I have a question. I know that the show on April 24th is a benefit and thats part of why the tickets are so expensive, but 1)i dont understand why thiss show has to be a benefit and 2) if you must make it a benefit can you atleast give us our own show at regular price? 3) if you cant do that even though that would be so great can you put a taped version of april 24ths show on the RENT dvd when it comes out? I know I speak for all RENT fans out there when I say this.

I too agree that this is a bit unfair. If there is are people who unable due to not even living in the country, it makes it brutally unfair. Perhaps it would be better to have 525,600 tickets given out to premieres throughout the country. Perhaps, one of those would be in NY, one in Sante Fe, on in San Francisco, I dunno. Anybody have any other thoughts?

My best friend and I are going to be in NYC that day, and we are so gonna go! The cast of the movie is going to be on the Today Show, and performing in Bryant Park. Our day is going to be so full of Rent, it's gonna be great!

Guys, Rent is first and foremost a Broadway show. Not only did it originate in New York, but the show itself takes place here as well. I understand that many non-New Yorkers have seen touring productions, and even more have listened to and fallen in love with the soundtrack, but that doesn't mean that it's the responsibility of those involved to hold this contest, or whatever it is, throughout the country. Logistically speaking, they probably want everything to be centralized, and if there's only going to be one contest, New York is the obvious place to have it. In addition, while there are Rent fans outside of New York, the largest concentration of them is in the city, simply because Broadway shows are most accessible there. I understand that people are disappointed that they can't take part, but the way they've set it up will satisfy the largest number of people possible while still staying in one location.

That being said, I doubt I'll be entering, since I'm going to Bryant Park and maybe the Today show on August 4th and I probably won't have time. Good luck to everyone who enters, though.

to be honest...i think itsquite a lame prize for such a great show, an advance screening for two people! all the effort to see an advance screening surley the person who wins after all thoose weeks of voting etc and proving there the biggest fans should get the oppertunity all expenses to the world premiere!??? or is it just me? im sure the fatcats at sony pictures can afford at least that to happen after all the are expecting us rent fans to pour our money into their wallets!

There should definitely be somewhere to send tapes to if you can't make it. I'm a leading role in a play and August 4th is the day we open. It's not fair to people who don't live nearby or can't go to have it only be live on one day.

My Personal Suggestion: Have this contest in other places too! Too many RENTheads to gather all in one place and provide a fair shot to real fans! And if we did all come, it would be like the pope funeral! So, I would recommend doing this in MAJOR CITIES, eg San Francisco, Los Angeles, Orlando, Chicago, Seattle, Las Vegas, Dallas, etc., RENTheads are everywhere. I have seen the show over fifty times, have a plan of seeing the movie a equal share of times to generate local media (in contact with local newspaper), and live in California. I'm sure other people are in the same boat. I would think that by filming in multiple locations and seeing fans flock to shoots that this idea was already tossed around. Toss it around more please. Thank you.

I cannot believe that this contest is in 9 more days. I was just up there this past week and just returned home to Florida last nite. If only I stayed there another week :( Oh well, I guess I can wait til November.

It is completely unfair for those of us who live completely on the other side of the country. WASHINGTON STATE. That would be 5 days or more of driving. And I don't have a car!!!

im DEFINITELY going to be there. i live in the metro area..not manhattan, queens. so i can make it. i was going to go in anyway that day. i dont know if im going to be interviewed, but im going to go check it out. who knows? it would be AMAZING to win those screening passes. ive been dying to see this movie ever since i heard it first came out. im a renthead & will always be one. one of these days im going down to avenue a, b etc. to see where they really lived.

Although I am totally bummed about not being able to go, I can see why this is happening. No matter if the contest was in every states capitol in the US people would still complain and ask for more. This is supposed to be a fun thing and we are just complaining about it. I am glad that the Rent people are givng us a chance period to win something cool. I'm on the idea that this isnt fair... I mean I was there in London for the last show with the orginal cast.. I mean I would love to go to new york and do the video, but a 7 hour flight is a little too hard to do

All of you need to stop saying this isn't fair. It is a one-time event that people who are lucky enough to be near NY are going to to prove they are big fans. That doesn't mean they are actually the biggest fans! If you don't think they're big fans, DON'T VOTE FOR THEM! It's as simple as that. This is supposed to be fun, so please stop saying it's not fair and telling us why you can't make it. I'm sure everyone at RENT is sorry, but you shouldn't make the people who came up with this feel bad just because you're busy. You will all get to see it eventually, it just takes patience. Fairness doesn't even enter into it. The screening is probably in New York, so it makes sense to have the contest for people who will actually be able to go to it. Would you really be able to fly to NY just to see a movie, even one as awesome as "Rent"? If that's where the screening is, then that's where the contest should be. The end.

I just wish there was something for those of us who aren't in (aka can't afford to live in) the city right now. I know I wouldn't fly to NYC to attempt to win something, but I would be on a plane in seconds if I had already won. With that said, why not let people submit their own video entries and select a few of those to put up on the website as well? That way everyone really would have a chance.

I love RENT. It is literally my life. I may be just 14, and have only really discovered it for only a year now and I am still amazed by Jonathan Larson's(RIP) work. I own a book about RENT and have read it back to cover I have seen the show twice(though I wish I could see it more, but I can't afford to go as often as I like and I can't win the lottery all the time. I have gotten my playbill, book, and shirt(partially) signed by and have taken pictures with the recent cast(who are simply amazing). I know the order of songs without looking and I spoke to the original bassist for a few minutes after one show. Steve Mack you are cool to the nth degree. I aspire to be in the musical and hope and pray that it will still be going strong the year of my 20th birthday. I cannot even really express how much the show has taught me and how much I have learned from Jonathan Larson and the amazing cast(s); how they're voices shine through everything that's in their way and how they stand for what they believe is right and find their way eventually. I hope to be as talented as they are and I will keep on dreaming until my dreams become my reality. I would live in the East Village like they did to show my true appreciation because it cannot be said in mere words. When I heard there was going to be a movie in November I freaked and started checking out the premiere dates; any information in order to see this movie and possibly meet the original cast. This oppurtunity means so much to me that when I saw it I cried and wanted to kill myself from happiness. If any of the cast reads this message I would love for them to know that even if I do not win this contest I will keep trying to get a chance to meet them just for a day; to take pictures, for them to sign...anything. Even just to talk would be my cup of tea. Jesse, you were spectacular in the Tony's and I will always love you as detective Ed Green in Law and Order. Wilson, you are so cool. that is really awesome that they are doing this....but I won't be able to make it....first I live like at least 6 hours away :-( :-( :-( and we are going up the 19th so its not like i could beg my mom. this sucks. I wish i could see the cast ugh it would truly be amazing and not to mention its 3 days before i birthday

Best of luck to all those who will go down to Rock Center to be taped and express your love for the show. I'm po'd right now because of the studio/production company/director changed the movie's opening date. I bought a plane ticket to go see the movie w/friends in Seattle for 11-11 and now the movie won't be in general release until 11-23. I see $$ signs in the change, someone wants to create a buzz/spin and capitalize on the turkey day crowd.

i am so upset i missed the show this morning because of a meeting. is it anywhere online?

I was wondering if there is a screen saver with the same cast as in the move.

i would totally win that contest, but i live all the way in texas! there is no way i could go to New York (my most favorite place in the world) and prove that i am the ultimate RENThead. it is too expensive! can you think of contests that people can participate in for each state? also, are there going to be any contests for the premiere? please say yes!
