I'm glad you are having fun filming this movie and I just want to let you know that my friends and I are already planning on Skipping school that day to go see the movie!!! and we are going to see the show in august in NY which should be sooo fun! I dont think we have to worry about this movie being a hit. This movie is going to bigger than any movie musical ever! I cried watching the trailer too! It is so good to be able to see the original cast since i was a little to young to see it when the broadway show opened.

After seeing the trailer about 2 weeks ago, I have to agree that just the look of the film, plus the cast looked SHARP. I know people always talked about the 20 somethings now being 30 something, but who cares. I believe these actors are so committed to the parts they materialized on stage and in the workshop, that is still shows as much 9 years later as it did on that day Jonathan died and the show opened.

Boy we can't wait till this comes out!

I am so ultra thrilled to see this come to life. I really hope that people will welcome it and not be frightened away from a new chapter in this beautiful story.

i share in the excitement taye, i saw all of you minus 2....that first week you ran previews.....almost 10 years ago....and then again 2 more times in the following month....for 10 years i have avoided seeing anyone else do the show to preserve the memories of 1996.....its time to see RENT in a whole new light....best of luck these last few weeks in shooting.

I'm so excited to see all of you together on screen this fall! My friends and I have been picturing this movie in our heads since we first saw the musical 8 years ago and it is so thrilling to finally see it happen. I remember hearing some casting rumors when the thought of a RENT movie first popped up that almost broke my heart. No way could this movie have been as incredible as I'm sure it will be without you original cast members. You alone can bring Johnathon Larson's vision to the big screen. Idina, I am one of your biggest fans. You are the most talented broadway stars I have ever seen. Wicked has been in my CD player for months now and everytime I listen to "Defying Gravity", I feel stronger than I felt 5 minutes before. All of you are incredible and I will be standing in line the day this movie opens! Congratulations!

I get chills whenever I watch the trailer, so don't worry about getting emotional. It's all good.

I can't wait to see the movie! I have to find someone to go with, bleh, I'll go by meyself.

I remember seeing the last minute of the trailer on Access Hollywood and I ran into my sister's room yelling "Go to channel seven! NOW!!!" I then looked online for a good hour or two and then once I watched it over and over! It was awesome!
Oh and Idina looked great in the trailer! So is in no way, shape or form fat! BUt you may be right that she's crazy to think so!

As are you! You have such eloquence and I hear it more and more each time I listen to my Rent soundtrack. This movie will catapult you all into the stratosphere that you all rightfully deserve to be in.

I'm so glad that the movie is staying true to all of the messages and that it's all of you OBCers doing it. Any other way would have lost touch with the true voice. And besides, NO one beats you guys :).

I am soooo excited this movie is coming out! My friend told me the trailer came out on AOL and I screamed at the top of my lungs! I ran to my computer and had the biggest smile on my face while watching it. I was like a little kid watching it! I literally curled up into a little ball while watching it because I was so excited. I'm definitely going to go see it at midnight here in Orlando. I'm making all of my fellow thespian buddies who just graduated with me go see it with me. I'm a huge fan, have been for 6 years, and I cried when I watched the trailer. This movie is going to be AMAZING.

BTW, Idina is GORGEOUS, but apparently her mental functions are not quite where they should be if she thinks her arms look fat.

you can't imagine the excitement that my friends and I have about the movie. Rent began my love of musical theatre, and now I'm going off to be a voice major ( I can't help but think Rent had a small influence on this). Tell Idina that I saw her in Wicked and she is truly one of the most gorgeous performers I have ever seen. You two are one of the most beautiful couples in the public eye, and I only wish you the best. My dream is to perform, and I hope that someday our paths may cross.

Hey. I miss everyone and I am so glad to see the wonderful work being done on this film. as mnay poeple here, RENT will always be one of the most influential and important forces in my life. The message is so powerful. This film is truly full circle and seeing everyone together again (or the love of on a more perosnal level- such as I dina and Taye) reminds us of the love we have within us to give and receive. I don't usually write notes like this- i think they are too sappy, but i too measure my life in love and that means spreading some where I can. Cheers to all of you... and *ahem* Idina, you are one of the most beautiful women to ever grace the stage. I cannot believe that you are worrying about your arms. Look at yourself, look at your man, and just know that all is good.

