A Huge Blessing by Adam Pascal (Roger)

Adam PascalHello all, sorry it's taken so long for me to post. It has been an incredible experience making a movie with my family here on location. It leaves very little free time. I want to tell everyone that is concerned with the film staying true to the play that I don't think Chris Columbus could have done more to preserve it. As I write to you, I'm flanked by Nan and Julie Larson, Jonathan's mother and sister. They, as well as Al, Jonathan's father, have been here every step of the way, offering overwhelming support and encouragement. Back in the days of the original production, I couldn't help but speculate, if Rent gets made into a movie, what will it be like...what will it look like... I'm sure all of you have thought the same thing many times.

Well, speaking from a biased point of view, it looks better than I ever imagined it could. It's amazing how cinematic this story is, and how it translates seamlessly to the screen. It is a true, honest translation of the show, but heightened to the nth degree! It's a huge blessing to be able to, almost 10 years later, come back and revisit this story, this character and this music, being the man I have become and not the boy that I was. I know over the years there have been many actors playing all these roles, and you all have your favorites. But I know you will be happy with the cast that has been assembled. We come to this with all the sensitivity, love, humor and respect that it deserves.

I'll be back to write more; I just wanted to make my presence known here on the blog site. I'll try and come up with some stuff to tell you that you have not heard from any other cast members.

So get ready for the amazing experience of Rent on screen!!

Much love
Adam Pascal

Thanks for the post Adam. Most of us RENTheads already know that this is going to be an amazing movie; it's a comfort knowing that the cast is not only dedicated to making this story work as a film, but each one of you really believe it'll will work. Thank you (and the rest of the cast) so much for doing this for all of us (and for Jonathan), no one could do it better... God Bless

Glad to hear from you Adam! I can't wait until the movie comes out.. I'm sure it's going to be great. It has to be. =D

Saw the advert today and it blew me away! I certainly get the feeling that the story translates as well to film as it does to theatre. I cried at the trailer alone! What hope do I have of making it through the film? Mind you Rent has always had that effect on me so...

Good luck with the rest of the shoot. Glad to see you joined the party.

Keep happy...

Hi Adam!
From what I've seen (the trailer and access hollywood) the movie looks AMAZING!

And on another note I just wanted to thank you and the rest of the cast for carrying this show through. To be honest I was afraid that the movie wouldn't capture the spirit of the show, but from the stories I've heard, it definatly is!

Once again (for all of the rent-heads out there) thank you and the rest of the cast, you guys are unbelievable!

Posted by: Meg on 06/08/05 at 03:30 PM

It was wonderful hearing from you Adam, hope you have a chance to post more.

Its a great feeling knowing that the original cast is in this film, reprising the roles that started their careers.

It wouldn't be the same if it wasn't you tuning the Fender and singing Glory.

Hope you are having fun :)

Posted by: Di on 06/08/05 at 03:33 PM

Thank you SO much for posting! It's nice to hear how well everything is going, and that most of the original story is being kept. I'm so excited to see this movie, especially since I was too young to see the original cast. Thank you again for updating and hope to hear more from you soon!

I'm so happy that you posted. When I saw your entry, I literally jumped up in my seat and screamed like a preteen girl at her first Backstreet Boys concert.

Mr. Pascal...Adam,
I just watched the trailer for about the 127th time. It's amazing. I just really want to tell you how much this movie means to me. I've never had the chance to see Rent on the stage and this movie is just a dream come true for me. Although my ultimate goal is to go down to New York and see it someday, this will be just heavenly. Especially because of all the hard work and dedication that the cast is so obviously showing. I'm so excited that it is most of the original cast. I can't wait for this movie. I'm sure it will be a life-changing, spectacular, work of art. All my love, all the best, and thank you.

Thanks so much for keeping us updated! I'm so glad to hear that the film is staying true to the show and I am BEYOND excited for it to come out! I'm addicted to watching the trailer online and I cry everytime I watch it. I don't know how I'm going to get through the movie without dying of happiness or something! Haha.

Thanks again for posting! I'm so glad you're playing Roger in the movie. You're amazing!

I can't wait to hear you perform "Glory" again. Look forward to hearing from you again soon. (I love the new hairstyle. It fits you well.)

Adam,
Wow. Thanks for posting. I've heard a lot of different Rogers in Rent and you have always been my favorite, and I was thrilled to see that you were in the movie. And then I was thrilled to see that you finally wrote in your blog! I loved you in Rent and Aida, and I like your solo CD's too! And I even once gave a speech about you for English class. I can't believe I'm actually telling you that, but yes I did. I'm a little embarrassed now. Oh well, I just wanted you to get an idea of how incredible of a performer I think that you are. Thank you for writing in your blog, and I can't WAIT for the movie! (Yeah, I'm still embarrassed. Forget the whole speech thing...)

hey adam, i think this RENT blog is amazing! i probably dont have to tell you that im excited for this movie because, fortunately, 10,000 others have saved me the trouble. my friends and i have already booked november 11th and dedicated it to RENT, and trust me, we are going to the movies in STYLE. ...were kinda dressing up as the cast considering its our favorite musical. of course, im maureen, my dream role, and my other theatre buds will be there as angel, mark, roger, joanne, mimi, and benny. yeah, i guess this qualifies us as the "theatre nerds" of our town, but really, how can you not be excited for this film?
i saw rent (not orignial cast) for my birthday earlier this year and it was amazing. so i say to myself: this movie is ORIGINAL CAST, huzzah!! its gonna be incredible!
anyways, my friends and i are all part of a youth theatre which is AMAZING situated in MA. however, we were just evicted from our building earlier this year because, well, we couldnt pay the Rent (ironic? i think so). so now i dont have a life... because, um, theatre IS my life. my friends and i keep protesting our hearts outs, whether its on the streets or in the newspapers (trust me, we are VERY popular protesters in our newspapers). sorry, im rambling, and that actually has nothing to do with any of these comments. but ill speak my mind and NOTHING can stop me (this is another reason why im maureen out of all my friends ;-).
well anyways, ill stop wasting your time, you probably want to sleep or something after all those hard days of shooting. plus getting home only to read all these comments must be hell for you.
love the new hair :-)

Seeing this whole thing take place and watching it happen with pictures online and all of the cast's support has been a blessing for all of us "rentheads" i know that you cannot respond to all of us but i just wanted to let you know that all of you are in our prayers and thank you so much for making a fantastic movie for us to enjoy forever. This is what we all have been praying for since the first time rent has effected us and thank you so much for doing it!

May you continue to become a bigger and brighter star than you already are.

Thanks for posting Adam...no matter how many Rogers there are, you'll always be my favorite. You and the rest of the cast have so much faith in the production which makes us as fans feel so much more comfortable with the idea of this movie. The trailer is nothing short of phenomenal and I can't wait to see you and the rest of the cast on the big screen. This movie means so much more to me than I ever dreamed it could and it means even more to know that all of you as a cast are putting so much into it. Thank you for everything.

