God, it all sounds so amazing.

You know, I read the book Wicked and then got into the soundtrack after the Tony Awards. I also had been listening to the original cast of RENT for the longest time. But not until now did I make the connection between Maureen and Elphaba.

I find it amazing how much your can vary your voice.

ever since my junior school choir sung "seasons of love"., i always wanted to see the play rent.It was'nt till years later I saw the play because it was part of a college class assignment and im now hooked (i only saw it twice, so im not a renthead yet). when i heard about the film and that the original cast was there all i was thinking they better win an oscar!! the show has such a great message and its great that it is being set forth on screen. VIVA LA VIE BOHEME!!

It's very exciting to hear (well, read) your perspective! I, along with all of my friends, are very happy you're enjoying yourself, and can't WAIT to see the movie! (I don't really know what else to say without gushing, so I'm gonna go now.)

I'm looking forward so much to seeing TMOLM and La Vie Boheme. And the entire movie, of course, but those two songs will in particular be great I'm sure.

This is truly a dream come true. I know that the chances of meeting you in person are zip so I am incredibly grateful for these blogs. I've loved you ever since I heard you on the "Wicked" soundtrack (I, unfortunately, never got to see it. I still haven't seen it but hopefully when it comes back to Toronto in 2006, I'll get a chance). When I started listening to "Rent", I immediately recognized your voice. I've said this over and over again to Anthony and to Chris but I really, REALLY, appreciate all your dedication to the movie and to keeping the fans informed. It's obvious that you guys are all working hard and the fans are really grateful for it. I want to extend my congratulations on the success of Wicked. Even just the soundtrack was wonderful and inspiring. You have such a beautiful voice and I can't picture anyone else as Elphaba...I've probably listened to the soundtrack at least 75 times. I can't express my joy that "Rent" is coming out in the movies. Because I have never seen this musical, this will really be a special experience for me. I can't see how this movie will flop, considering what a stellar cast it has. When I first heard that you and Taye had met on the production of "Rent" I thought it was the cutest story but when I heard that both of you would be returning to make the movie version, I just about died. You two are perfect for each other (from what I can tell, that is). Well, enough of my gushing; my very best wishes and admiration.

It's so wonderful to hear that everyone is having such a great time making this film. "The love you put into it is the love that is seen by everyone else." So I have no doubt in my mind that audiences will believe every minute of this movie. I am so excited to hear how well the shooting is going. I got to see Access Hollywood and the show looked amazing. Mimi (Rosario) looked like she really jumped head first into the character. You looked amazing, as usual!! I was so excited to see you guys doing the original choreography at the table!!! Do you continue doing the original choreography or is it changed up a little bit??? How are you guys remembering everything? I didn't know if you had someone from the cast in New York come up and re-teach you guys some of the movements or if you just remembered them. It is so great we are able to read this and keep updated with what you guys are doing.

Hola Idina! I love the musical's message and all of the heart that seems to come from the production.I'm so releived that you guys are trying to keep the integrety, and love of the musical! I remember my mom took me to New York to see it the first year it came out, and even though I was only eight I understood and loved it. Every time one of you posts, I get more excited and less nervous about this movie. I'm so jealous of all these people who have signed on as extras, because it sounds like you guys are all getting paid to got nuts with having fun :) And thanks to you and everyone else for keeping us obsessive fans up-to-date. Even three times zones away, I feel like I'm part of this magic!

Also, on a sidenote, I was lucky enough to catch you in Wicked about a week before you left. My family had to leave before any of the cast came out, but I wanted to thank you for one of the BEST Broadway shows I have ever seen.

I have to admit, when I saw the above post, I let out a little squeal. Luckily I was alone and avoided funny looks.

The first thing that pops into my head when I read this is "Don't you wanna land the role of a lifetime?" (Yes, wrong show, I know...), but then I realize you've had 2 once-in-a-lifetime roles (and now you get to reprise one of them)! I must admit when I first heard they were coming out with a RENT movie I was a bit nervous, I feared they would ruin the musicals true meaning, but when I found out most of the original cast was doing it, I knew you all would preserve the true meaning of the show. I haven't seen rent the first time around but I saw the clipping on Access hollywood, and it looks great so I am looking forward to seeing it, you on the other hand are beautiful actress very talent, keep up the good work.

