally feel that this film couldn't come out at a better time in my life as I just received my first degree and can relate much better to the Jonathan's expressive book and score than I could when I was 14.

Adam, I was curious, do you have any plans to return to Broadway? I never got the chance to see you on stage, but your voice is amazing and I would love the shot.

To everyone else reading these posts: Don't worry!

I know a lot of people are worried about changes. Of course things are going to change. Nothing can, nor should, be replicated exactly. If you would take the original stage show and put it exactly as is on the screen, that would be like taking a piece of art from a museum and photocopying it. The film needs to be its own, unique project. Just as each director and actor to partake in RENT has made changes and interpreted the show different, Chris Columbus must be given a chance to put his own "stamp" on the show. It's clear that everyone involved is devoted to Jonathan's message. As fans, that's all we can ask for!

Adam and Cast, best wishes in your future endeavors and good luck with post-production! If anyone is in the Philly area and feels like camping outside a theater with me, my e-mail address is: forgetregrett@gmail.com

Anthony....How awesome of a time it seems that the Cast is having/had...I for one would like to know when you made the transition..if one...from screen to stage? AND....Aside from the obvious..what are you finding to be the differences in having done the stage "RENT" and doing the live-action "RENT" ?

Posted by: Andy on 07/16/05 at 05:56 PM

Just wanted to say hello to the entire cast and crew and anyone who has ever been involved with any production of RENT. It is my all-time favorite musical on so many levels. It has really hit home for me from the moment i first heard the music. I have now seen the touring show 7 times, in 3 different states (never made it to NYC, but still trying) and have even driven in the ice and snow for 3 extra hours to see it. I have been waiting a long long time for the movie to come out. So very excited here, of course now I can't wait for the DVD so I can experience RENT whenever I want to. I have a wall in my house dedicated to RENT....framed posters, playbills, buttons, autographs etc... I even had a cd of the show form Norway. Gosh, I'm such a RENT nerd, but who cares, screw it if you dont understand us RENTheads. Just hope to see you all at all the award shows next year. Best of luck to everyone involved and thanks for making this movie. Love ya all......Jeff

Hi Adam, i'm a big fan of yours and am looking forward to seeing you on the big screen. You were awesome in SLC Punk! RENT to me seems quintessentially NYC, with its references to the Life Cafe and Alphabet City, etc. That said, i was surprised to hear the movie was filmed in San Francisco. Were parts of it filmed in Manhattan? I hope so, because i think new york city is a big part of why RENT is so edgy and hip. Cheers, Allyson

I had the wonderful chance to meet all of the original cast the week after you guys won the TONY in summer 96. Since then I've seen on Broadway Adam (AIDA) and Idina (WICKED). While on the road I saw Anthony (LITTLE SHOP). I even had the wonderful pleasure of interviewing Anthony here during his Dallas, Texas stop.

So my question is to Anthony: Is that connection and "vibe" we talked about transferring onto film? You and I had a great conversation about that during the interview.

When I saw the RENT trailer at the movie theater, I just welled up in tears. Never thought I would see RENT FINALLY make it to the big screen.

I plan a HUGE bash here in Dallas for all of us RENT fanatics on your opening weekend!

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY already has labeled the film "Oscar buzz". I'm keeping my fingers crossed for all you come film awards season!

Sincerely,
John Garcia, Dallas Texas

Ive been waiting about 9 years for this day. I went to the movies this past friday and tears almost came to my eyes when I saw the trailer. RENT has been my inspiration since the first time I saw it in Boston my freshman year of high school. The amazing songs & storyline inspired me to get into muscial theater in college & after college. After many times of seeing it on Broadway & seeing the touring company I just cant get enough. Now I will be ale to watch it over & over with some of my favorite actors in the world (although I am disppointed Daphne Rubin Vega is not in. Anyone know why?)
I am sooo excited for November!

hey adam
i just wanted to thank you. I use to not be a Renthead, but that all changed when i heard "one song glory" for the first time. I just want to know, what do you recommend for preparation for someone like myself who is interested in pursuing a career in broadway?(roger being one of the many characters i would love to play)
hope all is well

Hey Adam!
Yeah so I'm at 13 year old girl who just has had a life revolved around theater since I was 7. singing, dancing, acting- the whole bag! I love it! And I've always loved the music for rent but recently got the cd's out again and just fell in love with it all over. I literally sit at the piano and play the music for hours on end. And personally I love your work with rent so far- on stage, off stage, in front of the camera. Your voice is amazing. And yeah this is really long but I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your work.