Just wanted to say what a blessing it is to see so much of the original cast back for the movie. I think that's the only way to do justice to the play.

Can't wait til November!

Posted by: Angela on 06/08/05 at 04:48 PM

It's hard not to think an actor is simply being bias or covering his own ass when he praises the work the director is doing on a particular movie, but I hold Chris in high regards as a director who is always dedicated to preserving his projects nicely, so I'll take your side on this one, Adam. Some people didn't believe Chris was the right director for this movie, but in my opinion, he's one of the better directors when it comes to staying true to a story (i.e. Harry Potter). That's a reassuring declaration, if I do say so myself.

Obviously no one can fault you, specifically, for never updating on this blog because a majority of the cast as yet to do so as well. But it is good to finally hear (um... read...) from you. And though it's true each person visiting this site has a different actor they favor in each RENT role, I doubt anyone here would ever dispute this cast (even an extremely self-proclaimed fan of Cary Shields or Matt Caplan, or Jeremy Kushnier, etc. would never be able to dismiss the return of the OBC, I imagine). We all have it in high hopes that the chemistry and talent once portrayed on stage translates as well onto screen as you believe the story does.

Posted by: Caitlin on 06/08/05 at 04:57 PM

adam. just wanted to thank you, and the other cast members, for taking the little time that you have to fill us in on what's happening on the set. i've been listening to your voice as Roger for almost 10 years now, and now to finally see you and the other OBC on screen is really beyond any words i can type here.

Through Jonathan's words and music YOU have given me and thousands, soon to be millions, of people all over the world a reason to live like there is "no day, but today."

Take care and HAVE FUN!

Hey Adam!

Glad to hear from you, even if it did take you awhile. I'm sure your immensely busy filming. The trailer looks so fantastic and you and Rosario have amazing chemistry together. I'm so excited to see how everything comes out in the end...I just know that it will be amazing!

its been my dream to see YOU as Roger, and I still can't believe its coming true! :) November 11!!

Posted by: Cheryl on 06/08/05 at 05:05 PM

I know the movie will be a partay and a half - what what. The film will be phenominal, no doubt about it, and therefore I am insanely happy to be able to see most of the original cast perform. I shall see you when the film comes out.

Posted by: Mary on 06/08/05 at 05:08 PM

Thank you for writing....you are amazing. It doesn't matter how many casts I see, the original will always be my favorite and the best. As for Rosario, she has been great in every film she has been in and I can't wait to hear her sing. And Tracie, she was outstanding in Wonderfalls (one of my favorite shows) and she sings beautifully in the trailer. I don't think there ever could have been a better cast. You all are the best!!!

The Rent trailer wass the best movie trailer I've seen in my life.

I'm so glad you are playing Roger and that your performance will be preserved forever on film.

It's incredible to know that this is going on, and I cannot wait for the movie. The trailer is beyond words; it gives me chills every single time I watch it (and I've watched it at least a dozen times in the past week or so!). Amazing.

I have faith that all of you will do an amazing job. Good luck filming, and it was great to hear from you, post more often!!

Thank you for everything. You're incredible.

Adam-

Thank you for the wonderful post. I'm so glad to hear that things are going so well. Seeing the trailer made me cry (yes, I admit it :-P)every time I watched it and I can only imagine the experiences you and the rest of the cast and crew had actually filming the movie. And I have to say thanks for sharing some of those experiences with us, the loyal (sometimes crazy) fans. You guys should all be so proud of what you've created. I look foward to reading your next post. Take care and good luck! :-)

Adam

Wow!! From what I've seen so far, the movie looks great. I can't wait to see you in it. Roger is my absolute favorite Rent character. He's so inspiring and great. You play him very well. Thanks for posting. I was waiting and wondering when you would. Thanks a bunch and can't wait for November 11th.

Posted by: Melissa on 06/08/05 at 05:35 PM

gahh...I saw Rent years ago on Broadway, and although I didn't quite understand some of it (being young), it still remains one of my favorite shows, to this day. Considering I live so close to the City (Long Island), I've been meaning to see it againm, but hey! now I don't have to! I can pay $10 to see some of my favorite actors in an awesome movie as opposed to paying $60 to see the play again. Keep up the great work. Roger is such a phenomenal role, and if I were a guy with talent, he would be a dream role. I will definitely be going to the cinema opening night!

(also, just wanted to say that I've practically worn down my AIDA soundtrack from listening to it so often. Your voice just gives me chills, and between you, Sherie Rene Scott and Heather Headley, no wrong can be done, so you get major applause for that too, teehee!)

A loyal fan,
Brittany Stein

You look like a full-blown Hollywood movie star from what I see in the trailer, Adam. ;-) AWESOME to hear from you. You have no idea how enormously excited I was to hear that so much of the OBC was returning for this film. I know you're all working to make the best movie you're able to make, and I'm 100% sure I won't be disappointed with the final product.

Keep on trucking... And I'm loving your CIVILIAN album. Can't get it out of my CD player! Awesome work.

Best wishes and good luck with the remainder of the filming. All of you look sexy hot! Ha!

Mr. Pascal,

It is such an honor to hear from you (and the rest of the cast) about how the film is going.

I would just like to let you know that a few years ago I went to see a musical on Broadway and sometime in the first act I realized that I NEEDED to be a performer. That musical was AIDA and it was partially your performance that gave me this insight.

THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING AND GOOD LUCK WITH THE MOVIE!!!

Hey Adam!
Thanks so much for posting! It's amazing to hear that the film exceeds the expectations of you and the rest of the cast, especially because you all truly know what it means and what it should be. You are so incredible on the original recording and I can't wait to actually see you play this part. Thanks again for writing and caring about the fans- I can't wait to hear more!

Thanks so much for posting! I've been so longing to see you as Roger ever since i saw you in Aida. I LOVED you in that by the way. We went to see it because my cousin, Corinne McFadden, was in it, and i was like, oh my gosh i'm gonna love that guy no matter what hes in. I'm so excited to see you, Idina, Wilson, Jesse, Taye, and Anthony in this movie. The OBC rocks!!!!!!!!

Adam,

First and foremost, thank you so much for taking the time (very limited time I'm sure) to post for us fans to read! I very much enjoy reading about how excited you all are to be making this, and of course it makes me feel even more confident that this movie will be an outstanding piece of work.

I have to admit when I first heard about Rent being translated to film, I had my doubts. I felt much better when I heard that many of the OBC was returning though, and by now I'm just completely ecstatic about the release!

I am a very big fan of your music and other theater performances, and I think I'm most excited to see how much the character of Roger has grown since 1996. I know I won't be disappointed! Thanks once more, and I can't wait to here from you again!

Adam~

Thank you for posting! It's so good to hear that not many things have changed. I've had this feeling since the beginning of the project, that Johnathan is watching over the whole thing, giving his blessing on every detail of the undertaking. To have most of the Original Broadway Cast in the Movie Cast, and to keep the movie as true as possible is not only the work of Chris Columbus, but also the work of the Larson family, the cast members, the crew, and the audience.

