Shooting La Vie Boheme by Wilson Jermaine Heredia (Angel)
It's Wilson J. again. The number is far more chaotic than the Broadway production and far more fun. We get to play in a 360-degree environment with so many elements to negotiate. Everyone's energy on the set elevated the moment Chris yelled ACTION!...And we went out of our minds. Arms flailing, legs kicking, groping, smoking, dancing, singing.... you name it. (In a respectable way)...hehehe. So feel free to break out into dance when you watch it 'cause we were havin' fun! Thanx for the responses. I will try to reply when possible. But rest assured that I'm reading them. Peace! |

Hey Wilson! Thank you for the awesome post. I'm so excited about this movie. I must say, I'm in love with this show and I've seen it several times. I never got to see you as Angel, however I listen to you on the cd and have seen clips and you are my FAVORITE! You are sucha sweet yet sassy Angel...so talented! I know many of us fans of you have wondered what you've been doing since RENT and have missed you and your presence and I'm sooo happy you're back! Glad you are having a great time! I love you man! You're such an amazing man! :-)

I have so much respect for you wearing those heals all day long. I HATE heals- it's sneakers or sandals all the way for me!
Sounds like you are all having a blast. Don't worry, I'll def. be up and dancing in the theatre- I do it at home with the soundtrack anyway- but that's just practice.
Thanks for updating! Good luck and enjoy!
Posted by: Ashley on 05/25/05 at 04:50 PM
Wilson, I have nothing but respect for you kicking butt in those heels. I can't wait to see the smoking, groping, kicking and singing!
Posted by: Lisa on 05/25/05 at 04:52 PM
Of course we're going to start dancing during LVB, what's the point of going to the movie if you can't make a fool of yourself mooing and dancing? =8-D Seriously, rest assured, we will DEFINATELY be very into it! Thanks for updating for us, and I hope your hamstring and foot are better soon...heels are...scary. lol Have fun!

Wilson,
Glad to hear you're having a blast (even if you are getting injured in the process - feel better!). I'm excited to see how LVB is in the movie and I can totally see myself dancing the aisles, even if the rest of the theater thinks I'm crazy! "To going against the grain, going insane, going mad!"
Keep it up! :)

Hi Wilson,
I just wanted to tell you how proud I am of all of you. I've been a fan of yours (and the rest of the OBC) since the off-Broadway days. I've been with BCEFA making the RENT bears for Broadway Bears since 1999 (you might have seen Idina's MAUREEN bear and Ant's Charlie Brown bear that I sent out to the studio this past February). I'm still trying to convince Tracie that we can put one of her Joanne bracelets on the Fredi Walker Brown bear next year!
Anyway...bless your heart for being in those blasted heels all day. I've got a pair of them sitting in the "Rent box" here in the office for reference, as well as one of your old tennis skirts and unitards that Karen and MB sent over years ago. I'm up to my knackers in RENT costumes actually! It broke my heart the day that I had to cut up a pair of Roger's plaid pants to make the miniature version for Adam's bear! Crikey!
Keep up the amazing work, Wilson. This movie... Jonathans words and music...they're about to reach the world over...to people who might not otherwise be able to afford or get to live theatre. I wish you all the best.
I have faith in all of you...
Best,
-John

Here's to a speedy recovery!
Thanks for taking the time to keep us all up to date on the progress and for agreeing to return to the role in the first place. A lot of us would have been really broken-hearted if you'd turned it down.
You should know, though, my friend Jon hates you. Jessica and I were so excited for the movie that we pulled together a cosplay group. Jon didn't know that signing up for Angel meant wearing six-inch heels. Believe me, he knows now!
Posted by: Ashley Horn on 05/25/05 at 08:40 PM
Wilson, love you so much.
I hope your leg feels better, hon.
Flailing, singing, groping...sounds like LVB to me! Thank you for permission, we shall sing along.
Posted by: Bethy on 05/26/05 at 06:23 AM
Don't you let those heels get you down! You're the only one who could possibly pull them off; Imagine Adam and Anthony in heels, it'd be a total disaster! (Really funny, though)
AAEEEEEEEEIIIIIII!!! I just can't wait for the movie! I'm gonna go CRAZY during La Vie Boheme!
Glad you guys are having so much fun!
Peace, love, and painkillers,
Elizabeth

"La Vive Boheme" will be so cool and you can bet I'll be dancing in the theater!