Idina, I have been a huge fan of RENT since the beginning, and I'm thrilled that I'll be able to see you in the film, since I missed your last performance as Maureen by about a week. I was fortunate enough to see you play Elphaba this past fall, and you were wonderful.

What you might not hear as often is how fabulous you were in THE WILD PARTY. Unfortunately, I didn't see it onstage, but it's my favorite show thanks to the soundtrack. I am head over heels in love with that show and everyone in it (Taye included, of course). Kate is a dream role of mine. (Not to mention Maureen and Elphaba!) You are such a lucky lady to be so talented and beautiful, and to have originated some of the best and most memorable roles for women in musical theatre. Those of us who strive for the footlights will be looking to you as an example of what it means to be a musical theatre force for years and years to come.

I just saw Rent for the first time two weeks ago. I immediately bought the soundtrack afterwards and have been enjoying it daily ever since. My only regret is that I couldn't see you on stage in the role of Maureen. But luckily, with the upcoming movie, I'll have my chance! I've been a fan of yours since I saw Wicked last year...which is my favorite Broadway musical. You truly deserved the Tony!

A couple days ago, I got the original cast recording of Rent, and I've been listening to it ever since!! I think it's really cool that most of the original cast of the show was cast in the movie...it's such an amazing show, even just from listening to the recording.

I went to see Rent again on May 17th with a large group of my friends...we got to meet the entire cast and let me just say that I made an ass out of myself with the current Maureen..Kelly Karbacz..Instead of congradulating her on a fabulous show...I blurted out.."Have you ever met Idina Menzel"...I then dug the hole deeper when I told her that you're my favorite person in the world hahaha...then I tried to fix it by saying..that I liked her too..but she was cool..she just laughed...but im almost positive she went home and cried...

Idina, you are truly amazing! I saw RENT for the first time a few months ago, and until last month I didnt even realize you were the original Maureen, since you're Elphaba voice is totally different then your Maureen voice. But anyway, after I found that out, I was obsessed with the fact that my two favorite shows that i'm fully obsessed with both had YOU in the original cast. Little things like that thrill me. I will never get over the fact that i didnt get to see you as Elphaba. I listened to the Wicked soundtrack for 9 months before I actually got to see it, and I live right by manhattan. When I first became a fan of Rent and would listen to the CD daily, I used to blast "Take Me Or Leave Me" on repeat (hoping my parents wouldn't pick up on what the song was about). It's definitely one of my favorite songs in the show, so I can't wait to see it in the movie! I know many of y'all have said that you're past your roles in Rent, so I just wanted to thank the whole returning cast for reconsidering this for the movie. It IS rare for the OBC to be in the movie, and I think that Rent cast perfectly represents why this should happen more often, because this movie couldn't have been done right without you guys.

(i got my butt out to NY right away so i could see it) I first heard about you through my friends acting coach and i immeadiatley knew you would go far. I've seen the show twice, once at it's west coast premiere at the La Jolla Playhouse with my mom(subscribed to the season just to be sure we got to see RENT) and once on Broadway with my daughter! Complete family affair. My daughter is involved in musical theatre so any time I spend with her and her friends they are singing and dancing to Rent and other soundtracks. I think it's so amazing that you, Anthony Rapp, Wilson J. Heredia, Christopher Columbus, and Julie Larson have posted in this about the movie's progress thus far. I think it's so great how the original cast, despite their successful careers following rent have remained so humble and receptive / congenial to their fans.
Oh, and Benny and Maureen hooking up? Crazy talk. Who would believe that? Ha. you're also my favorite couple ... ever.