You as the cast knew this would be a very big undertaking, and it seems you have made the most out of it. Having worked with Johnathan, he left an impression in the OBC's hearts. That, along with his family being on-site during production, has (at least from what I've interpreted) brought Johnathan back to work with everyone on this. You all know what Johnathan would have wanted if he were there, and so did Chris.

Thank you for keeping Johnathan's legacy living. The song "He Lives in You" from the Lion King has been running through my head this entire time. And it's true. Johnathan has touched the heart of each and every person whom has come in contact with Rent. "He lives in you/he lives in me."

Have a wonderful time, and I wish you the best of luck in all that you do!

God Bless!

Hey long time no see, but you probably don't remember me from your concert, huh? :) Glad to know you're having fun and that everything's going well, you have no idea how excited we all are...oh and I'm supposed to tell you that my friend is going to wear Roger-pants to the movie..Yeah, I know, she's very random...anyway it's great to hear from you, you all are the best for keeping us posted even though you're so busy, I hope you know how much it means to us ^^
Love ya!

Adam,
I was too young to see you in Rent when it first came out, but I did get to see you in Aida and I'm thrilled that I'll finally be seeing you on the silver screen come November.
Much Love, Heather

There will never be another Roger like you, and I am so excited that finally I'll get to watch, live or not.

Posted by: Krissy on 06/08/05 at 08:13 PM

Hey Adam. I have no clue if you will actually read this, but I figured that I would respond anyway. First, thanks for having been so good about chatting and posing for pictures with slightly awe-struck teenage girls all those years ago(raises hand and waves). I cannot explain how incredible this entire thing is to me. I saw you in RENT on Broadway practically every weekend for some time and in London. Although, looking back (as I am now older, and arguably wiser)I see how obsessive this was, I know that I was hardly alone. There is soemthing about RENT that inspired what I like to call "repeat offenders," those of us who went to see the show over and over again. Somehow, it becomes part of you. As I am sure you know, you cannot explain the experience without having witnessed it. Even though it has been years, I look back on it with equal parts nostalgia and chagrin. I cannot count the number of times I have heard; "You were one of those...?"

Yet, I never thought that "someone" had actually been listening to all of us RENTheads gathered outside the Nederlander before a performance talking about ideal casting for the film. Who knew that someone would actually get it right? You were and are apart of something that made RENT such a singular experience in the first place. I applaud Chris Columbus for recognizing that and not taking the safe route and casting Hollywood A-listers. That is not what RENT is about. RENT has somehow managed to come full circle. How amazing is that? By the way, we are all mourning the loss of the plaid pants and spiky blonde hair. Ah well...some things need to change, I suppose. = )

Posted by: Stephanie on 06/08/05 at 08:15 PM

Wow. Thanks for the post! I have yet to see the stage production (though that will hopefully be changing this summer) and cannot wait until November 11th. I already informed my mother that I'll be cutting class at IUP to see the first showing. ^_^ She doesn't like this idea.

But anyway, again, thanks a bunch for the update. I love finding this site updated. It makes my day.

Posted by: Angela on 06/08/05 at 08:51 PM

Adam, I just wanted to say above all things that I think it is such a tribute to your dedication, and that of the rest of your cast and crew for taking the time to post on these blogs etc. In many cases, I think that fans lose respect for their favorite actors and idols because they, in turn show little respect for their fans. You guys, by doing this have created such a special bond with us, your supporters. Thank you a billion times over for your true dedication to your craft. I have complete trust in this movie to portray the truth, power, and real essence of RENT that has kept me, and those like me, enraptured by it since I was fourteen. Thank you so much again for your contributions.

~Sheena

PS I'll see you in a few years when I'm a huge Broadway star as well! *wink*

Adam,

Thanks for posting! It is really great to hear that you are happy steping back into Roger's shoes after all these years. I bet you would never of thought nine years ago that you would be filming the movie version of the musical with your wife and kids their to support you. It is amazing how life comes full circle.

I am so looking forward to the movie. While the filiming was going on down at Thompson Square Park,I literally walked into the scene while they were filming you running into the life cafe. I wasn't an extra but no one noticed that I didn't belong in the scene. I am crossing my fingers that I get in the movie.

Cant wait till November and seeing you again on Broadway.

First of all, I just want to say that Adam, you are such an amazingly talent individual, and I love u so much! Ahhh! There, got that outta my system. I'm so excited and relieved to hear that the cast, crew, and Jonathan's family all believe in this movie. From what I've seen from the trailer and all the fan pictures, it looks like it's going to be amazing. Thank you so much for writing and keeping all us Rentheads happy. :)

I was so excited when I learned that most of the original cast was reuniting to make the "RENT" film a reality. I never saw the show with the original cast, but love to listen to the original cast recording. I have seen the show on Broadway six times and would love to see it six-hundred more. Everytime I see it, I feel that, even though they are talented, no actor brings to Roger what you did when performing the songs. I love the raw emotion in your voice when singing ... loved it so much, I bought "Model Prisoner" and hope to be able to afford to buy "Civilian" soon. Keep doing what you do, Adam. Love you!!!

Posted by: Kelly on 06/08/05 at 09:43 PM

thanks so much for posting, i saw rent on tour, but i have never seen it with the original broadway actors and i cant wait for the movie comes out!

im definetely ordering tickets ahead of time, and all my friends are super phsyced to see it!

Posted by: charly on 06/08/05 at 09:44 PM

When I first heard that they were turning my favorite musical into a movie--I have to admit that I was more than a little upset. I had heard so many rumors about different actors who would be portraying the roles, I was prepared for the worst. I know, I know. I should have had more faith, but I couldn't help it, forgive me.

But then I saw the trailer on EXTRA. My God. I was literally left speechless at how wonderful it looked. And the fact that a good number of the Original Broadway Cast is in it (i heart you Adam and Jesse!), I was ecstatic. November can't come soon enough!

It's going to be amazing! And kudos to the cast and Chris Coloumbus for bringing RENT to the big screen!!!

Adamn, thank you sooo much for posting!!! That post made my day - I was excited to see it at first and by the end I had this huge smile on my face and for *some* reason, it stayed plastered on for a very long while. That always seems to happen every time I go to this site :D

Thanks for trying to reassure us all, and believe me, everything I've heard from any of the cast members or people involved in the movie has made me more and more relieved and happy about the movie. It's awesome.

I'm wondering just exactly how I'll be able to wait for November 11th....:D

Adam,

Thanks for finally posting, i have been (and i'm sure most of the RENTheads have been too) desperately waiting to hear from you.
The trailer, even though i've watched it a kagaillion times, still gives me chills. I'm so excited they brought back most of the original cast, or else it just wouldn't be the same. (especially without you!) much love to you and the AMAZING cast.
oh man am i excited
Love Always

P.S.
if you responded to my post, even if it's just a "hi, i'm adam" i think i might burst. keep that in mind (:

I'm sure it has already been said a MILLION times, and if I'm repeating, my apologies...BUT...I think it is amazing that you guys are taking time to fill us in. It's not often...well, it's really almost never, that actors will let the fans in on most every step in the process.