As a stilleto-addict and total klutz, I completely empathize with you...although I've never had to jump up on tables in them. I hope you get better soon!
There's already been some speculation as to whether we'll get kicked out of the movie theaters for dancing and mooing, so it's good to know that we have cast-approval. Even watching the short clips on Access Hollywood, it looked like a total blast, so I'm already looking foward to the flailing, kicking, groping, etc!

As a klutz who wears stilettos when she really shouldn't, and dances in them, I feel ya! I LOVE Angel during La Vie Boheme, thnaks for posting this!
Posted by: Yonit on 05/26/05 at 05:35 PM
Love ya, Wilson. Be careful! We want Angel in full strength for all his awesomeness. You know I'll be dancing in the theatre... I did it every time at the play! One time an usher thought I had been in the show, because I was doing all the choreography in my seat. If only I could do it on stage, like you guys! Keep up the good work. Much love! LinZ
Posted by: LinZ on 05/26/05 at 08:51 PM
I'll never forget the first time I saw RENT in South Florida, how I was bawling during the "I'll Cover You (Reprise)" because I could not believe ANGEL was GONNNNNNNNE!!!
Then, listening to you on the CD (which I bought that night), my emotions were entirely indescribable. In fact, I still do not have the second CD (act II) fully memorized because I can't get past certain songs without crying my eyes out (and having my father ask in a worried voice "what's wrong"..."ANGEL DIED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (tears, tears)"
Well, I hope you're having the time of your life running around in heels that would even intimidate some women, being your adorable self with the astounding voice. La Vie Boheme will surely bring RENTheads across the country to their feet (whether the ushers like it or not). I have every single word memorized, down to the Uta Hagen reference "TO UTA TO BUDDHA!" In fact, my acting teacher was a student of hers. My friend Kimberly and I will be dressing up as RENT characters this coming Halloween (and probably every year after).
You were born to play Angel and I wish every day that I could have had the chance to experience it live (for you do not merely "see" RENT, you "experience" it).
Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to keep RENTheads across the nation GLUED to their computer screens. If only I was half the woman you are! And half the person, too! The amount of respect I have for your efforts to play a gay man as a straight actor is unlimited. I use "gay man" as a general label only because if I were to describe the idiosyncracies you brought to the character, we'd be here all day. A true actor! If you really read this, I'll be floored.
Wishing you only the best,
Diana

Wilson,
I had the honor of meeting you on the set the day you were filming La Vie Boheme B and the next day at your special photo shoot. I can’t tell you how amazing it was to watch your energy and your ever-present smile. I just want to thank you and the entire cast for making this movie come to life – and keeping it so true to the original play.
You and Anthony were so sweet as I got emotional when I was leaving. I wish I could blame my pregnancy hormones, but have to admit I cry every time I listen to the cd. This time it was tears of joy that you guys will be immortalized on film. I can’t wait to one day watch the DVD with our child and let them know that RENT was the thing that changed my life, that I was there for part of the filming and that “Angel” patted my pregnant tummy and gave me a big hug.
The film comes out the week I’m due, but you can guarantee I’ll be in that theater regardless. If it weren’t such a funny name for a child, I think I would have to name our baby Rent. But Angel doesn’t sound so bad, does it? : )
Thank you again, you are about the sweetest thing in the world.

Thanks so much for the update. I've been hoping for this movie (and wishing to see most of the OBC, which I wasn't able to see) for so long. I'm very excited about it and wish you the best. I still can't believe that it comes out in theatres two days after my birthday. I know how I'll be spending MY weekend!
Thank you for the updates!

Thanks so much for letting all of us (the fans) know what's going on with the movie shoot! It almost lets us be a part of it, you know? (Or at least feel like we are, anyway.) I hope your leg gets better soon.

Hey Wilson!
Hope you feel better soon! But, than agin, what's RENT, and LVB without just a *little* bit of chaos?
The movie will (hopefully) be in theatres right around my 17th birthday, so I'm set on buying out the whole theatre, and converting all my Friends to "True Believers", as you call us.
and dancing around the theatre.
Keep on banging that pickle tub- by the way, being a drummer and show off myself, I'm really impressed with all those little stick tricks you do.
See you in November

Wilson,
My friends saw you years ago in RENT on Bdwy: a matinee I believe. Something screwy happened during LVB and someone forgot their lines big time in the "act up. fight aids! bit". To cover it up after blurting out the lines you looked right down and made Dr. Evil pinky to mouth gestures to the audience and they reciprocated right back. They still crack up about it.
You are a star

Heyy sorry bout the injuries, but I'd be willing to get the injuries to have all the fun you must be having!!! This summer I might get an internship at the Agency that Jai Rodriguiz is signed at, so myabe I'll see a little Angel action even before the movie comes out!