Actually here's something- With a couple weeks of shooting to go, can we get Yaz and Kristen into some small parts so that they can be a part of the celluloid? I think they deserve to be. Even Byron, Gwen, Mark, Darius, Marcy. Even if only for the smallest shot. They are some of the people that made this show come alive. While I don't think they would receive much in the way of actual roles at this point... boy it would be nice to find a way to have them included for posterity. There's so much history in RENT to be celebrated, and this is the one chance to celebrate as much as possible.

I think I've said this about 5 times already in the others' posts, but I'm so glad that you're doing this movie! As if I wasn't already excited enough about Rent being made into a movie, the OBC being cast and having a say in it was just beyond my expectations, because I knew you guys would make sure it was done right. And ALL of you look amazing in the trailer; none of you look like you've aged a day in 9 years. Someone up there must be pulling strings for ya! ;)

Just to let you know, I'm currently a student at SU and you're up there with Dick Clark as one of our favorite alumni. And you can be sure I'll be dragging everyone through the ice and snow to the Carousel Center next November to see this movie!

The trailer is so damned awesome, although I never saw the original cast production I saw a performance in D.C. back in '97 (oh God, that doesn't LOOK like that long ago but I wasn't even twenty yet and now I'm pushing thirty!) and managed to get my roommate hooked just from the CDs. We are SO going to be first in line when the movie opens in Tallahassee!

I have seen the trailer and it gave me goosebumps. I saw the show in Sydney many many times all thoes years back, I work in the cinema industry and I am educating a whole new generation to the 'RENT' magic. Im talking up the release which I have been informed by Columbia in Sydney wont be till Feb 16th 2006. A wonderful wait regardless. Counting the days....

And I just want to say that I'm glad I'm not the only one with insecurities about my arms. I worry too that my arms look fat. But people tell me they're not. I still feel like they are, but that's my own insecurity. They probably aren't, really. And Idina, yours aren't at all, even though you may think it, they're not! Great post! I love the trailer, I cried the first time I saw it. I live in Chicago and haven't had the chance to see the actual show so I am so excited for the movie. I am going to New York in the fall to look at NYU as a possible college and I think I will go the week of the premiere! I am so happy you are enjoying making the movie. Ive been such a rent fan for a long time and seeing this entire site and the trailer made me nearly pee my pants. My choir (who was a family to me)did a huge Rent medley for our pop show which is something we will never forget.Leaving them has been the hardest thing i have ever had to do (as most of us just graduated). But now we are all planning to come together at christmas and see the show all together.Not only will this movie provide entertainment but it will touch, inspire and bring old freinds back together...how much more could one ask for froma movie?

Wow...this is amazing. Whenever I watch the trailer for the movie, I am just so overwhelmed. It's really a dream come true. I've never seen the show and only know the basics of the story. I've been in love with Rent ever since my music theater obssessed friend introduced me to it. It's really touching to hear from all you actors who are working your butts off. I can't believe that Idina think she's fat (or any part of her is). She's absolutely beautiful! And she is so talented. Looking forward to seeing it on the big screen. It's one of my favourite musicals and I never get tired of the songs. My little sister never got to see it on the stage here in Toronto so now she'll finally get to see what she's been singing along to for years.

The trailer is amazing. I get chills every time I see it (and I've watched it many times, I must admit). Everyone looks amazing and I am so excited to see the movie. The musical has made a difference in a lot of lives, and I truly believe the movie will do even more.

I am so glad that most of the OBC is going to be in the movie. It's really weird: I've just recently lost all my hearing as a result (they think) of chicken pox - October 5th, 2004 was when I woke up to discover I was completely and profoundly deaf (after hearing normally for 35 years) Last week, I was going through the music of "Rent" in my head while at work, wishing there was some video of the musical that would help 'cue' me - although listening to it in my head can be very rewarding, albeit a bit annoying to those around me. Anyhoo - not 2 days after I emailed someone "I would give more than anything to be able to listen to 'Rent' right now" I found the trailer on the internet. I am going to be receiving the cochlear implant this August - I told my doc that they have to have that S.O.B. tuned and ready for me to hear the music in the movie this November - hearing or no hearing.... I've seen the trailer about a hundred times, it touches me so much. And I've never seen the show! Seasons of Love is a new favorite song of mine that I think will forever stay in my heart. It makes me realize that life is special, whether measured in inches, miles, laughter, strife, or five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutes per year.

Making Rent into a movie will allow it to be viewed by the masses. Not everyone can see a Broadway musical, but it is far easier to see a movie. I'm completely hyped about the movie and the cast just gives me jitters, I don't think it could have been better chosen.