Thank you, Adam, for taking the time to fill us in. I know that there's a HUGE group of people in Kansas City anxiously awaiting the arrival of RENT!

I just have to say thank you to the whole cast.

IM a RENThead from way back. I was there with most of the OBC. It is so amazing that this is really happening. The show really means so much to so many people.

I feel like the whole experience is begining again. Im so glad so much of the OBC is present in the film. To me you guys ARE those characters. No one else I've seen...and I've seen many casts, could ever hold a candle.

Much love and thanks,
Nancy

FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *calms fangirlness down* Sorry, Adam...but, um...you were the reason I became interested in RENT. My friends went to see the tour and were running around, screaming and squeeing, and I got annoyed. But then they showed me the RENT OBC and made me listen to only three songs: "Rent", "La Vie Boheme", and "One Song Glory". Well, "One Song Glory" cliched it for me! I was in love. As an aspiring actres, singer, writer, so on and so forth, I really loved the message. Just wanting nothing but that one song that would prove you made a contribution to the world on a grander scale than your family and friends. *blush* Besides, I love your voice, it's sexy. And you're really hot too! (I apologize for the fangirling...again, but I swore if I ever had a chance to tell you this, I wouldn't waste it. Besides, I'm sure Anthony is getting tired of my fangirling at him =8->) Anyway, I wanted to say...thanks. I'm thrilled to bacon bits that it's the OBC in this movie and not some popstar. Especially that you're Roger and not Justin Timberlake. In your own words (Access Hollywood), "Well, Thank God for me!" Couldn't agree more. =8-> Anyway, thanks again and you're my favorite Roger!!!

Posted by: Bethy on 06/09/05 at 07:01 AM

After listening to you and the other cast members for all these years on the album I am so glad that I will finally get to see you all in the movie version. I also look forward to seeing the new members of Rent, I am sure they will not disappoint. Can't wait to hear the new recordings either. We love you all for what you have done and what you are doing.

OMG! I GLOMP YOU! ... (Glomping - To hug with enthusiasm). my friend does too, by the way.

So ... Omg, weee. Adam Pascal post. My day is made. Thank you for your post. You could be a writer, you know. And, much love for Roger. I can't wait to /finally/ see a portrayal of him by you. From the trailer, it looks great. Keep up the great job, Adam! We're stoked to see you. (Great hair, by the way).

adam! wonderful entry! I am so excited for this show I am drving my friends and family insane. I think it will transfer well because of the way Jonathon wrote it, he wrote into the play that the scenes should flow "cinematically" I am so happy that you guys are making a movie of RENT! Thanks for posting for us fans, have fun finishing up the film!

Hey Adam, thanks so much for posting. I don't really have anything to say that hasn't been said already. I'd just like to say that You are one of my all time favorite singers. I love your voice (Civilian has been playing in my car for a month!) and I can't wait to see how you interpret Roger on film, as I love the way you sing it on the OBCR. I'm soooooo freaking excited for this film. I hope you post again soon!

Posted by: Samantha on 06/09/05 at 12:01 PM

Hey Adam!
About your comments on fans who are doubtful of the movie, if it was anyone else doing the movie, I would've thought the movie would turn out to be another one of those movies-that-ruin-the-original-artwork(books/musicals/etc). But as the original cast members are in this movie, the cast members that lived and breathed this musical since the beginning with Jonathon Larson, I think it looks great now and will be awesome when it comes out:)

Thank you so much for keeping all of us posted!

great to read through this blog. can't wait till the movie comes out over here in germany. i was one of the many, waiting in line for a whole day outside the nederlander back in 96 (my first time in new york and the show was sold out moths ahead), to see the original cast. finally managed to get one of those rare 20 bucks front row seats and wow... what a show it was. loved every minute. glad that this movie will bring back most of those from back then. lots of love from bavaria

My gosh

I saw the trailer and I CRIED. I was at school in the middle of the tech centre sobbing with delight, I got THE stragest looks.

Thank you for posting!

I was TERRIFIED when I heard about the movie. How could it live up to the show? But I'm SO thrilled to hear that you and your fellow actors really believe the movie to be a success.

I am planning to make a new record in the number of times one person has seen one movie.

Good luck!

Hey, I have no doubt that you will be AWESOME as Roger. I must say I do have a favorite Mark (Scott Hunt.. He stole my heart as Marius in Les Miz). I can only hope this movie doesn't let me down the way Les Miserables did. So many movies that are adapted from plays, exclude things that I think are important. But looking at the trailor and reading your posts really make me feel at ease. So... HURRY UP!

wow, when I saw the trailer I *as well as others I read* cried my eyes out, you guys have done an amazing job so it seems, and all us RENTheads can not wait for it to come out. I even had to email it to my sister in law in Japan so she could see it, and know she has to either come home to see it with me, or something! cuz Im not waiting for her to see it in theaters! HAHA
Adam you and all the others are doing a GREAT job, wishing you all the best of luck!

Thank you so much for posting. Hearing from you (and the other cast members) means a lot! Having you on board for the movie is a true blessing.

In my eyes (as I am sure, many others) you are the only one capable of portraying the role of Roger to its full extent and richness.

We all hope to hear from you again soon!

Posted by: Melissa on 06/09/05 at 05:08 PM

Adam,

I just watched the trailer for the first time, and it's got me pumped to see the final movie! I live in Mississippi, and was in New York a couple of weeks ago and saw the show at the Nederlander for the second time. It was as powerful as the first time, if not more so. I can honestly say that seeing all of you on screen will be a thrill.

What's even more exciting is how much you are taking the film adaptation of "Rent" to heart. It's obvious all of you have such a great affection for the show and its message. That makes your performances even more powerful. Best of luck to all of you, and keep blogging!

All my best...

Brian

Adam,
I have been checking and double checking this site just to see you post. Ever since I saw you in Aida you have been my favorite broadway actor. I have seen other performances of Roger, and you by far are my favorite. I, just from seeing the trailer, agree that the movie is going to stay very true to the original play. I cried when I saw the trailer....I'm a loser, I know.

Thanks so much for posting!!

Ahh, sorry this is a useless comment, but I just wanted to say SORRY for misspelling your name up there in my comment as "adamn" instead of "adam", I swear it was a typo. Stupid fingers can't type very well at one in the morning while listening to "Rent" =P

Posted by: Alex on 06/09/05 at 06:03 PM

oh my gosh, I am so excited that Rent is coming to screen. So I hear, its November 11th. Most plays that turn to movies are never as good, but I love Rent so much, there is no way i could not like it! Rent has opened so many doors to young kids. Im only 16, and Rent was the 2nd play I have ever seen, and now, I love going to see any broadway musical. I am currently taking Drama in hopes of maybe making it one day. I can't wait to see Rent! You will be an AWESOME Roger, as always of course! I just had one question... are all the songs from the play going to be in the show, if not, which ones aren't going to be in it?