Wilson-
Thank you so much for the update. And I'm sorry to hear about the stiletto pains. :-/ Although I must give you major kudos for being able to move so gracefully in shoes of that height. I'm a girl and I can barely manage shoes half that height without falling into a bush or something. *sheepish grin* Anyways, I'm glad things are going so wonderfully and I really look foward to your next update. Best wishes!

This has got to be the coolest thing ever. I've never done this before, but I have to say that you are without a doubt one of my top 5 singers of all time, along with people like Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra. I've never gotten to see you perform live (or even see the show!), but I pray that one day I will! I live in Arizona, so it's quite far away from New York! I listen to the OBC recording at least 10 times a day, and I'm dying for the movie. It comes out after my birthday, so I think it'll become an AT LEAST once a week treat to myself.
I may sound crazy, but I just love you and your amazing talent!
Love,

Dear Wilson,
I've never done this before, so forgive me if I do something wrong. ^^. I must say that I absolutely love you- you are such an animated person and indeed bring life to the character of Angel (how ironic). I have never seen the actual Musical, on Broadway or in a touring cast, but I hope that I one day will. I cannot wait for the movie to come out into theatres- I have seen a trailer of it and it looks amazing. I was crying at the end, and I think that it will blow away other movies.
A bunch of my friends and I are going to dress up when we go to see it and in Angel's(your) honor, I am going to dress up as him :) In Zebra tights and all . Thought you might like to know that.
Again, you are an amazing actor/singer and you are a great inspiration to an aspiring actress.singer such as myself. I wish you all the best of luck on your future fliming and hope you stay well :)
love,
Colleen

I assure you me an my friends will be singing and danceing in the movie theatre on November 11.

Wilson, I've been a big Rent fan since the beginning. I am very fortunate that I was able to see you and the (original cast) of rent in December of your opening year. I've seen it a ton of times since, both in NYC and with various traveling productions, by fair you are the best! Your amazing ability and fun loving spirit really showed through in your portrayal of Angel. Your character really struck a cord with me, in that not matter what life hands you, be it poverty, illness, or a broken heart, that we should all live our lives with the spirit, love, affection and happiness that Angel was able to make of it.
I can’t wait to see the movie and wish your continued success in your career!
Best Wishes
Bruce

True Believers huh? Yea, that sounds like Comix luvin Wilson. It's been a long time since we hung in London, and u are a VERY hard man to get ahold of, but maybe you'll peruse these and happen on this one. Congratulations on the film, get in touch when you have a chance, and who knows? Maybe next up you WILL get to play the Pumpkin King;)

Yo, what up son! Michael P., author of "Turntable Timmy" here (shameless plug)… I just I just wanted to stop by the blog to thank you. During the 5-day shoot of “La Vie Boheme” you treated us background actors with extreme kindness. You have an immense gift of humanity to accompany you amazing talent – don’t ever change! Peace.
P.S. The trailer looks dope!

Wilson,
I live in cleveland ohio and i'm 13, so seeing rent on broadway was almost impossible for my parents and i in 1996. I can't believe that rent's gonna be a movie... sort of scared, but i'm sure that chris columbos is gonna do an amazing job! Today 4 U has been running through my head all day, because i just got the Rent book about Larson along with the libberetto. I'm an actor at my community theatre. I know i sound like every fan, but i just luv listening to you perform! I'm deffinetly getting tickets for the movie! Opening night, babe!
Write back!

I am so glad to see you back in RENT! It seemed like you dissapeared from the Bway scene after RENT and I was worried I would never get to see your perform again. I am so glad to see you and many of the original cast members in the movie..you guys are going to be what makes this movie reach out. !Buena suerte amor lindo!

