This is coming from an actor's point of view not just your average "blue haired" theater goer. I never got to see the original cast on B'way and even tho your not an original...by the trailer alone, you're gonna ROCK this performance!!! The story of how you came to get this role is just awesome and inspiring and you MUST be feeling the magic as you perform. For you to be such a fan of the original cast and then get to actually sing and perform with them must be just unbelievable. I'm sure November 11th, 2005 can't come quick enough for you. I was so disappointed that I, being 7 years old, missed the cast appearing in magazines and on talk shows when RENT just came out on Broadway, but now I get a second chance (and it's even better 'cause I know of their talent/hotness and can't wait for the masses to know also!!!)

I've only been following this blog for a few weeks, but I had to post a quick comment. This entry had me cracking up. :D I can't claim to be the biggest fan ever, but I've seen the show (off Broadway, by my college) and have owned the soundtrack for several years. I still get choked up every now and then while listening to it, when I'm in the right mood. Anyway, I'm so excited to be able to see how the movie is coming along, and especially to be able to hear from the cast about how THEY feel it's coming. I can't say enough how excited I am to see this movie. I might have to go watch the trailer again, for, probably, the eleventh time.

hey guys! I'm an Aussie that has indeed been to New York, unfortunatley I didn't see Rent...but I saw Wicked and the people I saw it with cried in Defying Gravity and the whole 2nd act! When we arrived back in Australia I started obssessing about Wicked,you know, looking up stuff about the cast on the net. I soon discovered Idina Menzel(the leading lady in Wicked) was in the original cast of Rent, so I started looking stuff up on that! Recently I found out that Rent was going to be made into a movie and I was butterflies in my tummy excited and still am. I'm trying to find more information about the movie everyday and ofcourse watch the RENT trailer atleast once a day!Tracie I can tell is enjoying every second of the RENT experience. Rosario is a wonderful actress and I am convinced she will play the part of Mimi very well. Adam,Jesse,Anthony,Wilson,Idina Menzel and Taye Diggs(which make an extremely lovely couple and must I say good luck to them both with their other movies coming out this year,Cake and Ask the Dust) who all have obvious natural talent will really bring this movie together beautifully. On November 11th you won't have to keep on guessing...how to measure a year!

Up until a couple years ago I probably couldn't have told you what broadway even really was, but one of my best friends introduced me to it and in a big way. It wasn't until I went to NYC and saw it on Broadway last year that I realized just how amazing Rent is, it has changed my life. I'm now so obsessed with Rent and with the possibility of me moving to L.I. I will probably go to see Rent every chance I get, it's so worth it. I'm definitely getting opening night tickets for 11/11/05!!!! .. I also have the site open constantly that has the minute countdown. 205K to go!

I saw RENT on Feb 14 2004 and it CHANGED MY LIFE ! It was the perfect Valentines day! I spent time with my first love, plays! I fell in love with RENT that night, i listen to the soundtrack EVERY DAY ! I am even listening to it now ! On my cell all my ring tones are RENT because EVERYTHING IS RENT !

Saw rent in Boston in 97 I think? I bought the CD's the week after and a week after that had the whole thing memorized. I still sometimes cry when listening to the CD's. It's all about love, pure and simple. Anyway, can't wait to see this movie, and then again, and then again, and then again.

omigod, i bought this magazine today. I had no clue this picture was inside. I had bought the magazine for my plane ride home from Mexico. So I'm flipping through the magazine on the plane, and I come to this picture.

Me: OMIGOD, OMIGOD! OMIGOOOOOOOOOOOD!!!

I started screaming at the TOP of my lungs. My friend had to tell me to shut up a lot. ^_^ i couldn't help it

I just saw the trailer for RENT and I am practically dying.....IM OBSESSED!!! I have been listening to the soundtrack since i was very little and now i have memorized EVERY SINGLE lyric and word in the entire play. I just think its absolutly amazing. When I found out they were making it into a movie i screamed for litterally 20 minutes. Im also a wicked fanatic. Yeah...and also everytime i listen to "Goodbye Love" and "One song glory" i cry really hard. Anybody who doesnt own the soundtrack need to get it...IMMEDIATLY

When I was pregnant with my daughter, Chicago came out three days before she was born. And now my second-favourite Broadway musical (next to Wicked - of course) comes out three days before my son is due!!!

I love Idina!!! Can't wait!!

Stunning marketing campaign so far! I really cannot wait to see what advertisements you invent! Here are some I thought of (I would make them but I really do not have paint shop pro or anything)

The Mark poster/ cameraman

The poster would be massive, plain and black. Then in the left corner, there would be a picture of Mark fixing his camera. The camera would face diagonally upwards, so that the lens faced the top right corner.
Out of the lens there would a burst of light where several pictures would be blurred together to form the essence of Rent. Pictures of LVB, Mimi and Roger, TMOLM etc. Along the bottom, next to Mark, the words 'Rent - coming this fall' would be seen. Diagonally across the left top corner, the words 'Mark' in red.