Hey!

What can I say that hasn't been expressed!! There is so much excitement amongst RENT fans that it's amazing. I can't wait to see you as Roger again. I saw you and the original cast some 9 years ago and since then I have seen you in Aida and Idina & Taye in Wicked. The original cast was absolute magic and I can't wait to see that spark again.

Adam-
Wow. This is the most exciting thing of the year. My boyfriend and I LOVE Rent. Together we've probably seen it about 10 times. This past winter we got front row tickets on broadway and it was amazing. I was just in blown away the entire time. The show it genius. I know all the lyrics by heart and they mean a lot to me. I have yet to see a Roger that lives up to your voice on the soundtrack. We've seen decent marks and decent maureens....but you and Indina...nothing can compare. So we are SUPER excited about this movie. I think I'll cry when I see it. Thanks! Good luck

Having just moved out of NY I miss Broadway terribly. Having Rent as a movie makes me feel a little bit closer to home and helps me to remember there is "no day but today". I am so excited I can't wait until 11/11/05 I'll be the firs tin line without a doubt. Thank you all for doing the movie.

Adam,

Thanks so much for posting! I loved you in Aida (a couple times) and can't WAIT to finally see you in Rent. I fell in love with the OBC on CD and can't wait to finally see most of you in the movie (and eventually own it on DVD). I was so happy when I found out the movie was being done and even happier when I realized it was being released two days after my birthday. When I figured out that it is being released on Veteran's Day (which I get off), I was thrilled! Thanks for the update. I can't wait to see the movie!

Adam!!!

I think I literally jumped out of my chair and screamed when I first saw your post. Thanks so much.

You were wonderful in Aida, and I've been going crazy listening to the RENT obcr, regretting the fact that I was seven (and didn't even know what "RENT" was) when you played Roger on Broadway.
Well, I still haven't seen the show(sad i know), but now...here's THE MOVIE starring the talented people who created the characters! I never thought something could be like this. It's like a dream. I guess Jonathan's masterpiece could only be taken to this level in the most perfect way possible.

Sooo glad you guys are having fun and that people all over can be touched by this story as well as your amazing talent.

And um...well, I tried to make it through without being a 'Book of Endings girl', but alas...
Adam, you are so sweet and beautiful in person. Yeah you're pretty much my favorite performer and meeting you has been a very big highlight of my life. This is weird too, but I hope your boys grow up to be JUST like you! *clears throat* hehe!

Okay, I think I'm done with my fangirl spasm. Take care and God bless. Can't wait 'til November!

I just have to say that your entire cast is so talented and I can't wait to see how the film comes out. I don't know how many times I've belted every word in my car, or talked about the show and it never seems to go away. I'm in college for music now and the older I get the more I hear younger classmen coming in singing the songs and loving it as much as I do. I'm glad to see the show stay so strong over it's nine year run. You guys rock! Congrats on all your success, you definitely deserve it.

Posted by: Greg on 06/10/05 at 01:29 AM

I am soooo skeptical about this being made a movie. I've seen this play twice on Broadway and once on National Tour. Having just watched the trailer, I'm a little more optimistic, however I still think the Broadway version is the best ever!!!

If the movie can capture the same emotion as the stage performance, it will be a success.

Cautiously anticipating!!!

Posted by: Sarah on 06/10/05 at 06:09 AM

Adam,
Thank you so much for posting and I wish the cast and crew all the success in the world! I simply love the play and I hope that the film will be able to capture the same essence and raw emotion that we've all come to know and love. I'm sure Jonathan Larson is smiling down on you all. Thank you again!!!

I cannot thank you and the other OBC members who have made the journey back to 10 years ago to revive these characters that have inspired so many, including myself. I cannot wait to see the journey and evolution these characters have taken and what new depths they have. I am excited to see Roger grow. It was his characters heartache and how he learned to live again and you're characterization of him that made me ultimately decide to pursue a degree in music theatre. I can only hope that all of the university training and life experiences can lead to an experience as amazing a life changing as what you have had with Rent. Thank you for conintuing to be an inspiration. Best of luck with the production and how lucky you are to have your family there to experience it with you. I cannot wait until November!

I'm so happy you wrote. This blog is amazing. It's great to hear from all of you and be reassured about filming. I drove with a friend from Dallas to NY in Jan. 1997 to see the show. We got SRO and it was one of the most amazing times of my life. I wept out of sheer happiness. I did the same when I saw the trailer. I can't wait until 11-11-05.

PS I also met you after a show and got a picture with you. It's still up. Much to the chagrin of my husband. Hee

I'm so excited to hear that the original Broadway cast approves. I am also glad to hear that you believe that the movie will be "heightened." Thank you so much for updating us, I greatly appreciate it. Oh, and when it comes to Rogers, you definetly win.
Love,

Adam~
I love what you wrote in the post. It was so honest and really captured the moments that you are experiencing filming "Rent".
I am a summer person, but CANNOT WAIT for it to be November so that the magic of this story can once again shine!
I met you in Jersey at the gig you did with (a very pregnant) Daphne... Thank you for your time and kindness.
Much love, Sonia =)

Adam Pascal, I Love You! Can't wait to see the film. The cast has to do a premire in NY so we get to see you all up close. Much love!

Posted by: Katie on 06/10/05 at 08:54 AM

Wow thanks to you and everyone for participating in this blog thing, it's so nice to see the cast and everyone else involved so willing to communicate with the fans. I for one am extremley excited for the movie! I've seen it on stage a couple of times but I'll admit being a broke college student in Boston doesn't give me the best leisure to take the train into New York and shell out money show tickets lol! I loved the show no matter what but it will be nice to see the cast close up instead of my usual nosebleeds seats! Take care and just have a blast!

Adam,
I'm sad I never got to see you on Broadway as Roger...'course I'm only 16 and only been into rent since last summer haha. But still, I bet no one could portray Roger as awesome as you and I can't wait until this movie! Thanks for the info, i'm glad Mr. Columbus is staying true to Jonathan's views. WHOO!!! I'm hoping to snag the role of Roger when i'm older. Well that's all,
can't wait for another post.

Dear Adam:

Allthough you probably don't remember me, we met backstage at The New Amsterdam theater, when Heather's concert: "Home".
I'am so, but so happy to hear and to finally see you performing in RENT, that i can't describe it, your voice makes me FLY.
I'am very glad to hear as well that the SOUL of the show is being kept, we need RENT forever, to teach the world to live, forget regrets and that there is no day but today!.
Thanks for been part of this great movie, i can't wait for it to finally come out, just watching the clip of it online brings tears to my eyes, RENT is very close to my heart, and knowing that you guys are out there to keep it alive, means the World to me.
THanks a million, and much love from a true Fan:

even though i saw rent 4 yrs ago, i remember it like it was yesterday...mostly because i listen to the cd a lot:) anyway, i guess i just want to say how great you are! roger's always been my favorite. the first time i heard the cd, i didn't really know much about the show and was actually moved to tears by 'one song glory.' i was hooked. funny story, last year my friends and i went to see school of rock and during the opening credits, i was like "wow, why does this guys voice sound so familiar?" all of a sudden, my best friend kim and i turned to each other and were like "AHH IT'S ROGER!!" our other friends had no clue what we were talking about, haha. i'm so happy you're going to be playing roger in the movie - best of luck with everything!

much love, lindsay

So excited to see you play Roger! The trailer gave me chills!