I cannot wait for the movie either :). I, too, lost a friend 5 years ago on Valentines day. HE was the heart of the friends I had back then. Unfortunately, after, everyone drifted apart... but anyhow, I look to "Rent" as a vivid, happy reminder of times gone by and from what hope what times are ahead for me- thank you, cast of the movie, for making this available to watch as a lifepreserver as often as needed- rick- rickinnorwalk@yahoo.com. PLease feel free to respond

Hey Wilson,
I just recently fell in love with Rent when we listened to it in our 8th grade chorus class and then peformed it at our final concert. I couldn't get enough of Ms. Angel Dumott Shunard so I went out and bought the cd of the original casting and haven't cut it off since! I'm so happy to see that some of the original cast is in the movie. Keep working those heels and can't wait to see it. Good luck with the rest of the film and keep having fun.
Much Love,
Dana

Wilson,
I saw RENT for the first time in 1997, and I've been in love ever since! You're amazing, and I'm sure you will be more amazing on screen! I was so glad to see you were casted as Angel. I'm very excited to see the movie, though I'll be in the Air Force when it comes out but I WILL not miss the first showing! I've waited years for RENT to come up on screen, so Keep up the great work, and Take care of that hamstring, and your foot!

I am DEFINITELY planning to dance in the aisle of the movie theatre (every one of the 3 and a half billion times I see the show) just for that, and get the weirdest looks from audience members.
You are my HERO for putting up with those heels like you do! Not to mention EVERYTHING ELSE YOU DO.
I am overly excited for this film. I actually burst into tears when I saw the trailor. I was at school, so I got some pretty strange looks. I'm pretty good at that.
Good Luck!

Wilson Wilson Wilson!!!
Why the hell wasn't i arround when you played( OPENED) Angel on Broadway???.
I moved to the US in 1999, so i was three years too late for that, and it took me another 3 years to get to RENT,but, once i did, there was nothing, BUT nothing in this world that made me feel alive like this amazing production .The role of Angel, his expressions, emotions and feelings are like from another planet, and God..we need that kind of Angels!
Anyways...enough of my blah blah blah...but i can't wait to see the movie when it comes out...i'am planning to dress up as Angel.....i wish you were here to help me out!!!!
The Best of Luck to all of you and specially you Wilson...you are fenomenal!!!!
Hugs and kisses, and more hugs!!!!

There are so many comments at this point from all the exuberant fans...I guess it's a pretty amazing symbol of how special this project is. I just wanted to add something a little off topic,Wilson I just saw an episode of Law and Order SUV that you were in (a long time ago I'm guessing by the style of haircuts) and the episode was pretty amazing. That's the only chance I've had to actually place a face with the voice, and well I just wanted to toss my own insignificant congratulations out there. I thought you did a great job with a tough role, and I'm looking forward to Rent.

What an anticipation level this is sure to be waiting for this movie to open...and thank goodness for the techology of today that allows you actors to share the experience with us..
Thank you - i can hardly wait to see this movie!

Wilson, you and Adam have inspired me since I first saw the show when it opened on Broadway. I have seen several (18 to be exact) other incarnations of it since, but nothing will compare to the tears of joy and tears of sorrow I cried when I watched and listened to your performances. The album has continued to be a source of inspiration for me in my life, and now there will be a visual record to keep and treasure forever. I am so pleased that most of the originals were brought in. I auditioned for the show a few years back and got a couple of callbacks but my look and my voice are very different characters. Nevertheless, I love the show and I love you guys! It helped me to realize and live my own dreams and start my own artistic adult video company and have been nominated for several awards for my work. All I can say is thank you.

Hey Wilson: It was GREAT working with you on the set at the mansion (I was the tall, brunette, "purple dress" lady by you.) You have terrific energy and you made the shoot outstanding. I thought of you this last weekend when I played Alice in Wonderland and people asked me what I really looked like and I told them to go to my website to see my picture, just like you did. It's SO FUN being incognito. Hope our paths cross again when I'm in New York. Chao, Suzanne.

Wow. I find it hard enough walking in heels let alone you! Hate them with a passion and wear them as rarely as I can get away with. Hehe. The things people suffer through for art hay?! I'm very impressed that you’re still in one piece after so many days of dancing on tables and things.
I'm in no doubt that La Vie Boheme will have EVERYONE dancing in the isles. I can't help but start doing the shoulder shrug thing every time it comes on in my car. Way to terrify other road users and any passengers unfortunate enough not to have seen the show!
Anyway good luck with the rest of the shoot. The trailer looks wicked.

Hi I wanted to write you for a few reasons one is the character you play is one of my favorites in the show and two is I have seen most of the incarnations of rent. I grew up even lipsinking one of your songs for a talent show when I was in high school back when the show first opened. Not that long ago a guy that I grew up with was actually in the show on brodway and it was like wow almost ten years later I went from wanting to know everyone on that stage to knowing someone on the stage. Rent has long been one of my favorite musicals and I hope that you are as fabulous in the movie as I remember you in the show. I am sorry to hear your heals are hurting so bad try walking on your toes more helps when I have to dance in heals. I wish you the best of luck with the rest of filming.