Idina, I saw you in WICKED, you were spellbindingly wonderful. I hope that you bring the life and love to Maureen that you brought to Elphie. I'm glad Chris is doing a nice job with it and that he kept the original cast. I'm also happy that you're having fun. Your voice amazes me no matter how many times i hear it! I'm so glad that you posted. I love that picture of you, you look "So Beautiful." I'm a very avid fan of Rent and I'm very excited for the film to come out in November. Even though Maureen can be "vain and "self-absorbed", the way you portray her makes people remain liking her and of course we're drawn to your amazing voice, which is also why I love Maureen. I think you are truly amazing and I, like so many others, look up to you because you have the career that someday I would like to achieve and I admire how strong you are. I also admire how real you are and how amazing you are to your fans. Congratulations are due for your wonderful performance on Kevin Hill. Timing is everything! I just finished reading the "Rent" libretto which contains the facinating story of Rent's creation and it's creator, Jonathan Larson. Idina, you are sensational. I was fortunate enough to see you in "Wicked" last January (the week before your scheduled exit. How are your ribs???) Your voice is a beautiful instrument and it is an inspiration. Can't wait for the release of the movie. "Rent" is more than a musical....it is a journey through life. All the best to you and Taye.

I musta been really out of the loop, but I had no idea you played Maureen in the Original Cast of Rent. I knew you were Elphie in Wicked, but not Rent. I have seen Rent a handful of times and I'm glad that the orginal cast will be reprising their roles. I can't wait till I see it on the big screen. I just have to say, I've never seen Wicked and I am exstatic to see it in Pantages in a couple of weeks. I just wished it was you that would be playing it. I have been a RENT fan for a while. I've seen the play a few times in broadway and have the original cast recording cd. I was introduced to RENT through my friend Carmela, and i am so happy to find out that there is a movie being made. I can't wait till it comes out! We'll probably be first in line at the box office to purchase tickets! I wish everyone on the cast happiness in creating an awesome movie!

Oh my God..... I can't believe I'm leavig a comment that Idina freakin Menzel is going to read!!! Like i'm scared to post this... I don't know what to say other than I love you. You're amazing... and i might just die the day the movie comes out....or at least i'll be seeing at midnight when it opens.

I'm not sure your going to even see this behind the insane amounts of people before me, but I wanted to leave a little message with my thoughts anyway. I love RENT. I haven't seen it ten million times or anything just 6. While that sounds like a not I really don't think it is. I have a lot of love for RENT, and feel a connection with it. It reminded me that I love to sing, and would rather do that than anything else I may be good at or enjoy. I also found an even closer connection to the show when I found out that Jonathan Larson's birth date is the same as mine - except for the year. While I feel so close to RENT, I am very skeptical of the fact that it is being made into a movie. I'm worried that it will ruin the show for some people, or not truly live up to all that the show has been. I admit that I am glad that most of the original cast is participating because you all knew Jonathan Larson. You all helped to create RENT, and make it what it is today. I just hope that this movie works out okay.

You may be wondering why I'm giving you this comment and not the director or something. The reason is because I admire you. I bet you get that a lot, but it's true. People admire you, look up to you, want to be you. As far as I am concerned you are the biggest star on Broadway. I don't know the names of many actors or actresses, but I know yours and maybe only a handful of others. You are amazing at what you do, and I hope that RENT the movie works out. Good Luck with everything, and I am looking forward to seeing how the movie comes out.

You can tell soo much thru your songs on the cd's that i feel that i've seen you perform 100 times. I know u guys are going to be increible, but its the cinematography that im counting on to make this oscar-calibur. wow..im so very excited for this movie..i kno its gonna be great...howeer im kinda sad that the fimling is pretty much almost done..and it was a big oppurtunity here in sf..and i was soo lucky to have caught one night of filming..and i got to see u, idina, from the distance and even got to meet adam....im just kinda disappointed i didnt get to meet u or any other cast members..=(..but hopefully i will in the future..my goal is to have as many original broadway cast memebers to sign my obcr..and so far..all i hav is anthony when he did little shop..i wasnt even to get adam cuz i didnt hav it on me...we'll see...good luck!