Now that my fangirlness has finally clamed down, I can actually write a concise and intelligent reply.

It's really great that Jonathan's family is there to make sure the message gets across as well in the movie as in the musical. I will admit to being a bit apphrehension at the proscept of Chris Columbus directing. I imagined, "Would you light my candle?" "Sure, LUMOS!" or something like that. That it would begin more 'family-friendly' and I'm so happy it's not. And I'm glad you've finally gotten around to blogging here. By the sheer number of comments, you must know how much it means to us fans. And no worries, when the movie is released and you become the mage star we all know you are, us RENTheads will beat off the tennyboppers with sticks. =8-> <----Mark smiley...yes, I am a geek.

Posted by: Bethy on 06/10/05 at 06:40 PM

You cannot imagine how much I am excited by the decision to make the best play I have ever known into a movie. There are so many parts of my life that I tie to the original release of RENT and they are all coming back to me with the strength of a waterfall. I am so excited that something I charish to the deepest core of my heart is still being acknowledged and will gain even more public view than before. I hope that after seeing the movie, people will go out and buy the original cd's,tapes, or whatever they can find. You and everybody that had anything to do with RENT have more than my thanks beyond any measurable amount of time. Thank you so much, thank you all for your jewel of a play.

Posted by: Andre Garris on 06/10/05 at 07:29 PM

I am counting down the days until Rent opens. My Rent CD is the only cd I have ever had that wore out from use. As long as you're playing Roger, then I am happy. No one else has the passion you do.

Posted by: MJ on 06/10/05 at 07:57 PM

It's really relieving to know the cast has so much faith in this movie. If I would believe anyone it would be the original cast. And as far as favorites go, im sure everyone has different ones, but i have to say mine are the original cast who sing each time i play my cd. It's so amazing that after 10yrs most of u have come back to take Rent to the next level. Thank u for that treat!

Adam:
The trailer looks absolutely amazing (except for those few out-of-sync moments during Tracie Thoms'/Joanne's solo ... I sure hope they clean that up soon!)

You enthusiasm for the filming is music to our ears. This is one of those musicals where everyone wants the film version to soar--finally the masses will understand what we're all so passionate about. I can't wait to be there on opening night (hey, if my brother can camp out for "Star Wars," I sure as heck can stake out my turf for our beloved "Rent.")

Does anyone know when this trailer is going to land in theaters, and before what movies it will be shown? I can't wait to gauge the audience's reaction.

I LOVE how the website is counting down the minutes till the film's opening ... getting excited yet?

Thanks for posting Adam ... you've lifted our spirits.

Man, I wish this thing would let me use paragraphs. Anyway, I just saw the preview and it practically gave me an orgasm.

I'm experiencing the type of pure bliss that a person can only get from a musical, being as how I have a dangerously unhealthy obsession with RENT, have seen every cast since 1996, own a stack of playbills taller than I am, and had the entire opera memorized before I bought the sountrack.

For me, Johnathan was able to take New York life and perfectly transfer it into a play. RENT mirrors my life almost perfectly, and it's nice to have something that I feel I can relate to.

Part of me thinks that RENT is what keeps me "healthy." It just helps to know that I'm not alone, and there are other people who live for today.

Hoping I'm still healthy in 220,135 minutes,
Marni.

Adam, you and Wilson have inspired me since I first saw the show when it opened on Broadway. I have seen several (18 to be exact) other incarnations of it since, but nothing will compare to the tears of joy and tears of sorrow I cried when I watched and listened to your performances. The album has continued to be a source of inspiration for me in my life, and now there will be a visual record to keep and treasure forever. I am so pleased that most of the originals were brought in. I auditioned for the show a few years back and got a couple of callbacks but my look and my voice are very different characters. You signed a book and took a picture with me outside Aida on the last Friday of performances. I still treasure it. Your voice is angelic, yet demonic- you are an incredible man. Nevertheless, I love RENT and I love all you guys! It helped me to realize and live my own dreams and start my own artistic adult video company and have been nominated for several awards for my work. All I can say is thank you.

Well, Adam,

I've known the music of RENT well... since almost the very beginning of it. I remember when looking for shows to watch before my trip to NYC many years ago (March, 1997) I stumbled across a short synopsis page telling me of the show. Being a not-so-long-ago-out-of-the-closet 17 YO, I couldn't tell my family "let's go to this AIDS-Fag-Dykes show" so I chose other shows. I regret that decision until this very day, as I haven't been to NYC since and haven't actually watched the show or any of the original cast members. Your music (and I really believe that in a very weird and mystical way J. Larson's music and lyrics were ment for you, guys) has gotten me through so many experiences: My teenagers' growing up pains, my first love, my first breakup, my new loves and subsequent breakups, my neverending optimism, my personal tragedy of loosing my brother, and many, many, many more. Now this, Adam, I say to you, personally. Your voice has inspired me in ways you can't imagine possible. You made Roger be not only one of my favorite musical theater roles, but also made it my personal dream and goal, as I am committed to some day portray it myself. I am a 25 YO guy who still has to stop himself from crying each time he hears "One Song Glory" or "Your Eyes". You Trully are a remarkable performer (and I say it even though I haven't actually seen you perform). I can hardly wait for the film to come to Israel, and you can be happy that you've inspired so many people....

All my appriciation,

Ido Gonen,

Israel

The movie should be amazing although honestly im so upset that some of my favorite songs have been cut. Anyways, only 5 months until RENT.<3

O, hey, Adam...

Did I fail to mention (in my last post) that I'm totally, completely, and utterly in love with you? I mean, I've never actually MET you, but in a girlish, fan sorta way? I know that's a bit pathetic (and that yo probably won't read this anyway), but I had to say it. And I know that 50 billion other girls around the world probably have the same ginormous crush, but...still. You. Are. AMAZING. Your voice, acting, personality (from what I can see), looks, just EVERYTHING (that I know) about you.

Ok, I'm done being annoying.

Hehe.

to the cast,

as original cast members (with the exception of ms. rosario dawson) who's worked with jonathan larson, RENT's probably affected you guys as a family, but do you honestly understand how much RENT has affected its audiences throughout these 9 years?

this comment won't be as effective, but god if i get a job offer to perform at least a cast member of the show, i'd be eternally grateful. i'll be so ecstatic and proud to have been a part of RENT's story. then again, we all live it but we don't tell it...at least we don't tell it as well as you first did in '96 (now, don't you guys feel old?). i'm eternally grateful to get another chance to see you guys performing RENT, but on a different stage. i was only the innocent age of 8 in 96, but i remember seeing the commercial and asking my mom if i could watch it. somehow things happen for a reason.

good luck to you and i wish you all the very, very best. i really do wish you all the best.