Oh wow! Someone said you can work those heels and I do believe it. I'm not sure, but if you did that backflip stunt from the trailer, then that's awesome. I couldn't imagine doing a backflip in heels, let alone wearing them. Anyhow, you've always been my favorite RENT character. :D
Oh and also, I sang I'll Cover You for an audition. :) Both parts ;)
Posted by: Brandon on 06/14/05 at 12:17 AM
Yay! I'm so excited it gives me the chills whenever I think of it! Slightly obsessed...:-) I cant walk in heels either if its any consolation, much less dance in them. You guys dont know how easy you have it! Anyways, I'm psyched to see the movie. I'm 15, so you have to come see me when I'm in in when I'm older! hehe i hope!

Hey Wilson,
I just gotta tell you, i REALLY idolize you. My all time dream is to play angel in ANY situation (but ultimately on broadway). And I just wanted to tell you that your abilities with the character, and the life you've given to her has just been an inspiration to me. Ever since I first heard the soundtrack, and heard your version of today 4 u, It's been my dream. I don't know where I'm going with this really, I just wanted to tell you the immense admiration I have for your work. Don't ever change a thing!
Although, as an actor, I'd love to hear the aspects that are more demanding ability wise to play angel so I can work on them more specifically!
p.s. that backflip looks awesome (was that you?)
p.p.s Me and my friends are FREAKING OUT waiting for the movie ;-)

I went to London, and I saw RENT there,in the Theatre.... invalibable !
I live in Barcelona, and I saw RENT in spanish,... amazing ! I don´t like translated plays but it was very good, because RENT is good in any lenguage
Yesterday I saw in TV a trailer of the movie, I'm counting the hours, minuts, seconds, cups of coffe to see it.

Wilson ~ I recall meeting you on a sweltering August afternoon after an amazing performance nearly eight years ago. I was front and almost center for the show and you said that you'd seen me crying (of course, who wasn't crying, right?). I'm so glad that you've brought your own spirit back to Angel...I've seen her a good number of times since she was in your care, and he hasn't been the same without you.
Posted by: Melissa on 06/15/05 at 12:34 PM
Hi Wilson J., I really don't know what to say; I've never written to someone I really admire like this before.
When I read all of your stories in that giant RENT book, i was astounded that so many every day, previously unheard of people were able to make that leap into RENT. It just blows my mind. I'm an aspiring Broadway actor/singer myself, but who knows, wherever the wind takes me is where I'll end up (waiting tables anyone?). As corny as this sounds (but I swear it's true!) you all have been such an amazing inspiration to me. I realize now that I, little old me, the theatre geek who was born and raised in a cowtown, can make it into the theatre. I just have to work hard, have passion, and care about what I do. And most importantly, live each moment as my last!
so much love and respect,
Gregory Paradis

Hi Wilson
Greetings from Sweden. I have been longing for this movie for so long and have a hard time getting that it´s finally coming. I have not seen you live but I hear your voice on my stereo almost every day.
Sorry to read about your injuries but I must say that you really can handle your heels... AWESOME! If I practised all my life I would still come short compared to you.
Hopefully I will not have to wait long for the movie to come to Sweden, the musical changed my life in so many ways and to finally see YOU as Angel... I can not wait!! All the best and thank you for keeping us posted.

Wilson! The first song I liked from RENT was "Today 4 U." It just had so much energy, was so fun--Angel's my favorite character, and you being the original, well, you have a special place in my heart, even though I've never met you.
Rock on in those heels, babe.
I'm glad that the first time I see RENT (lack of touring in my area is the cause of that) YOU will be Angel.
Glad we can see you again after all these years.