In response to your note about Larson's voice being carried farther I wanted to say this:
You all are amazing for doing this again and bringing the beautiful message that Rent carries to the world wide audience. Larson created something that I think has helped so many people look at AIDS, death, homosexuality,love, friendship and life in amazing new ways and hopefully has helped people become more accepting of some of the more controversial issues that the show deals with. I have always wished that Rent's voice could be carried to people who are not necesarrily able to access the theater or whome are not particularly interested in it. I think this film will accomplish that and I hope it will have a much needed impact in these scary times when it seems that the world is so divided and so many people so closeminded to many of these issues. Thank you to the original cast for taking this time to help this happen and ensure that the show as kept intact and beautiful to reach those who have not yet been blessed with it in their lives. You guys are amazing and I love you for doing this.

I love, love, love that there is a blog for the cast of Rent to keep all of us "true believers" entertained and entranced. And, just for the record, Idina looks fantastic. Rent is something that has been with me since the dawn at the NY theatre workshop! I remember rumors of the show and my brother sneaking me into the city against parental will to see if it was true...then, I finally saw it and was hooked. There isnt a single aspect of this show that hasnt touched or affected my life in so many ways; from coming out of the closet, coping with a close friend that passed from HIV complications and then learning how to live and appreciate close friends as family. This show has indeed touched my life as well as many lives both nation and world-wide.

When it was rumored that the original cast was regrouping for an actual film-version, I was shocked. It was just so surreal! Then, the dawn of the website and actually reading the blogs of the cast members just bring back so many memories!!! I think the last time I was so excited about something was when Justin Rodriguez (my best friend since 8 years old!) played Angel in the first non-equity tour of Rent or when Carey Sheilds played the role of Roger. Regardless, no cast beats the original that Jonathan had envisioned...

To the Cast: Thanks so much for tolerating us rentheads that have followed this show from birth till now (I have seen the show too many to count!). And lastly, in response to your blog, Taye: This show being what it is, is now going to be available to touch the lives of each and every person who has not been able to see the live production. Every individual will be able to see, live and feel Jonathon's envisions and creations; touch them emotionally the way it has touched everyone, including the cast members. Now that it is on the big screen, it is and will be etched into history for generations to come: Viva La Vie Boheme!

I'm still in shock by the fact that one of my favorite musicals is being made into a movie musical. I used to joke with my friends telling them that it would be sweet to have Rent become a movie, so I could watch it whenever I wanted. Not just the fact that it's a movie, but most of the original cast is in it, I can't wait till novemeber 11th!! My friends and I were going to see it December 24 9:00 pm est, but we will now see it November 11th 9:00 pm est. Doesn't have the same effect, but oh well. Oh, Idina arms do not look fat!

This is just a general comment on the cast of Rent taking the time out of their horrendous schedules to post updates on the filming of the movie. I'd just like to say that's really frickin' cool of you all to do that and I absolutely can't wait for the movie in November. Hurry up and be done, summer-uh! Well, I'd like you to know how great inspiration this movie is for me. I got casted this May to play Benny in the Bolivian Version of RENT. Rehearsals are going really well and we're all following the movie day by day. Can't wait to see it!
Well, hopefully you'll read this and will gime me some advice on tips about Benny and the way you feel the character.

I just saw the trailer, and.....wow! Just gorgeous, gave me chills. It kind of moved me ya know. I have to say I am so excited to see the movie. I don't think I have ever been this excited befor! I saw the play about a month after it opened on Broadway when I was nine, and I loved it. Everyone kept telling my mom I was to young, but she knew I was mature enough to handle it. I was the only kid in the audience, but I loved it. Seeing Rent was a very profound experience to me because it taught me many lessons and it made me want to become a better person. Also Mimi is definitly one of my dream roles, and Elphaba. Speaking of Elphaba I can't believe Idina thinks her arms are fat. If she thinks her arms are fat I have a couple things to worry about! Tell her I think she looks gorgeous just like the whole trailer! xoxo Hannah

I have feared that the true RENT would not be able to be put on the big screen without loosing the intensity and sheer awe of the stage, so I was happy to hear that Jonathan is with us proven by the dedication and love of his family (both bio and choosen). There is no greater gift then the chance to live on teaching, loving and growing.