Hey hey, nice to hear from you, Adam. Every single cast member has been assuring us that the movie is staying totally true to the show. I can't really speak for anyone else, but it has reassured me a LOT.

Side note- it seems that when everyone talks about the new cast members they only talk about Rosario, so can you pass it on to Tracie that we love her just as much too? :)

Good luck on the rest of filming!

Adam! I adore you!

This movie is so exciting for me! I've been waiting, watching and worried. I've seen it six times and have to admit to being completely addicted. I'm so happy you are invovled in the production

Posted by: Erin on 06/12/05 at 01:32 PM

I've adore the musical since it came out. But I have to admit I've been apprehensive. I'm so glad it has you guys in it!

Posted by: Erin on 06/12/05 at 01:33 PM

I am still confused about how the songs are going to be presented. A lot of the songs can be done as performances, while others like "La Vie Boheme" are busting out in a public place. They are doing "Seasons of Love" in the trailer as a performance on a stage (granted--this the way we love it) but there will need to be an plot adjustment to explain it. I really didn't like Chicago's cop out (this lead to some songs being cut), while Phantom did seem too stagy when busting out and singing at any point. Seems like Rent: The Movie may have a better mix but I am still not sure how they will pull it off.

Posted by: Kel on 06/12/05 at 01:37 PM

Adam~
The trailer is classy and beatutiful. At first I had my doubts about RENT being made into a movie, however, this 2 minute film clip has assured me that it will be amazing. Thank you for posting. I am so happy that you decided to reprise your role as Rodger for the movie.

You guys started this obsession in me all those years ago and I have since seen RENT 14 times. The message truly is inspirational and it will finally reach the masses! I am so excited. Posted by: jack on 06/13/05 at 12:31 AM

I honestly don't know one person who isn't so excited about seeing most of the original cast. After all, y'all are the ones who we hear singing on the CD. Hearing "Seasons of Love" on the trailer and realizing it sounds so much like the CD was one of the happiest moments I've had in a while - knowing the songs would be sung the way I know them by the voices that sound familiar. I hope people in the theater will forgive me for singing along. And as for everyone's fear that a movie would mess up what we know and love about "Rent" - I never feared that once I learned of Columbus' desire to get as much of the original cast as possible as well as Jonathan's family. You are the people who know Jonathan's vision, and you will stay true to it.
So, to all my fellow Rentheads (and to the cast)- "Viva La Vie Boheme!!!"
- Mandy

Posted by: Mandy on 06/13/05 at 07:59 AM

So RENT is going to be a movie! All I can say is: "finally!" The first time I heard RENT was July 1998, from a friend of mine. Two days later (after funds had been acquired) I bought my own soundtrack. I have since memorized both CDs and piano music, seen it on stage three times and Mooed ALL 3 times, and bought the offical RENT book (with Jonathan's story and entire script). I guess you could call me a RENT head. *sigh* Nothing can tear me away from my love of RENT! Which brings me to my other point: RENT isn't just about friendship and hardship, it's about LOVE! RENT has the amazing ability to show its audience that love is truly blind. All three relationships are interracial and two of them are homosexual! Truly shocking for the old folks - Which makes RENT so truly amazing... It's Puccini for Gen-X, and no one else. Love IS. RENT IS. So Moo With Me!

Posted by: Ashley on 06/13/05 at 11:39 AM

Thanks so much Adam. I know this movie is going to be absolutely amazing- its impossible not to be. I know I speak for all of us who've pretty much played our soundtracks to death:), that we are counting down the days to see this cast on the big screen. (my idols!!!). This story is truly timeless and is so poignant in its message. It's impossible not to fall in love with every one of the characters and every song as well. It's amazing how connected you can feel to this story and the revolution its caused reaching people on so many levels. I'm sure the movie with stay true to this truth and will continue the legacy of Jonathan Larson. Rent has given me a new philosophy on life and for that I am ever grateful. Rock on Rentheads!!! To days of inspiration, playing hooky, making something out of nothing, the need to EXPRESS, to COMMUNICATE, to going against the grain, going INSANE, going mad....... VIVA LA VIE BOHEME!!!!!

augh! "rent" will be an awesome movie!!!

I never thought I would want to see this movie, but I was at Revolution the other day, and they showed me the Promo/Trailer for "5,250,600". I must say it was incredible. I have thought about it over and over since then. It looks so beautiful, and all of the cast looks and sounds so wonderful.

When I first heard they were making a movie version of Rent I was terrifed that it would be ruined. But since I saw the trailer, I can hardly wait! I think it's wonderful that most of the OBC has returned to reprise their roles. From what I can tell, this is going to be a wonderful movie! Thank you for taking the time to post about it and to alleviate some of our worries (about it remaining true).

OMG, i just found out like, a week ago, that RENT was becoming a film. I am so excited i can hardly contain myself!!!!!!!!! I am new to the RENT scence, as I have just seen it for the first time in New Brunswick, NJ at the State Theater a few months ago. This easily slid into my "favorite shows" list, which only includes a few others. (and i have seen a lot) I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-D All of you involved in this, thank you so much, you guys are AWESOME!

Thxs for keeping us updated Adam...im excited to hear that "hollywood" hasnt tried to change the story because they feel that it would better suit the big screen... F that... i know that is wont be exactly the same as it is on a stage but with most of the original cast onboard i feel at ease knowing that it will be close...one last thing, Adam u are one of the best actors/singers that Broadway and the music/film business has to offer and i look forward to seeing you in future musicals/plays/movies OR WHATEVER YOU WANT 2 DO...

I AM SO HONORED!! I have just graduated high school and have made the leap of faith to major in musical theatre and just go for it, from now on. I just wanted to let you know that RENT was the first musical I was priviledged enough to see my 8th grade year, and before intermission, I knew what I was doing with the rest of my life. To this day, when someone asks me what got me into singing and acting, I say, RENT, about 5 years ago. Thank you for such an amazing production and for representing this amazing world that RENT provides us. I am so excited to see this on film, as I cannot make weekly trips to New York and watch the musical as much as I would like. My goal is to one day help live up to Johnathon's expectations and be a member of the cast....we'll see how that goes. Adam, yoiu are absolutely amazing. Thank you for posting and for being in this movie, I'm sure it'll be absolutely wonderful, I can't wait for it to come out! Rent kicks ass.

Hey Adam!

RENT has inspired me in so many ways that nothing else ever will....and RENT wouldn't have been RENT without your powerhouse of a voice. 7 years ago a friend of mine handed me the RENT soundtrack, and it was your voice that completely blew me away. Sadly, by the time I finally got to see it on broadway, you weren't in it anymore. Then my two friends and I found out you were starring in AIDA and we got to go see it and hear you sing in person. :)

I cant wait to FINALLY see you play Roger, you're just the BEST! Good luck with your music!