Thank you for treating background like a good chunk of us were struggling actors with Equity cards. That is more appreciated than you will ever know.
And thank you for "Drumming with us"

My dearest Wilson,
My name is Olivia or Liv Mammone. I'm a sixteen year old girl from Long Island and I just wanted to tell you that I have been mad for you ever since discovering RENT. You inspire me so much both 4 Angel and what happened after RENT, I know it was a hard transition 4u (A few of my loved ones have similar problems) and the way you turned yourself around just gave me so much hope. To me you are one of the most beautiful people on Earth. I have a fan letter for you that's been sitting here for literally a year. I know you're really busy and I don't want to bother you, I really don't but it would mean so very much to me if you emailed me, just to let me know that you read this, maybe I could finally give you my letter. Please, please? You would be making a girl with a disability overjoyed, it could be you're good deed 4 the day! Lol. I really love you Wilson. I am a true believer.

i am only 12 years old but RENT the musical means a lot to me, i've never seen it but I hope to see it soon. I know all the music and am listening to it non stop. One week I listened to it so much that my mom took away my rent CD! After I found out that Rent was comming out in the movies, I have been overly obsessing about it! In school on I have been walking around with a sign on my back that says LA VIE BOHEME and I am also making a count down on my computer to rent. My mom said that I can see rent at 12:00pm Thursday night!La Vie Boheme is my favorite song from Rent and I am so sorry to hear about your incident..feel better soon. I wish you could respond to this e-mail but I know that you are way to busy to. Have an ah-mazing time filming and I will have an ah-mazing time watching!

Dear Wilson,
I read on the main site that you're from Yonkers, NY. So you're probably aware that the City of Yonkers has stripped away all non-academic education from students- including music and the arts- supposedly in order to cut costs. Meanwhile, Yonkers district superintendents are getting huge bonuses.
As an artist residing in Yonkers, what's your take on this? What impact will this have on kids? Can they still be artists and musicians?

It sounds like a lot of fun. I can't wait for the movie to air, and I'm really glad you and the rest of the cast are enjoying all the hard work, I'm sure the audience will too. :)

Wilson!
Oh, what can I say to you, other than you are so talented, and you look gorgeous as both a woman and a man. Haha! No seriously, you look better in a dress than I do, but anyway. I love your voice. I have been a devoted Rent fan from about 'You Okay, Honey?' the first time I saw the musical in about 2002. Since then, I have hopelessly thrown myself to anything and everything involving Rent, I even wrote to Oprah begging her to send me to the premier so I could meet all of you and hug Christopher Columbus for making this movie haha. I saw the trailer and I just started crying, I was so happy. No one could ever play Angel better than you can, and when she dies in the movie, I'll be that person you hear in the movie theater (the one that at one point was dancing in the aisle, singing along) now sobbing uncontrollably. It's so sad everytime I hear it, see it, anything. I cannot wait for this movie, my friend Ryan asked me, "Oh are you going to see Harry Potter?" Now, I love Harry Potter, but it comes out the week after Rent, I told him no. He asked me, "Why?" and I told him, "Duh. Rent is due!" and he was like, "Oh, well it comes out the week before. See it then." and I laughed. I was like, "Oh, silly Ryan! I'm not gonna see Rent just once. It's way more important than Harry Potter and a billion times better!" So then he called me a traitor and we haven't really talked since haha. I'm so excited and I cannot WAIT to see Today 4 U on the big screen. I'm gonna go watch the trailer again for the 359th time (and I don't think I'm exaggerating too much) Congrats on filming being complete. And take care of yourself!!!! You're not allowed to get hurt anymore!
Love,
Briana

being a "theatre kid", my friends and i are very disagreeable on whether or not movies should be made from broadway shows. half of us say that movies take so much away from the live performance and it is impossible to understand the awesomness of live theatre and that if you HAVE seen the bway show, then see the movie... well, its disappointing. (chicago and phantom for instance). the other half says that its a good way to get musical theatre out there and stuff like that.... what do you think?
Posted by: Rene on 07/13/05 at 06:46 PM
I must confess Rent is not the first time I heard of Wilson Heredia. Law & Order is but am I ever so glad that I watch that show. It turned me on to a terrific actor and an outstanding Broadway show. I was just wondering if you plan on expanding your career because you do drama very well and your comedic timing (ie Flawless), excellent.

Congratulations Wayne!! I was looking through some old community theater pictures from when we were in Snoopy and Mary Poppins together back in Knoxville and I think it's great that you've finally made it. Especially in a show like RENT! Way to go!