God bless you,
-Kate

So, it's only July and we're all ready chomping at the bit waiting for the movie's release. I just hope the entire cast knows how much they all mean to the fans around the world. I just had to write a note of thanks! I think I can speak for everybody when I say we wish the cast nothing but continued success, both professionally and personally. Thanks so much guys!!
Forever a fan!

I cannot even begin to say how excited i am for this movie.

I have only recently (last march) gotten into rent, my loss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is SUCH an amazing show, everytime i hear 'without you' 'seasons of love' 'goodbye love' and 'Your eyes' it makes me cry. I know just about everything in the entire soundtrack by heart from listening to it so much. Whenever I'm sad, anrgy, or just upset rent is ALWAYS there for me and always cheers me up.

I am not exaggerating when I say this musical has changed my life.

Thank you. For everything.

measure in love...

Emma

P.S. Idina you are my IDOL and Adam, you have SUCH an amazing voice

I just want to say that I am so excited that "Rent" is being made into a movie. I have seen the musical numerous times and my first time was on Broadway with the Original Cast. I cannot express how happy I am that so many of the originals are going to be in the movie. However, I do have to say that I am apprehensive about the long hair Adam. What is that? How did that decision come about seeing that Roger has always had short hair (and you did on Broadway)? So excited about the movie...it will be a great birthday present to me (4 days early)! I wish you all the best and congratulations on bringing this AMAZING production to the big screen for EVERYONE to see! Cheers!

I have seen the play seven times and can hardly wait to see the movie. This is a great treat for people who don't have an opportunity to attend theatre on stage.

Posted by: Lisa on 07/28/05 at 07:39 AM

THIS IS SO AWESOME! I cannot wait for the movie to come out!
I listen to the cast recording non-stop. I'm only 13 right now, and I live near Vancouver, so when "Rent" came to the Queen Elizabeth Theatre I jumped six feet in the air. My mom wouldn't let me go see it (*tear*) so I have never actually seen the play.
Now, to make sure I can see the movie as many times as possible, I have now gotten a mind-bendingly tedious job, that pays less than minimum wage, just so I can have some money to see the movie at least 20 times!
NOW FOR GUSHING!!!!!

-IDINA, you are awesome and you're CD's are positively rockous! I'm totally in love with "Larissa's Lagoon" and "Once Upon A Time"

-ANTHONY, Mark is one of my favorite musical characters of all time! I can't imagine anyone else playing him! Great CD by the way! "Out Out Damn Spot" is just terrific!

-JESSE, I heard you sing at this year's Tonys and it was beautiful! Your voice is gorgeous and you do such great work on "Law and Order".

-ROSARIO, I was a little skeptic when I heard Daphne Rubin-Vega wasn't playing Mimi, but I've seen you in other movies and I have full confidence you will rock the kasbah as Mimi! You go girl!

-ADAM, I've heard you as Radames and I've heard you as Roger, and you're spectacular voice never changes. The entire "Civilian" CD is amazing! Rock on!

-TAYE, I recognized you in "Chicago" and you're an awesome actor! "Kevin Hill" is my favorite show! I can't wait to see you in "Rent"!

-WILSON J., You are just beyond words radical! I'm sorry to hear about the heels giving you grief, but it'll all be worth it when fans like me get to see Angel on the big screen!

-TRACIE, I've never seen "Wonderfalls" or any of your movies, but I saw you and heard you in the trailer and you're just wonderful! I can't wait to see you as Joanne!

Well, I think I'm done... I'm running out of adjectives! This is going to be an awesome movie!

Hey everyone! I just joined here because like a month ago I saw the trailer and I was so excited to see it. I've always been a musical theatre fan and when I was younger I heard how popular Rent was, so I'm so excited it's going to be a movie. I can't wait!

Hey! Just want to give props again to the whole cast and crew! You guys rock to the extreme!

I also wanted to say that I've read Taye's blog, and I have seen the trailer a ridiculous amount of times. HE'S RIGHT IDINA! YOUR ARMS DO NOT LOOK FAT!!! THEY DO NOT! Just thought you should know that! You and the whole cast look spectacular! Awesome trailer!

I also wanted to say that the first post that I made says it was written by "Lisa"... I'm not Lisa!(at least the last time I checked *ponder*)

Lots of love and congrats! Counting the days 'till the movie opens.