Much luck to all you guys and keep up the great work! Us Rentheads are really proud of all of you. :) No day but today!

I'm a 48 year old white collar professional and have seen "Rent" - the stage version - twice. I own the soundtrack and know it by heart.

I cannot tell you how excited I am to know that "Rent" will be coming to the Theatre. Even though my personal life story is not like any of the plot and cast, it resonates with me deeply.

I excitedly await the theatre release.

Adam-
I have watched the trailer over and over again and every time i get chills. I was a little young to see Rent when it first came out so i never got a chance to see the original cast, but i listen to soundtrack almost every day and every time i am blown away by your beautiful voice on "one song glory". I am so excited for the opportunity to see almost the entire orignal cast together. Its so special that you guys are getting the chance to perserve Johnathan Larson's vision on film forever. Thanks for posting, and i can't wait till november!

Adam, we've been waiting an age for you to update. I know many people (including myself) who weren't sure about Rent becomeing a film. After reading all of the wonderful blogs that have been put on hear, I am more excited than ever for it to be November. Much luck and love to all of you. Your fans can't wait.

Hi Adam,

I want to say thanks to you and the entire cast and crew for preserving this amazing story on film. I am counting down the days until the film opens. From everything I have seen and read on the site, it looks like this is going to be just as fantastic as the stage production. I am sure that Jonathan is looking down and smiling.

All the best,

Laura

Oh, I am excited, especially because all of you [crew/cast/etc] are excited.

Because if you were worried, I'd be worried.

Adam-

I actually had the joy of seeing you in Aida twice (within the same week). I was also lucky enough to see the second to last show. And before I start into the Rent stuff I just want to say that you're amazing. You pulled off the role of Radames perfectly and I was totally spellbound by your performance.

Now, for Rent. Sweet angry monkey on a stick. I am so glad you're playing Roger! I love hearing you sing Roger on the soundtrack and I'm looking foward to "One Song Glory". One day I really want to be able to sing that song well. Keep up the awesome work and I look foward to the day where we get to see you on the big screen. It's taking too long for Nov. 11 to get here!!!

hey Adam,
great to hear from you again (gosh the last time we saw each other must have been at camp broadway or outside thethe stage door after Aida). Well just wanted to drop you a line and let you know how excited I am to see you as Roger again (always nice to return to your roots eh) and that I am sure that the movie will be wonderful. I know that Jonathan Larson will be proud. Keep up the good work
Love,
Lauren
ps. if your ever in my neck of the woods would you light my candle (oh come on like you could not see that joke coming from a mile away)

I can't believe this movie is finally happening, and with most of the original cast!! I have to say one of the performances I enjoyed the most was Roger... But of course, I love them all!! And then I saw Adam in "Aida" and he was great!!!

I'm sure that with the great cast and Jonathan Larson's family involved, this will be a movie he'll be proud of, I can't wait to see it!!!

P.S.: The trailer was GREAT!!! :)

Adam, like so many Rentheads I have seen the show several times. Unfortunately, I never got to see one with the original cast. The first time I saw Rent, I had already listened to the CD over and over. I want you to know that I hold every actor who plays Roger up to your performance on the cast recording, and I haven't seen one yet that can hold a candle to yours. You have such a strong voice--everyone else just comes off as a little too wimpy for my taste. I am thrilled beyond words for this movie to come out so I can finally SEE your performance, and almost the entire original cast. Thanks so much.

LOL ANYWAY I WOULD LOVE TO SEE THE ORIGINAL ROGER SING "ONE SONG GLORY"!!! CANT WAIT! THANX ALOT DUDE!

Hey Adam
Just in case you read this, i was wondering if there was any way of getting sheet music to either model prisoner or civilian. I love the music and would love to be able to play it.
Thanks and I can't wait for Rent!

Posted by: Jason on 06/15/05 at 02:40 PM

I have seen the play multiple times and cant wait for the film. Adam, you have one of the most amazing voices I have ever heard! Thank you and to everyone elce for this wonderful blessing of allowing us to see this in the movie theatres, and own it soon on DVD. It has touched so many people i know it will be a hit.

Hey Adam. I didn't get to see Rent until just last summer. I wish I could have seen you and the rest of the original cast in it, but it was amazing none the less. Now the chance to see it on the big screen.... just an amazing opportunity, for the story, the music, and all of you. The chance to get Johnathan's story and music to more people than ever before. And when I saw that most of the original cast would be in it, I was about ready to scream and cry at the same time! I've only seen the teaser trailer, and already I know it's gonna be good. It really has translated very well from stage to screen. And I could not think of anyone better to bring the characters to life on the big screen than the people who originated the roles.

I have been counting the minutes until the movie comes out...I saw "RENT" on Broadway in it's original run and then have seen it twice more in Seattle on tour. My son loves the song "RENT" so much that daily he pleads with me to play it in the car on the way to school! The moment I found out it was going to be made into a movie, I was thrilled! My husband and I will be there opening day and I will own the movie once it's on DVD. Nothing will ever, ever compare to the first experience I had while watching it live on Broadway...a truly deep and emotional experience. I am so profoundly happy that Chris Columbus has stayed true to the story, according to the actors' blog entries...that was a main concern I had with a movie version. I'm sure Jonathan Larson would be proud. I try daily to measure in love...no day but today. Thank you a million times over, RENT cast...you're phenomenol. Thank you Jonathon Larson...we know you're voice will be heard by millions around the world who might not have received the gift of seeing your play in person...I only wish you had been on this earth longer to continue sharing your gift with all of us.

I totally can't wait to see the movie and I know I'm gonna dance cry and walk out saying what an amazing film. I am utterly obsessed with RENT and (it may be-wait revise that-it definetly is awkward)I am completely in love with Roger, not you but your character. Ummmm well I was a little bit afraid that it wouldn't work without Daphne and Fredi but the trailer proves that everything will be just great. Ummmm well I wrote alot and I can't wait until I get to drag twenty people to the theater at 9:00 on November 10th just so that I can get tickets. You all rock!!

Adam.

The first time i heard that RENT was coming to theatres, i must say i was a little worried. It's so wonderful and inspiring and the best musical in the world i was worried about it becoming a movie. I was afraid they would take away the essence of the broadway show. But now that i have seen the trailer and know that the original cast is going to be playing in the movie, i feel a huge relief. I have loved RENT since i was 9 years old and i heard it for the first time at one of my summer acting programs. I love Jonathon Larson so much and i love the music so, so much. I listen to it everyday and i know the entire play by heart. The musical is just so strong and beautiful. Every struggle and every triumph in it is just amazing. The voices the lyrics. Its just completely breath taking. I saw it for the first time when i was thirteen after years of anticipation in New york and it was everything i expected. I saw it again in columbus ohio before i moved and it was perfect. My dream is to someday play a part in RENT and sing in rent. I'm so glad that you have played this part as well as the others. You are all truly wonderful and so, so talented. I would give anything to sing those songs but im so happy that you all are. You will always be an inspiration to me. Thank you so mu