I plan to rock my 5 inch heels and zebra pants on opening day..My friend and I already have plans to spend the entire day going to different theaters to see it as many times as we can. I have a slight feeling the heels are going to take a toll on my poor feet..I can only imagine what you've had to endure. What is your favorite part about doing this movie?
Posted by: Jillie on 07/25/05 at 03:59 PM
Unbelievable job playing Angel! Amazing voice, amazing talent, amazing everything! The character of Angel has brought me to hysterical tears on more than one occasion (when I saw RENT for the first time in October, then again in June, and, yes, sometimes even when I listen to the soundtrack or watch the movie trailer) not only because I have such a great love for him, but because the actors who fill those heels do such amazing jobs, and you're the best of the best! There's nothing I look foward too more about this upcoming year than seeing you fufill the role beautifully on screen, and if seeing it opening day means pitching a tent and camping outside the theatre just to ensure that I get tickets, thats exactly what I'll do- no joke! I have tremendous amounts of love for the story of RENT, for the music, the choreography, the characters, and especially Angel...I've already begun my search for that cute little Santa dress and zebra leggings for the upcoming Halloween. Much love, congratulations and thank you! --Monica

Wow! I have to say that you're a very courageous person. I could never handle dancing in heels [I learned that at a wedding]. I'm glad you're having fun and I'll bet I'll have fun watching it. I just know I'm going to be dancing through the whole darned movie.

I can't wait until the movie, as well as that scene. I think all of you are just flat out amazing...and I love the heels! You have more courage than I do to wear them like that!

wilson, i just have to say you as angel is beautiful.
its hard for guys to play drag queens, but you did amazing.
your voice is spectacular.
your drumming? i am sooooo learning the flam tap beat you had when you found collins, lol.
i personally am still having gender issues, and your portrayal of Angel - and the comfort Angel has being a queen is inspirational.

Dear Wilson,
I saw Rent last Saturday and it was phenomenal! It was a dream come true for me because I'd been wanting to see the play for a long time. I still haven't seen the play but the movie was fantastic and I think the whole cast deserves some serious recognition. You are an amazing artist who is dedicated to his craft and your performance was amazing. You were my favorite character. I wish I had had the chance to see you on Broadway but I didn't but the movie was great. I thought I'd tell you just for fun that I cried when the cast sung "Seasons of Love" because it was a dream come true to hear that song sung by the cast for me. The film made me see things in a different way, it inspired me want to do more for people, and care for people even more than I do now and it inspired me to fight AIDS. The film inspired me even more to become an actress because I feel if I could offer someone a chance to experience what I experienced I've done over and above my job. I don't see acting as something to do I see it as my gift to the world, and Wilson you have an amazing gift, so I hope and pray that you will never, ever stop using it.I feel as if I owe a debt of gratitude to you and the rest of that cast for what I experienced. I wish you all the best on your future endeavors and I can't wait to see what you'll come out with next!!
Love Always,
Tiffany C.
P.S. Rent is not just a movie, it's an experience.

I am up to 3 times for seeing the movie and hopefully Ill be seeing it again tonight. Wilson you are such a cutie pie! I smile every time that I hear something that you sing or when I watch the movie and I know that you are in the next scene. The last time that I went to see rent, my friend and I were the only people there so we were singing and dancing around like fools around the theatre. Do you have any future acting plans?
Thanks for making me smile babe!

I loved Angel, and I loved the way you played her. She was such a fun character, and when I watch the movie I get so emotionally attached that I start crying when Angel dies, and I've seen the movie three times. What roles do you plan on doing in the near future? Are you going to stick with broadway or do you want to pursue a career in film?

We went to see RENT on 11/26. My husband took me for our 9yr. anniversary of being together which was on 11/21. We loved the movie. We missed the very beginning because the lines were long at the concessions but caught it when "RENT" was being sung. At first, I thought that the song was kinda silly but then I got into it. The rest of the movie was super cool. I really loved Angel. My husband and I both cried when she died. The movie was magnificent. I really wish I could have seen it live.
Love You,
Beverly D.

Wilson, I only have one regret and that's not seeing RENT live on stage I've seen the movie 8 times now and plan on seeing it many more with friends and family. your performance along with the rest of the cast has inspired me to have a more positive outlook on life and enjoy every moment of life I have. Also, I've decided to follow my dream and began my study of the performing arts and who knows, maybe we'll work together some day. Thank you for the gift of inspiration you all have given me.
P.S. My voice is gone from singing so much but I can hit every note on most of the songs. I'D MAKE YOU PROUD.

I loved you,Wilson, in the movie,Rent, you played Angel sooo well. I cried so hard when she died, she was such an individual. I've seen the movie twice, but only because my parents wouldn't let me see it any more because they thought I was getting obsessed. I'll watch it alot more when ever it comes out on DVD. GOOD LUCK.