The Roger poster

This poster would have a slightly torn and dirty effect to it round the edges, reminiscent of dark bars, stage floors etc. Roger would be in the bottom left corner, tuning his guitar, his head down.
Behind him there would be several pictures pasted up on the 'wall' which was created as a background, representing the posters and 'screenplays' Mark and Roger had put up on the walls of their apartment loft. Some pictures would be dogeared, torn in half etc, and the pictures would be showing Rent screen caps. Scrawled on a piece of paper on the top left corner would be 'Roger' in black caps, and along the bottom, 'Rent'. Everything would have the effect of a real wall with stuff stuck onto it.

The SOL poster

Along the bottom, there would a line of the main characters singing SOL below spotlights. Lyrics would be printed in the background, slightly faded so that they are not the main attraction of the poster.
Above the line of people, there would a eight block square (similar to the OBC cover). In each block there would be significant picture to represent each moment in the RENT life - Collins putting roses on Angel's grave, Mimi and Roger lighting a candle, Mark with his camera, Maureen and Joanne kissing, Roger singing OSG, The Tango Maureen etc.
Along the top border, 'RENT' in massive letters.

What can I say - I'm a Renthead.

First of all, I absolutely love the picture! You all look amazing, and with every bit of publicity that the movie gets, my excitement grows! I saw 'RENT' the musical for the first time in January, and it absolutely changed my life. I have seen it 6 times since then, and I cannot wait for the movie. You guys are awesome!

i am beyond excited to see Rent!! I bought the soundtrack years ago and just listened to it over and over again! but i never got to see it on Broadway until last year! Even though it wasn't the OBC, i was still so excited!!! i am freaked out thinking that there's going to be no more magazines left for me!! i have to have it NOW!!!

Saw the original Broadway production and then saw the traveling show a few times. My entire family is addicted to the music. What a fantastic way to bring this emotionally charged story to audiences across America!! I for one will be the first to purchase the DVD when it comes out and will definitely have to rent the entire theatre for all my friends!!

I took my mother to see a movie today and When i heard the season's of love chime through the theatre I nearly dropped my hot dog to the floor from excitment! I saw the play for the first time just after highschool back in 2000 and It left such an impression on me that I even went to audtion for the play because I so badly wanted to be in it! The messages of this movie are so classicly simple. LOVE, No REGRET, No Fear! Its FANATISTIC! Jonathan Larson created a story that LEft imprints on lives. This movie will be magic, this cast I saw and instantly knew that my all time favorite play would be done in justice!

i went out and bought the EW as soon as i heard "rent" was featured.
i'm 16 and was first exposed to "rent" at my performing arts camp three years ago. i saw the show and it changed my life.....it completely altered my perspective on musical theater. no longer was it simply a form of simple self-expression or entertainment-- it was a way of REACHING OUT TO PEOPLE. it was a way of life.
since then, i've really begun to idolize idina menzel and have studied her career intensely. i hope to model my own after her bold choices in roles. i can only hope to one day be as good as she is.

I visited NYC for the first time last week. I've been a Renthead from the second I heard the first notes being plucked on Roger's guitar. But being in NYC just gave the whole show a new perspective for me. It made it so much more real and amazing. I saw the Rent trailer tonight in front of Bewitched (I'd already seen it a thousand times on the internet, and by the way, Tracie- everytime I hear you sing Seasons of Love I swear I forget to breathe) --and I flipped out. I literally let out the biggest screech and the entire theater was silent... The days go by too slowly when you are waiting for something as extraordinary as this movie. Wow... that is all that I can even mutter at the moment... I was so surprised when I saw the trailer in theaters it literally took my breath away! (I cried) I cannot wait to see it in theaters! This is definately going to be one of those movies that I obsess over-Im even thinking of auditioning for the musical now... Im also very pleased that they cast Idina Menzel in the role that she brought to life on stage. Yay!

I loved getting my EW in the mail and turning the page to see the entire cast of RENT to fill an entire page! I was so excited and ecastatic that I almost had a heart attack! ;) It's now framed up in my room and I can't wait... I hope there more to come!

Rent started the broadway obsession for me. The way Idina played the role years ago left everyone breathless....and in wicked (3 times) left everyone crying!! My heart is a flutter! HAHAH! I LOVE IT! This show I think will start a huge revolution about how people feel about broadway. I live in Alabama and it is hard for people to accept that I am in to broadway and them not think that I am gay. (not that it matters) So with this INCREDIBLE show and it's amazing Broadway-Rock feel, I think it will be accepted by anyone with taste in music. (even alabamians) I think this blog is great!