Wow.... can't wait till rent comes to the theaters, i know for a fact that i am going to see it over and over probably 100 times. I wanted to go to LA to see you on the ellen show, but distance was a factor, i'm in Connecticut... and i'm 17 with no job, so.... you make an AWESOME benny. i don't if this is a conicidence or not, but as i sit here typing this my ipod starts playing one rent song after the other and its on shuffle... lol. anywhy I can't wait to see you in rent.

I can't wait until the film is released in November. I've seen the play twice and listened to the cast recording hundreds of times. The play and its music speak to me in ways that I cannot even begin to describe. "Seasons of Love" sends chills down my spine every time I hear it. And the story...what a great tale of hope, ambition, tragedy, friendship and love.

So great to hear an update Taye. :D I've seen the trailer, and it's WOW. Larson would be PROUD.

What happened to Kevin Hill. :( I had no idea what a great show it was until I started watching reruns. (Sorry, Taye I'm a loyal Alias fan...and they had to move it to Wednesdays.) And then to find out that UPN cancelled it. I've signed the petition tooooooo! Should we start a protest in the lot? Well I hope something as extraordinary comes its way for you when you're done filming and promoting RENT.

Having just watched the trailer myself, I can echo your feelings of emotion while watching it. I saw the ad in People and cheered and seeing the trailer got me even more excited. Words cannot describe how thrilled I am that this project is being done--not to mention how unbelievable it is that so many original cast members are involved. I'll be there with bells on (I guess cow bells would be apropos for such a party) 11/11.

I'm so excited that this film is coming along so well because I cannot wait for November 11th! I
ve already got around 20 people in this huge group that we've got going to see it at midnight (if they have a midnight showing, but in Syracuse, NY, its not likley...) or the first showtime on 11/11. Everyone I know is so extremly excited for RENT, and good luck to you and the rest of the cast and crew with filming and editing and all that good stuff. And please tell Idina that her arms are not fat. Seriously, they aren't.

So good to see most of the original Broadway cast is going to be in the film version. I loved you in Chigago the movie. Can't wait to see the film. I have seen the show on Broadway six times, but never with the original cast. The movie will be a treat for me. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it will be a big hit. I saw the trailer in the movie theater a few weeks ago and was amazed by what I saw. It looks so real and I believe true to Jonathan Larson's vision of what RENT is supposed to be. Keep it up. i went to see the movie "the perfect man" with my sister and right when i walked in, i hear "525,600 minutes"... the RENT trailer had just started! i sprinted up to the screen to watch it! it looks amazing! you guys dont look a second older and the music sounds the same as the OBC album!! tell idina that she is one of the most beautiful women in the WORLD! how could she say her arms are fat?? if you can look gorgeous green... you can look gorgeous no matter what! you two are my all time favorite couple!! yall are sooooo cute! i love you all! congrats! i already know the movie is going to be amazing! im skipping school november 11 is it?? ill be the first one in line!!

I mean, obviously you worked on it, so it's a little different, but I love RENT so much and it says so much that I just cry everytime I watch it (which has been about 983742835965923659765293589235 times) Yes, I am a super RENT geek, but whatever, I think it's mad cool. Just wanted you to know that tonight I got to see the RENT trailer for the first time in the theater. WOW.... It is going to be so amazing.
I saw RENT the 2nd night on Broadway, and it would be hard to believe you all could be any better! Looking forward to RENT on DVD, so I can replay my favorite parts over and over.
Just a note, I saw WICKED during the 2nd week it opened, Idina and Kristen were incredible. It was so good, I went back to see it a 2nd time while you were filling in as Fyiero. Truly amazing! Thanks to you both for your hard work... it is so appreciated by fans like me.

First of all the trailer looks so amazing it even inspired me and a group of my friends to remake it for the Sears Festival. Adam you are so hot and you look like the perfect part for roger. My friends and i are every excited to do this movie and i hope we have as much fun as it looked like you guys did. Rosario i am also playing mimi and i promise i wont let you down. Can't wait to see the movie.

I'm so excited to see the movie. I'm seeing the show in August, so it will be interesting to compare the two. Idina, nothing is fat about you. You couldn't be fat even if you tried. I saw the Rent trailer when I went to see Bewitched and I nearly jumped out of my seat I was so excited.

i saw the trailer at the movies over the weekend and was so excited!!! i had no idea they were doing a movie and to see so much of the original cast.. wow!

i saw the show 6 times on broadway and have pictures with castmembers - i had to go dig them out the other day...

wonderful to see "familiar" faces in familiar roles again.. and to know that jonathan's voice still lives..

can't wait for the movie!