OMG! I can't believe you just said to feel free to get up and dance during La Vie Boheme!
Seriously, I did that. @_@ I thought I was just crazy for doing it!
The seventh time I saw the movie (At 11pm, by the way.) It was just me and my family in the entire room so we ALL got up and danced.
I knew all the words, and my sister did too, so we had TONS of fun. (3 of my other siblings know TWO words... The two that Mark says, that rhyme with "Creation and vacation" LOL! )
Oh well, at least they try!
Anyway, the other times I saw it
(and didn't want to anger the other viewers)
We stayed in our seats and did the hand motions!
You know what was hard?? Not singing! OMG I know I'm not alone in this. Avoiding bothering the crowd with singing was SOOO hard for me! I felt like I was going to explode!
But I mouthed the words AND to have a lil fun without words... I dressed as Angel!
That's right guys, SIX-inch heels, zebra-striped tights, wig, short red skirt, and a green jacket. Yes... I'm crazy.
I'll go now! lol
ja matta ne, and as always much love to WJH! ^_^

I saw the movie, and loved it! I'm not an obsessed old-fart, I'm actually 13 years old. Though my opinion may not matter, I decided you were my character. You were, by far, the best, and most unique. You're eccentric!
Posted by: Sarah on 12/28/05 at 07:52 PM
I don't want to take your time, but I do want to say this: This production is an obsession!! My best friend and I are more into you and this movie/play than anything else in the world. You play the character so well, it really made me think. Thank you for everything you do as an actor. Believe me, it's appreciated.
Posted by: Sam Baxter on 12/30/05 at 07:43 AM
I think your role as Angel was played so well. I loved the movie so much, even though I've never had the chance to see the play, but I definately will. I think your a great actor and thanks for everything you do.

Hey Wilson
Every night I pray that some day I would became a great actor. I feel like were almost brother's cuz my mother was seamstress and my father was a super. My mother sang lovely, and my father played the Saxophone. Where a very musical family. My parent saw your performance of rent on Broadway. As a child they said I looked like you but I grown up to better looking than you. Haaaaaaaa. I’m 18 years old, and been acting all my life. I even have my own band; its kinda like hip-hop meets smooth jazz. I ve put out my resume out everywhere in my city, but nobody taking me seriously. Tell me how you started your quest to success? I almost forgot you were super and Flawless and Rent even though you drag. So hit me up when you get the chance. I'll Halla

Dear Wilson,
I have no clue if you guys are still reading these things or not, but I feel like this is something I need to get off of my chest. It was the weekend after Thanksgiving when I finally saw "RENT," 17 days after the 1 year anniversary of my only grandfather's death. I must say that when I walked into the movie theatre, I had no idea that the movie would be both entertaining and theraputic. As the movie drew closer to Angel's demise, I saw how Collins cared for his beloved - reminding me of how attentive my family was to Papa before his passing. Once I saw the hospital scene, I began to break down - not only because of what was happening in the movie, but all of those emotions I had felt just days before Papa died came flooding back to me. The anger, the pain, the anguish, the feeling of hopelessness and helplessness - No one could stop Angel from dying, the same applied to my grandfather. During the funeral scene, I merely proceeded to break down further - I was the proverbial train wreck. After the movie had ended, I realized that I had not only been crying over the loss of Angel, but crying all of those tears I held back from a year ago, and in some crazy way... it helped me. I feel more calm and peaceful about what happened.
I just wanted to say thank you, to you and Jesse L. Martin, as well. I wanted to thank you for signing up to make this movie, and eventually filming this scene. You have helped me to heal in more ways than you'll ever realize, and I don't know if I could ever thank you enough for helping me to cope with a painful situation like mine.
And it's EXACTLY as Jonathan said, "No day but today."
Sincerely,
Lancie

Hey, sorry for the aches and pains from those Devil's Shoes you were wearing, I sprained my ankle once, and I know, it's not fun! I have a question though, when you filmed the singing scenes, do you actually sing or do you lip sinc with recorded songs? Because, ever since I saw the movie, I have been listening to RENT songs and I notice a change and all. So thank you for reading my comment, and I hope to get an answer, but I know how every one is busy and all, so no worries if you don't. take care -- Sommer

Wilson,
I got the 2-disc soundtrack right after I saw the movie and I just bought the dvd the other day and I've watched it too many times to count. You are so talented and you look gorgeous as Angel. Angel is definetely my favorite character in that movie. I will be singing Love Heals and I'll cover you(reprise) in an upcoming chorus concert. A friend and I. I hope to hear from you.

It was all worth it, though, cause you looked great!
Way to dance!
